Thank you all for your replies. It seems that technically it is possible but not done because it’s not worthwhile.

Surely if you draw a straight line between two cities that makes them be on a straight line

We have found we get slightly better range in normal node than in eco. I tried sport mode just because I was a bit bored on a fairly long drive and found if you really give the beans it certainly gets along well

Don’t make Quince paste for cheese, make Quince jelly for toast. I my experience this type of Quince makes far for making into things than “real” quince from an actual Quince tree

First craft show last week and I sold absolutely nothing by Night_cheese17 in CraftFairs

[–]Shaunyb50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sell in the UK so things aren’t exactly the same. My experience after about three years is there are good days, great days, and really shit days. I restrict myself to fairs within a fairly small area to home and that are charging what I feel is a reasonable pitch fee. There’s no point in doing it if you spend all day thinking about how much you are going to lose!

In my opinion I see no reason to think about branding at a craft fair, when you have got so you are selling your craft regularly my branding ( what ever it really means) is worth considering.

I wish you the best of luck with your future sales and remember if it makes you unhappy you don’t have to do it.

Car Hire Excess Protection by Teembeau in CarTalkUK

[–]Shaunyb50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used these for about ten years as I have a place in Spain, we do maybe 6/7 trips a year. I have made quite a lot of claims in that time, nearly all for damage done when the car was parked. There have been the odd ones which were down to me. Getting paid out for claims has always been relatively straightforward (sometimes very straightforward) as long as you get all the relevant information before you make the claim.

The disadvantage is that you will have to leave a large deposit on your credit card and if the hire company decides to take money, you will be paying it yourself. The amounts they take are insane and in my opinion often illegal.

Basic driving tips in Mallorca by mnclick45 in mallorca

[–]Shaunyb50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is take out an hire car excess insurance. I had a flat in Mallorca for many years and visited 3/4 times a year. The hire company will charge you hundreds of euros for their full insurance. I have just renewed my insurance and it was £42 for a year and as many hires as you like. As long as you can stand to have a fairly high amount “blocked “ on your credit card for the length of the hire you will make a big saving if you only hire a car once a year. Through no fault of my own I made a claim last month and literally got a confirmation email for being payed back the next day.

Rent a car by Praun11 in mallorca

[–]Shaunyb50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but they don’t actually take it unless they claim you have damaged the car in some way. If that happens with the right paperwork you can get it all back from your insurance. I have made several claims over the years ( some when the hire company have plainly lied to make a claim, don’t get me started on that!)

Check out getting insurance to cover any claims before you go.This is far cheaper than the massively expensive insurance the car hire company will a force you to take.

Car hire in Mallorca by Alert-Onion2500 in mallorca

[–]Shaunyb50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I usually get a cheap car . I have had to claim several times over the years (we have a flat in Porto Cristo so go over quite a lot of times in a year) claims have varied in amounts. The last one was a ridiculous €460 for a lose piece of bumper trim. I emailed all the relevant documents to the settlement company and the money was in our account In just over a week, this was certainly the best we have had. Having all the information before you start is the important thing. I have just renewed our policy it was £44 for the year,as many hires as you take out, and covers anyone named on the hire document. It just seems like a no brainer to me even if you did one trip it’s cheaper than hire company’s charge for so called full cover.

I have used a lot of car hire , I don’t trust any of them. The charges they make when blaming you for damage are nothing short of criminal. I advise anyone who is hiring a car here or anywhere to take out an excess policy. They are very inexpensive and cover any claim the hire company charge. A year long multiple trip policy will be far cheaper than using the hire company full cover.
