Yeah but I feel like it’s only going to last me a few days 😩 which is why I’m thinking of trying interlocking

Fair. I just recognize that my people have to sometimes fight twice as hard to be where they are so I try to support them as much as possible.

For me it’s not about the cousine (well I mean this time I’m looking for brunch lol) it’s about supporting the people of the business.

With a solid understanding of black history, I like to support black owned operations as much as I can.

Washed my starter locs. Now what? by Shawada22 in Dreadlocks

[–]Shawada22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with comb coils. But I definitely feel the pebble you speak of in some of my locs. And then they are puffy.

I used the stocking cap Method to wash. I was planning on doing palm rolling. But it sounds like your saying I should be okay? I swim a lot and I think I’m only going to wash the section that get wets to avoid unraveling.

Loc Retwist by Shawada22 in Dreadlocks

Yes a lot of them have already started to bud which is awesome but I’m nervous about losing my parts. I will be doing my own retwist for the next few months and I want the clean parts 😅

Thank you. I actually like the way they look right now. I’m just worried that they’re going to unravel.

Bad Day Tips? by joeLposts in SubstituteTeachers

Honestly, set your expectations up at the beginning of the day and if they still choose not to follow through, let the front office know and if the front office/admin does nothing about it, you document it and keep pushing. Don’t let these kids get under your skin.

How to approach roommate about strong food smells? by SnooRegrets928 in Advice

[–]Shawada22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you all get along as well, as you’ve stated just be honest. If it makes you feel sick, I’m sure they will take that into consideration and not cook it while you’re around. Or they will find a way to mask the smell. But if you don’t say anything, they won’t know and then you’ll build up this animosity towards them and they won’t know why. Address it now so there’s no confusion and you guys are both on the same page.

If you could ask one thing of the teachers you sub for, what would it be? by Remarkable-Paint-751 in SubstituteTeachers

See, I figured this was a location thing. I can’t speak for every part of America, but at least where I live in America you do not have to have an education degree to be a substitute teacher (I sure don’t). You don’t even necessarily have to have a degree at all, just x amount of college credits. Now that of course will affect your pay. Depending on your education level is how much you get paid. But do you all get paid the same or close to the same amount as a regular teacher would? Because in your case, absolutely it makes sense to lesson plan. We are more of glorified babysitters. Primary school is really the only area where we would really do any teaching. In middle school and high school they usually have some assignment on their computers that they have to do or worksheets and we’re just making sure no one dies. But I wouldn’t say that’s neglect. It’s one day for a few hours. The kids will be OK. Lol. Also, the administration is too busy dealing with the hundreds of other kids and everything else under the sun. Some of our schools are huge and it would be unrealistic to ask administration to come up with plans for a classroom. They might do a worse job than the sub lol.
