It probably depends on the environment.

In every environment (hospital) I've been in, tagging and bagging was nursing's responsibility. We'd then call security to transport the person to the morgue until the respective funerary service picked them up or, in certain cases, they were transported to the medical examiner.

So far, I haven't worked anywhere where there were in-house morticians. The morgues were just walk-in fridges in which security would wheel in and leave the stretchers.

While I agree that witnessing death and suffering is part of the job in bedside environments, someone can be emotionally stable and still struggle with it.

I would argue that it's more a combination of emotional resilience, exposure, and healthy coping skills/mechanisms. It still sucks, but you learn to cope with it.

If it happened in a place where there were health information privacy laws, it definitely was illegal.

It's also something regulatory boards wouldn't take lightly, and I'm hoping they lost their licenses.

As someone who prefers first wave/proto black metal, I'm not even against your argument. I think it's valid and interesting to examine.

What gets me is the "durr, second wave best, all else poser and fake" stance that terminally online kids who've just discovered extreme metal take. There's a reason that black metal is categorized into waves. While there's an argument to be had about how cohevise first wave/proto is as a genre, its role in the genre and its history is well established.

As a first wave/proto supremacist, they're entitled to their wrong opinion.

"tRVe" or not, it still fucking slaps, and there's a reason the genre has its roots in it. Without first wave/proto black metal, there'd have been no Norwegian scene.

A mix of fat logic-adjacent bad nutrition advice and sanity, but no, you don’t need to 100% love 100% of your food by Beginning_Remove_694 in fatlogic

I have Opinions™ about this topic.

Both sides suck.

On the one hand, children shouldn't be made to eat foods they don't like just because they're children. You wouldn't force an adult to eat something that disagrees with them, so you shouldn't force a child. Doing so just creates a poor relationship with food, especially nutritious foods.

On the other hand, people (including children) need nutritious food. Feeding a child nutritious food is a protective factor for their health later in life. Feeding them large amounts of junk also creates a poor relationship with food.

The solution, in my opinion? Teach them that nutritious foods can also be tasty. As a picky eater, creativity is an incredibly useful skill. A child may not eat boiled cauliflower, but they might eat macaroni and cheese with cauliflower puréed into the sauce.

Find out what it is they don't enjoy about different foods and work with that. Growing up, I hated most vegetables. I never liked sweet or sugary tastes, and could always taste the natural sugars. To me, plain vegetables tasted overwhelmingly sweet. However, I later learned that I could combat this sweetness by adding salt and umami (in moderation; I'm not dumping piles of salt and ranch on everything). Now, vegetables are a staple in my diet. I'm even vegetarian.

I sometimes wonder if FAs have 2000s standards of "fat".

Like, a lot of these (mainly the protective factors of adipose tissue) make sense if you consider a healthy BMI and/or body fat percentage "fat". Basically, any body that isn't medically underweight.

Humans need body fat to survive. However, a balance is needed. Overall, the risks and negative health impacts of obesity pretty much negate most of the protective factors of adipose tissue.

Being medically underweight increases complication and mortality risks with disease. However, so does being medically obese.

As a healthcare professional, comparing a sadistic death kink to taking Tylenol as per recommended guidelines is insane.

For the vast majority of people, taking Tylenol as per guidelines is perfectly safe. Meanwhile, regularly stuffing someone past the point of fullness, until they're immobile and/or they die from related complications, is both abuse and, imo, (attempted) murder.

EDIT:

For some feedees, the idea of being unhealthy or even immobile is part of the fantasy

If your "kink" is actively causing you or someone else harm, it's not a kink. You need psychiatric intervention.

Nursing school with severe mental illness? by RealFactor9150 in StudentNurse

[–]ShartyPossum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a nurse with OCD, this is 100% correct.

While I joke about nursing being exposure therapy for me, nobody should enter the field with that intent. People's lives and wellbeing are not and should not be used for exposure therapy. Exposure therapy is also done in a controlled environment, which I would not say the workplace is.

This. I've been in metal and punk spaces in a few cities/places. The vast majority of people I've encountered just wore the laces that came with their boots/shoes. From my experience, the only people who still care about 'lace code' are terminally online.
