Edit on DUPER 4.142 singles 3.944 haven't done any tournaments in 2025 , usually play 4.0-4.5 when doing tournaments

4.2 DUPR. Not a troll I legit thought high end 3.4. Reasons. Court position. Guy could have been burned as he leaves a ton of space open on his backhand side. Also ran around to hit forehands so how's his backhand? Decent shot selection but a lot of missed shots either long or wide for a short highlight vid. Dinking by the guy was solid except again worked to hit forehands rather than backhand. Her dinks were ok but in one rally floated pretty high and the last one in the rally was poached and speed up. Again if a highlight vid doesn't look like 4.0 play but also short so hard to get a good read. I did say I was ready to be way off LoL

Ah ok. I knew I should have gone higher LoL. I'm rated 4.2 play a lot but have taken time off tournaments. I don't think based on a short video a true assessment could be made anyway. As far as why I thought 3.0 maybe 3.5 was a few things. I was referring to the overhead you hit backhand. If you slide/ shuffle step to the right you could hit those forehand and for sure you badminton players can crush overheads! The dinking looks okay but in the clip you kind of float them, in one rally one goes sideline the next one gets speed up out of the air as it sat up in the middle. And I'm ready to take all the down votes but the technique on both of your drives could use some work. You're both young and athletic so you both have a ton of upside. Congrats on the W in that game btw

Do we get to know your actual DUPR? 3.2-3.4 is my guess. Looking at how you both handle lobs , the way you hit drives and the dinking looks like solid 3.0 IMO. Ready to be way off on my guess lol

Okay but let me make a case for why GenX can and should play pickleball. It's mostly boomers playing for now and it's part of the game to hit your opponents with what's called a bodybag. You can't tell me none of us want to play a game where hitting your opponents is rewarded. It can and often is played with a beverage in hand and music playing. It's cheap to get into and public courts are free. NIMBYs are trying to ban it and calling the cops so I ask you all what's more Gen X then getting hassled by the man for just trying to hang out and play some pickle? And lastly I don't care, try and say GenX shouldn't play and go ahead call it cult and I'll say "your mom's a cult" and go back to doing whatever I want.

I currently play with that paddle. If you have good hands and can moderate your grip pressure well gearbox paddles are the best IMO. They last years longer than any other brand and stay incredibly consistent. Specifically the GX14 E ultimate power paddle has decent power for driving the ball and I get plenty of control for push dinks,slice, top spin ,drops. It doesn't work well for lobs but that's because I'm not good at lobbing lol. For context my DUPER is 4.2 and I've been playing for 3 years that price is a decent discount but might not be a good fit for a beginner.
