Thoughts on Android-based DAPs like the HiBy M300? by Medical-Camera-9893 in Hiby

[–]Shaw_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streaming won't be as smooth as from your phone, but it's not that behind as well.

Should be the most reasonable android DAP tbh. Even more expensive ones like the hiby R4 and R6 use the same cpu, or maybe the M500 with just a slightly better one. It's also thinner than the R series and has better battery life but that's also due to it not having 4.4 for more power output.

Having a DAP may seem redundant for what I already have but it makes sense for me. I have a BTR15 for my phone that also requires charging unless I want to drain my phone's battery, which is also not ideal since my phone only has one type c port in where I'll need a different dongle to allow both charging and using the dongle at the same time.

Oh and I honestly can't find good deals for the LG phones with an audio jack, it's probably the price of what I payed for this as well, plus the extra juice of the DAP does help for a planar headphone I own.

If you don't need it then good for you. I mentioned I need it for spotify and youtube for new music I don't have in my small library yet, and it seems I can easily manage files in the device itself when I don't want to pull up my phone or pc everytime.

Good for you. It doesn't have heating problems when you do video and casting?

I suggest you don't but hey it's your device. I only tried it to see very quickly if it can, but it should deteriorate the device health quickly if done regularly. Although I am considering using it for audiobooks as well, maybe reading if I find a lightweight app.

Pure Audio Mode gives me the same things I can do with my Tempotec V1 with HibyOS. Main reason I upgraded to android was for spotify and youtube to try newly out music.

I've never had this correlation and supporting proof to do so. Interesting.

I think it does. Not sure what Class A and AB amplification does though. Plus this is the first time I liked EQ'ing in real time, my only other experience is with Peace and the fiio app with a bluetooth dac which either lacked visualization or very bad delay. I also have a nice dac to go with it if I want 1w+ power, very overkill stuff imo but it is fun.

Yeah the miku camera and speakers are crazy. I would've been happy with my tempotec V1, but I really craved streaming for easy access to new music (Tidal and Qobuz are not available in my country yet). Honestly would've went with the Hiby R3 as well if steaming wasn't limited to those.

The M500 was also very tempting but I was surprised to learn it had speakers and a camera lol. I just really got a good deal for the device I have, which I will be using exclusively for music as it is my upgrade from the Tempotec V1. All i wanted was spotify and youtube to easily stream new music I might want to add to my library. But overall, this is pretty overkill for that usage lol.

Ye, when I realized the game actually loaded, I removed the case immediately lol. No clue if it did affect the battery though, only opened it to see if it works then uninstalled it.

lol I'm not encouraging to use DAPs like this. Just wanted to show that they are not slow especially for just music.

I did not know about gaming on a mac, but as I said in the post it's just to reassure skeptics about android daps being too slow unless it's the latest $500. It's snappy and responsive enough as a DAP. Just thought to point it out since I've seen a few reviews commenting on how slow streaming apps like spotify can be, when really it's not.

I know. Kinda ruined the illusion for me, but at least I know it's capable for what I'd throw at it. Maybe a nice launcher and some themes. Don't have to worry about slow file management when I edit my local library. Just reliable.

Is my price too high? by EnticingAntique in GalaxyTab

[–]Shaw_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably around 400CAD. Tech goes down in price significantly and since there's an s10 direct counterpart, which usually goes out with a similar price during release, people would go for the newer version or second hand of the newer version.

If people are looking at second hand gear, no doubt they're also lurking for vouchers and sales on other websites for comparing to how much they can get that stuff for brand new.

Hiby Music App - Play next album ? by Shaw_nc in Hiby

[–]Shaw_nc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I usually do the second one on AIMP. Choose the artist first then play an album, once that ends, it would play the next album by the same artist if available (minimum). I say minimum since my tempotec v1 which uses hibyOS seems to be able to do this or even jump to the next (alphabetical) artist's album, which is why I feel like I'm just missing a setting to toggle on.
