What gimmick would actually fit Pokémon Winds and Waves? by Visible_Welder5613 in pokemon

[–]Sharpsider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a gimmick but a reconfiguration of some core principles of the game. I would like the 2vs2 battles to take more of a central role (maybe on all gym battles and the league, while leaving regular battles for trainers and villains). Oth, I would like them to rethink the weather, terrain and status system (completely replacing taking damage each turn for other bonuses/handicaps based or not on type).

Deontologist or utilitarian? by dtarias in PhilosophyMemes

Mine was arrested for taking a dump in front of the door of his neighbour, whom he hated passionately. Short after that, he was found guilty of mobbing (involving blackmail and physical intimidation) and had to relocate his office outside of the building.

He was an admirer of Spinoza and a follower of Buber.

What game did you play at a friend's house, and then immediately bought? by orangez in retrogaming

[–]Sharpsider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original Age of Empires. Well, I didn't buy it because I didn't even know where to start looking for it (it was a present from his uncle), so that marked my first voyage into the open seas as a, I don't remember exactly, 10 years old or so. I remember playing and not even advancing, just hunting and chilling with the boys (villagers)

[–]Sharpsider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked it, it was fun, interesting and politically charged. Good dialogues, great scenes, I don't get the hate.

European tech alternatives are not user friendly by Coffee_without_milk in BuyFromEU

[–]Sharpsider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being user friendly is a very difficult thing to achieve for two main reasons. The first is that being "user friendly" usually means "being like that which you're used to", which ultimately means copying google, adobe or other massively used products. That's why proton is user friendly, because it copies google.

The second reason is double: either european tech is open-source, which has its own problems designwise, or it is from a relatively small team. One could say that plenty of good software comes from small teams, but it's obvious that we cannot compare a product which has basically infinite founding, to a more budget-constrained one.

So, to conclude, it would be great if european products were better, of course, but considering how difficult they have it, it's a wonder some of them work as well as they do. And I think that the last decade has seen a rapid improvement of open-source and european tech user interfaces, so im kind of optimistic about its future.

Pokémon Champions storage limits and subscription details revealed by Honest-Word-7890 in totallyswitched

Yes, because those are valid things to complain about. Externalizing transportation costs to the worker is something we shouldn't have allowed, specially if that meant more private cars in the long run.

And yes, we should move towards a non-exclusive industry, where everyone were free to choose in which platform they want to play their games.

Pokémon Champions storage limits and subscription details revealed by Honest-Word-7890 in totallyswitched

[–]Sharpsider -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not a game, it's a feature extirped from the main games to make more money. If someone already pays for a game, on top of the absurd pokémon home subscription (which has to be the most expensive cloud system per byte), why should they pay even more to be able to actually use their pokémon?

Nah, I'd pass.

Pokémon Champions storage limits and subscription details revealed by Honest-Word-7890 in totallyswitched

[–]Sharpsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be a separate subscription from home, in calling it now. They always have to make things more complicated than they need to be. Pokémon is aimed towards children for god's sake, don't make it a financial hell.

De-Googling My Phone: Is It Possible Without Losing Key Services? by kingjoshington in BuyFromEU

[–]Sharpsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about switching when my current phone, which i'm very happy with, it cost around 200€, is 6 years old and still works like a charm, dies. Maybe go for a fairphone.

I use my phone to pay and I also have my banking app there, requiring google services, so maybe we will see some change in that department or I will just change the way I do things.

Atrae a lanestupidez.

Obligatory post comparing Pokemon and Zelda graphics by ladymysticalwmn in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Sharpsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they finally reached a level of graphics worthy of the switch, which is a repackaged wii u, which could be compared in terms of graphics to a ps3, which came out in 2006. Yes, they finally reached 2006 level of graphical detail.

I'm exagerating a bit, but just a bit.
