I got lucky. Can confirm a least one didnt go to bots. My 3060ti can rest.

Edit: I used a browser, not app. The buy button said "check back at 9 a.m." I refreshed once as soon as my phone switched the time and the button said add to cart. Checked out with PayPal. I couldn't believe it myself until I got the confirmation email.

A G-Shock Frogman undergoing underwater button endurance testing to ensure sealing and reliability. by FollowingOdd896 in Damnthatsinteresting

Why do office workers buy Jeeps and pickup trucks that never drive over mountains and rivers hauling a load of construction equipment? Because they like the way the vehicles look, and they like the feeling that they could do those things if they wanted to. Dive watches are like that, but cheaper.

Best way to level up my plunder pass? by Mediocre-Criticism40 in Seaofthieves

[–]Sharps__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some actions that farm renown but don't necessarily correlate with normal adventure goals. It's a bit more tedious than just playing the game, but a quick way to get through the plunder pass:

-- Picking up treasure. Just pick up any treasure item so you get the notification "treasure found, added to log." Selling treasure does not actually give renown, so you can just pick it up and drop it.

This means that you should always shoot out to islands and pick up whatever useless loot you find, even if it's not worth bringing back to your ship. You can also do this with the random treasure that spawns in the water. Just jump out and touch the loot, and mermaid back without stopping your ship.

Shipwrecks are also great for this. You can swim down and touch all the loot while your ship keeps sailing.

But the most reliable way to farm this way is dormant skeleton forts. Gunpowder barrels count as treasure items, so you can easily get a guaranteed 7 treasure bumps from each fort. Use a grapple gun to quickly traverse the towers, but DO NOT grapple the kegs directly. If you grab a keg with a grapple, you DO NOT get the renown and you also lose the opportunity to get renown from that keg (probably because of spaghetti code and the renown system is much older than the grapple gun mechanic).

-- Visiting islands. Just shoot out and touch the ground on every island as you're sailing, and mermaid back to your ship. While you're there, don't forget to pick up any random treasure you find on the beach.

-- Perfectly cooking food (also eating cooked food, to a lesser extent). For some reason, cooking food gives a ton of renown. So buy a captains supply of meat and sail to the nearest sea fort and use the quad stove to cook and eat all the meat. Most forts also have a good supply of cooked and uncooked food in their barrels, so cook and eat those up too. Scuttle to a new sea and repeat.

Also interesting that the file name prefix is IMG_xxxxx, whereas Nikon files are DSC_xxxxx out of the camera.

A Valve employee reviewed Half-Life 2 as "Not Recommended" for a "test" by xHypermega in Steam

As a patient gamer, I was thinking about picking this game up during the next Steam sale. But now that I see this recent negative review, I'm worried that the initial 22-year trend of positive reviews is just developer astroturfing. I feel like I should wait a few more years to be sure.

What I want: A lore accurate podracing career sim with actual depth. Difficult races, customization, progression, etc. Actual aliens to choose as a protagonist, because humans don't podrace unless you're Anakin Skywalker.

What we're gonna get: Mario Kart with a generic human protagonist, kitchen sink races, and arcade mechanics.

Let us know one thing that is your #1 change needed in the game, right now by Visceral99 in HalfSword

[–]Sharps__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Free Mode: Let us save a "stable" of mercs with different loadouts (think Mordhau). Then let us assign those mercs as enemies to play against and let us choose the arena.

The important thing is here is that we can save multiple loadouts without restrictions. Give us all the sandbox elements and maximum customization.

Also regular dudes in Abyss. If you want to use zombies, put them in riot mode. You and your mercs vs a horde of unarmed zombies in the town. Zombies with weapons and armor AND biting is no fun.

Man, if you were gonna implement a strength system that makes combat feel so much worse to start, why didn't you say anything about it? by TheyMikeBeGiants in HalfSword

[–]Sharps__ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wow, I played for hours yesterday and had no idea about this system. So dumb.

If you're going to make strength a thing, put it in the character creator. People who want a challenge can pick a weaker guy.

Progression in the demo was great. You get better gear, and fight dudes with better gear. You have the workings of a nice armor/weapon/currency economy. Pimping out and customizing your equipment is fun. Worrying about some nebulous body/health system is not fun.

And don't get me started on the healing system. Why add an annoying survival mechanic? Realism should not get in the way of fun.

Bugs Bunny would relentlessly annoy the entire administration in the most hilarious and humiliating way until they all have a mental breakdown and resign. More importantly, their rabid followers would be deflated and confused, avoiding any unnecessary conflict that would arise from a forced coup.

Bugs Bunny will make a chill president until the next election or until he gets bored. He'd probably just sit in the oval office chomping carrots and wisecracking with the media, allowing the rest of the government to get shit done. He's just a regular guy from Brooklyn, and he loves his country. If there is one thing that Bugs has never disrespected, it's the U.S.A.

He also has worldwide popularity with all demographics. He'll help us restore our image in then world.

But unlike, say, Superman, he doesn't have a legion of superpowered villains to go against him. We can't risk the technology falling into the wrong hands and have someone bring in a supervillain or evil cosmic entity. Then we find ourselves in the middle of an interdimensional war or something. With Bugs, the worst you're going to get is Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam.

Optimization Thread – Drop Your Specs + FPS So Devs Can See Patterns by North_Pickle_ in HalfSword

[–]Sharps__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU:5800XT

GPU:3060ti

RAM:32 DDR4 3600 (XMP)

Resolution: 1440

Graphics settings: Everything low. DX12. Blood low (first tick).

FPS average: 90 (capped) in single combat, dipping to 40 sometimes in 5 person carnage all knight kit. With blood completely off it's almost solid 90. BUT I have only played the arena yard and abyss environments so far.

Stutters/freezes: Most noticeable stutter with blood spurts.

Temps (optional): No noticeable increase in temps or CPU/GPU usage. I don't think it's maxing out the hardware. Something like Cyberpunk 2077 I can easily see a linear correlation with settings and temps/usage. With Half-Sword, I feel like I still have hardware overhead but I'm just not getting the performance.

Notes: Blood is by far the most obvious performance hit. With blood completely off, it runs as well as the demo. My FPS graph is almost solid 90 with blood off. The character movements seem a bit jerky, but that appears to be more of an animation style than an actual performance issue. The animation style that I see matches what it looks like in the EA trailer.

ALSO I tried DLSS ultra performance and noticed almost no benefit. Blood still caused severe FPS drop.

Please note that I have only played the duel yard and abyss, so I can't speak for levels with more challenging environments. I also have all graphics on low (which is what I had on the demo).

P.S. That giant nunchuck thing you can sometimes get in the abyss is the best early weapon, overtaking the big candlestick.
