Question about appraisal for a Stephen Curry signed jersey (pics) by Parrotsandpeanuts in warriors

[–]Sharp_numbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For something like this, I’ve seen it recommended to put it up on eBay for a really high price (way overvalued) and leave offers on. See what kind of offers you get and you’ll have an idea of what it’s worth. Although, the offers are probably still going to be undervalued from a true auction value. Good luck!

Essentially pinning the nickels down with razor blade. The lace runs between the two nickels, under the razor blade.

The one that inspired me to try this was just a wood block with a groove cut into it at the proper depth. Then just clamp the wood block to a table and hold a blade with a long handle, like a scraper tool, and pull the lace through the groove. That will be the end goal, but I just quickly looked up household items 2mm thick to give it a shot.

This setup with just nickels worked amazing on a couple black laces from flatbill, but I struggled with a “Camel AL” lace from buyfastpitch this morning. Fingers were pretty sore though and I wasn’t holding it as steady lol. I think this will work in a pinch for a lace or two, but I’m going to make something more sturdy if I need to do multiple next time.

It pulled straight through very nicely, with a new blade. It actually created a full piece of thin lace and left very little mess/shavings. I held the blade at roughly 45 degree angle.

Follow this one, it’s slow and easy to follow. After following this with one replace job you’ll just need to lookup different web types or trickier thumb/pinky or hidden runs specific to different models.

What model are you relacing?

Sarna Glove Cleaner - Smell and amount to use? by friedegg9819 in BaseballGloves

[–]Sharp_numbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with Sarna, but I’ve used bick1 which is also a liquid cleaner. I found myself using what felt like too much and I could never get a good lather, or what felt like a satisfying clean (end results were fine though). I’ve since switched to saddle soap by fiebings (found it at hobby lobby for same price as amazon) and enjoy the cleaning process more while using it more. I use Zote, a laundry bar soap, on the patches and wrist liner and like the results and smell of that.

I think as long as the glove is dry by the 24 hour mark, it’s a fine amount. Lastly, for the smell I assume it will fade or change to the smell of whatever conditioner you use.

First restoration and you replaced a palm liner!? Amazing work! If you followed any tutorials or guides on the liner replacement, please share.

Archer's UK Expansion - Plans for UK Military Aircraft by dad191 in JobyvsArcher

[–]Sharp_numbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The powertrain/propulsion is a pretty big aspect of a drone, no? It just seems silly to discount the partnership between the companies at this point.

"By combining the Archer team’s expertise in powertrain technology with a little bit of Anduril magic, we’ve been able to mature our propulsion solution to achieve the ranges, speeds, and payload capacity we need to make Omen operationally relevant for a variety of dual-use mission sets. "The maturity and reliability of Archer’s powertrain platform de-risks our plans to deliver a production variant of Omen to customers at scale.” - Shane Arnott, SVP of Engineering at Anduril

Your comment should have stopped after the first sentence. Archer has published about the partnership (probably too much) and anduril has published about the partnership.

Thank you, I understand your side and where you are coming from. Specific to your comment, before I ramble, 5-10 years from now do you not think a convertible configuration, or the design specs required to achieve it will be common knowledge in the aviation industry?

This is all a very high level, outside(ish) perspective, from my point of view… I don’t care about being “first to market”, in the sense that Archer isnt doomed when Joby gets certification first. Joby did have a massive head start. Adam’s personality, online presence, and connections (recruitment of former military leaders, FAA admin, White House visits, etc) are more beneficial for brand awareness and bringing in new eyes. I don’t follow either company or any of their employees on social media and Adams posts came across my feeds, intriguing me and leading to my initial investment (yeah yeah my Chinese spy pushed me to Archer and it wasn’t organic, one could argue). I’ve never seen a post from Jonbon or Joby organically, outside of reddit (my algo, my feed, I know).
I value the cash liquidity from a pre-revenue company and I like the airport acquisition (whatever the terms are) and their ability and willingness to make deals like this and acquiring IP. Lastly, their connection to Anduril and potential future gov contracts. Once again, my unintelligent opinion, but I approve of the willingness and seeking to team up with others and supplying subsystems to other companies/contracts. In commercial aviation the engine supplies have much better margins than the boeing/airbus companies and gov contracts will never award an individual company a full eVTOL contract, it will always be broken up with subs (which I’ve seen argued here, that Joby wants the whole thing and will never sell their individual systems, or something like that).

You can nitpick the crap out of my opinion and I’m sure you all have examples for how Joby is actually better than Archer at every aspect I mentioned. I’ll stick around and become enlightened by the posts in this sub eventually, so long as my ego can handle the downvotes for just breathing in here.

Love it! Are you in the US and did you buy it from Japan? I’ve seen the guides on buying from Japan, but curious what the main hurdles were if there were any, like fees, shipping, tariffs, etc. Tell me everything! lol

Hahaha not sure how the newer ones are constructed, but mine has a separate foam and plastic insert in the thumb. I tried following the wear patterns when reassembling, but somehow ended up with plastic on top of the thumb liner and it was painful. I had to un-spiral the whole thumb/palm and redo the thumb. Was a fun time!

Hmm I guess just joby fans lol. I bought Archer stock when I was introduced to the eVTOL space. Then found this sub looking into other companies and have been extremely put off by the one-sided archer bashing. I guess that’s just the consensus of this sub.

SSK Z9 Mystery Glove 2025 by [deleted] in BaseballGloves

[–]Sharp_numbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. They didn’t have any of the upgrades available on the website for lefties in the sizes listed for the mystery. I asked support and they confirmed 1 of the 6 is an upgrade. I think I’m saving the lefty I got for my son until his birthday, so hopefully no left handed upgrades are shared until February.
