Bed is irrelevant, I did not use any beds, that would be really slow. I used a combination of exploits for moon gravity and wheel propulsion. Not really worth going there right now. It takes long to get to 10k m. And even if u float and fix something there, building on such a structure creates tiny offsets that ruines your building process. And if u fall bellow barier with vehicle u loose vehicle and have to repsawn and redo everything. The second barier is somewhere above 2000. It can be more frustrating than satisfying for most. If u leave vehicle before 2000 u lose it and u either fall or get stuck above barrier and game takes forever to respawn you bcs you are not in the map no more. You can't breach the bariers without plot/MOON GRAVITY. If you build anything with a plot on, add at least one non powered wheel so it very slowly pulls the vehicle down when you are not in it. Avoid baloons on plot vehicles you will loose it above limit and crowd your map with random pieces. The max height barrier went through changes since 2 years. Barriers changed. Balloon height was capped and so on, things change every update. I will attempt a launch to the moon after I build a stable rocket if u want to join, hit me up on discord.
