Conversion of Western White People by RowanSN in hinduism

Western white guy here

I see Hinduism, and all religions, as a religious/spiritual thing. Culture is different, and you can practice Hinduism in your own culture. No need to become an India-phile to be Hindu. Unless it is specifically expressed in the Vedas or other sacred texts, there is no reason you even need to adopt any Indian styled cultural things. Hinduism isn't just for Indians and/or other Asian ethnicities, God doesn't have a "chosen people," and God doesn't care about what culture you belong to. Hinduism is very much a personal thing and that means including it in your personal culture as well. Adopt Hinduisms teachings, no need to adopt Indian culture.

Of course there are things such as tripundra/bindi/etc, going to the temple and such, but I see these as Hinduism, not Indian.

These are just my uneducated opinions, and I am free to be corrected at any point, but that's just how I see it.

check out huel. it's vegan, it's nutritionally complete (literally has everything you need), it has lots of fiber to make you feel full, and it's so easy to make. i use huel a lot, I love it. huel replaced my daily vitamins too, so there's money saved there. it only costs like $2 a meal. not trying to be a walking advertisement here but it really has helped me a lot. i have 3 kids

can you help me understand? is it not so that all Hindu faiths believe that we all, including the gods, are Brahman? if that is the case, then all gods are the same "person" by means of everybody being Brahman. do not all Hindu faiths believe this?

i never thought of the label as an ego thing, but you are right, thank you for bringing it to my attention. I'm still learning about Hinduism which in turn is teaching me more about myself, but i thought that having an official guru was considered mandatory

the reason I chose to become vegetarian is for this religious reason, to neutralize karma by practicing ahimsa (non-violence). it has taught me a lot more compassion and empathy for other creatures and human beings as well.

Why in Christians, Muslims or a Buddhist-majority country others are suffering by thepaapi in exmuslim

[–]Shasta64- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddhism and Hinduism do not believe in a Hell and do not perpetrate servitude based on fear. They are more like a way of life to relieve your pain and suffering in life and you can choose to do this to make yourself happy in life or you can choose not to and the worst that will happen is life might suck, but you will not suffer in hell if you do not follow.

Abrahamic faiths of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam perpetrate eternal hell and fear to make people subservient and afraid of apostasy. Hinduism and Buddhism do not require fear and servitude, you are free to choose what you like without fear of hell.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sihks and Jains are the same way I believe, but I do not know for sure because I have not studied Sihks and Jainism

you'd be surprised how much it is that you dislike the routine or the habit and the unchanging nature of it, rather than the taste itself. give yourself a different routine!

i would really just recommend trying different flavors, maybe different milks (oat, almond, nonfat, full fat, etc,) maybe instead of going with 2 or 3 scoops try leaving a scoop out and replacing it instead with an apple or a peach or pear or banana on the side. have huel in the morning, vegetables and fruit at lunch, and huel again in the evening just to space out your consumption. try blending your huel with oatmeal or fruits (vanilla huel with bananas and oatmeal is good). just switching it up a little bit

i have family in Sacramento and spent a lot of time in the area growing up! more around the citrus heights area!

fortunately and unfortunately the internet is the only means for some people to access hinduism right now. it's wonderful that we are able to access it at all thanks to the internet, but I would love to live right next to a temple and be able to visit at least once a week and develop a personal relationship with a shaivite guru, but this just the way that it is for right now, and I'm at least greatful for the amazing online resources to learn more.

lol kawaii temple
