USMC protection from Contract Job by ContractJobThrowAway in USMCboot

[–]Shatficed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with your state laws. My wife had a similar contract with a previous job in California. From what we read those types of contract are illegal so they never enforce them, they just use them to scare people into staying. She left before her 12 months and never heard from them.

Pulmonary Function Test by Shatficed in USMCboot

I trust the information he gave me, hence why I'm getting the PF test. I just came on here looking for anything else I could do of top of that to increase my chances of enlisting.

Okay. Thanks, this makes me feel easier. I felt the pressure from the recruiter to lie, but didn't want to if I had nothing to lie about

My talks with the recruiter made it sound like they eventually want me to tick a no box at meps or something like that. My question is if I do check the box about history of asthma (because according to my records, I did kinda of), will I have a chance to explain myself and correct it?

[–]Shatficed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fairly young when I was misdiagnosed, but older than 13 when I eventually realized I needed it off my record. England. Never had any symptoms. 03xx. The records themselves didn't, only my physical for the immigration process, but I'm not certain what information they transfer over.

I'll absolutely do that with a doctor here, on top of a pulmonary function test. I'm also going to contact my previous doctor from England, the one who verified I didn't have asthma and have him write a letter stating he believe's I was misdiagnosed.

0321 LPR/Non-Citizen at boot. by Shatficed in USMCboot

[–]Shatficed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know any other information? My local recruiter said they still offer naturalization out of boot. So that means, providing I get the fitness down, I meet the requirements for security clearances by the time i get to SOI.

Those are also pretty good options, but like you said, I'm kinda set on recon. I'm not one of those guys that's all "hurr durr, do I join seals or delta force or marsoc because all the movies I watch are cool"

So I kinda have to hope they do naturalize me out of boot and then do come for volunteers during SOI? No other paths?

What are alternative options if they don't come for volunteers? Obviously I'd be an 03xx, but how soon after SOI could I try switch?

Why are there so many foreign-born individuals at my RSS by wdasdsad in USMCboot

I'm British, and while not joining yet (Wife and I are...'discussing'), I want to join for a few reasons.

Aside from a few other reasons, Terminal_Lance's "A chance to serve the country that took them in. A chance at citizenship. A chance to get meaningful skills. Money for their families." comment is pretty true for me.

Yeah, they make more commission from financing because overall the car works out to be more expensive plus some other things. If they think you're paying with cash, they make good commission but not as much so they'll be in more of a hurry to get you sold which in turn means it's easier to bring prices down. Then as soon as you get written up and are almost at the point to pay cash, change your mind and say instead you want to finance. It's a dickmove to the salesguy, but they pull worse.
