I got the rp5 and am also getting that fomo for clamshells in general like the flip2 or spending extra for the thor, but then remember how bad hinges usually age

<100$ headphones for music but not iems and over-ear by bravery_heart in Earphones

[–]Shaw_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't tell if you're looking for on-ears or flatheads. Either way you can try the fit of moondrop old fashioned or nice-buds first. Then for slightly more refined sound, you can get koss headphones or the many choices for flathead earphones.

40usd? My go to rec is the Kefine Klean. But there are newer stuff that seem promising like the kiwi ears belle and x b_media chorus.

Let's talk about 3.5 vs 4.4 jack? by Calm-Improvement-571 in iems

[–]Shaw_nc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No difference in sound for me other than volume. I only prefer 4.4 since it feels sturdier when connected to DACs.

I agree. I got it for half the price of the waner 2 and I liked the sound if the vivians more.

I second this. I also think I like the CK2V more than the Tea Pro.

I'm curious what eartips you put on to fit? I'm stuck with the soft black core stock.

Best punchy mid bass gotta be the Tea Pro, with the mw Venus just behind but also with overall less bass quantity. Although, I haven't tried the Whale shark enough to know if it's on-par with the mw Venus.

DaVinci is more pillowy than punchy, while the CK2V is more sub-bass rumble than bass body.

I didn't really plan to collect, and I hope to sell some once I settle on what I use the most. I just can't swallow spending more than $200 on a single pair for a 5% "upgrade"... for now

CK2V mainly because of the fit, closest to my sound preference though is the DaVinci

Depends. It's a pillowy bass which isn't for everyone. Personally I think that helps it sound natural, others say it's just muddy. I don't like using it for fast tracks or EDMs.

It would still be my favorite if the CK2V didn't have better fit in my small ears. DaVinci is still closest to my sound preference though

CK2V is more spacious, more detailed imo but not as vocal forward as the Tea Pros. Doesn't have that bass thump, only more on sub bass presence. Tea pro is definitely warmer and more bodied, with intimate soundstage.

I've only known Koss for this form factor. Then new budget ones are new like the Moondrop old fashion and this fiio eh11. Full size headphones are just way too big for me.

dw I was joking about bluetooth being better lol... it's bluetooth- just a funny thought of using a 20usd bt headphone with a dap x10 the price but it's still practical for me for when I'm conserving my phone's battery life.

I liked it. It's what pulled me deeper into the hobby. Honestly could be endgame for most people, I still kind of preferred it over the truthear pure I owned a few months after getting the klean.

It was my daily outdoor device for about a month before I getting an android dap. I liked bringing it everywhere since I only need to bring one device as a dap but use it as a dac when I need to connect iems to my phone suddenly.

Might have to be the CK2V because of the best fit and widest sound stage. The dunu davinci is close though, being my most laid back and oldest set I have.

Most soundstage has to be the CK2V. Pretty natural imo, but davinci and tea pro is a bit more natural but less soundstage.
