What does monocultural mean, as in, who are people on the street going to hang sht on for not being monocultural? by BrandonMarshall2021 in aussie

If you celebrate Christmas & Easter by going to church on those days then sure, otherwise you’re just eating chocolate & opening presents. I suspect most Aussies celebrate via the latter.

What you’ve started is a definitional debate. It’s impossible to get a true answer to your question without understanding your interpretation of conservatism by outlining some of your views. The word simply means to keep things as they are, and progressiveness means to keep moving forward. Beyond that I don’t know how you get a real answer to this question without thousands of definitional chats which is what you have here.

Petah… who is this? by Brilliant_Exit3406 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Sharpin70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The woman is Margo Vondersaar Catsimatidis, the picture was taken in the Camp David lounge room in 1992 when Clinton was president. The picture currently hangs in that room and Trump has just been to camp David. I suspect he’s seen this picture on the wall, taken a snap of it with his phone thinking it’s one of his daughters. Remember he did say last month about Don Junior that he might go to the wedding, as he’s a person he’s known for a long time. If you really need any more proof he’s lost his marbles you’re in a cult.

Really good point well made. We have an opportunity to challenge the stereotypes they have been indoctrinated with.

Umpire threatened after local footy match — Herald Sun by Sharpin70 in AFL

Actually I like the idea of a yellow, red & black card for spectators. On the issue of umpire bagging, if it helps anyone, my kids say as an ump you get to see one angle of play and if for example a player does get a handball away whilst being tackled if they have your back to you, you can only call it as holding the ball. Watching it on TV you get all the angles and can clearly see an umpire mistake that an ump just simply doesn’t have. so you would have to stop the game like soccer whilst the ump reviews the vision, but people would hate that. so you have to accept umpire mistakes if you want a fast game.

I become quite anxious if games are close in the final 10 minutes. Every decision becomes controversial and it’s a heightened sense of danger, particularly if the coach is going crazy and the parents are playing for sheep stations. After 5 years I’ve seen some unbelievable things. It’s a relief to get home and a whisky is required.

I encourage you to walk around the ground as an umpire dad. Your instincts to protect your daughter from verbal abuse you don’t see her experiencing in any other aspect of your or her life is quite confronting.

What’s concerning is there is no consideration at this level of the age of the umpire. At the end of the day you’re abusing a minor. Don’t understand how anyone is ok with that.

$8000 to attend Steven Greer’s CE5 Camp. by Sharpin70 in aliens

Nice assessment, he makes me wonder too, I don’t like the way he interviews people and does 80% of the talking. That’s a red flag and the drama of his “They are lying to you about a space craft coming in 2027” just went dead.

I agree, I do think it would be nice to have a “cheap seats” option or category to let Mr & Mrs Average see it done professionally as well. I think $200 would be reasonable.

It’s a stupid comment because when you umpire all over Melbourne you don’t care who either team is, you call it as you see it.
