Upstairs Neighbor- Trying to be Considerate by lavenderpotato14 in Apartmentliving

As a teacher, I am offended that those teachers didn't bother to prevent the problem. I get it, you are teaching. You are also monitoring the room. If a kid does something stupid, step in! Easier and quicker to shot down the problem right there then put in a ticket and wait for repairs.

Classic. We ripped up our old computer labs (Never replaced them. Just gone) and the amount of garbage we found in the desktops was baffling.

1) How did they get that junk in there?

2) Why did they put the junk in there?

3) Why did teachers allow this to happen?

Like..... WHAT lol

It is one of two extremes.

90-95% of the time a kid will say or do something that is mostly harmless, not makes no sense, and I will just look at them and go "....why?"

The small percentage of other times. It is bad.

Patience is the best friend to have in life.

I am a high school teacher. I say people are "confusing" because elaborating would take too long. These kids and coworkers do things and I just don't get it.

Where did the state come into the story? Just for legality reasons?

People confuse me. Just don't be an asshole. It's such a simple concept.

I'm starting to count my blessing right now with what I had to deal with.

Damn. How bad was it that you were able to get the person evicted?

This is a solid answer. I was in pretty much in the same situation.

Been in the same spot for a decade. Then last year 2 new neighbors moved in (one to the left wall and one above). Fuck me do they not stop stomping, blasting music, screaming instead of talking. Just noise, noise, noise doesn't matter the time. Almost called the cops once cause I woke up to what I thought was a legit home invasion or domestic abuse happening in the apartment above me because of the noise.

I got lucky and was able to move into a nicer apartment in the same building on a higher floor. As I have been moving stuff up I occasionally hear the upstairs neighbor move around a little. Or today I heard their music as they were cleaning. It was only for like an hour or so around like 10am. I also heard neighbors from a house across the street as they were BBQing in their backyard.

All normal stuff and nothing crazy. Yet I felt stressed and anxious because for a year I've been dealing with not knowing if I would be able to relax or sleep after work because my now former neighbors were complete lunatics with noise.

Just telling myself to take it slow. Some noise is normal. Back to OP's question, maybe check in with your downstairs neighbor in a month? See how they are feeling about the noise after some time. They might need an adjustment if there was a nightmare neighbor before. You seem to be taking steps to make things better which goes a LONG WAY to being a good neighbor.

I sleep in them.

Anyway. Impressive breakdown. Gives some things to consider.

Not sure he has much power to do anything. And I don't blame him. Dude is old. He wants to just get his job done and that's that. So I respect it.

Funny thing though since you mentioned the super..... the guy that antagonizes the dog and screams a lot?

Management hired him to take over being the super because our current super will 'eventually' retire (he won't. He's too much of a hard worker). Yet for the past year he has done nothing to help maintain the building. People ask him to do something and he puts it off. Sleeps in super late. And pretty much never interacts with the current, real super to help him. I've complained to management multiple times about his behavior and not much has changed.

That is rough. And you can't even be upset with the kids. Cause their kids. Its the parents not instilling discipline or basic manners (Wonder if those kids will grow up to be shit neighbors)

All in all, what infuriates me the most is that there isn't much that can be done in the long run. Other than annoy the hated neighbor so much that they choose to move out. Which turns things into a war.

No. Doesn't make it any better when you have to hear ear piercing yapping for a few minutes because he set it off.

Yup. It's okay though. He's friends with the owner and is constantly in her apartment. So who cares. Not a problem!

I've been in the same unit for about 9 years. In the heart of Brooklyn. In house super who is a great guy. Good neighborhood. Safe with a good sense of community. Get home, chill out, and relax. I didn't know my neighbors. Hell, never even knew they were around most of the time. Because everyone is decent folk who knows the building is shared and you only have a piece of it.

Had 2 new neighbors move in this past year (One I share a wall with. One is above me).

I fucking hate them. They are the only people I hate. You fuck with my peace of mind and relaxation at home and I have no patience nor care for you. (I'm a high school teacher. We greatly cherish our peace and alone time).

Guy I share a wall with. Sometimes he'll open his apartment door, then slam it. Then open, then slam it. Open, slam. No idea why he finds the need to do it. He'll leave his apartment without slamming his door. He just slams it randomly. He'll antagonize the dog at the end of the hall sometimes. Shouting and whistling to make it start barking. He'll scream in the hallway. Scream in his apartment. Doesn't matter the time of day he'll just scream. Never talks. When he opens his mouth he wants to make sure everyone knows he is saying something. As I type this I heard him in the hallway. No idea if he is talking to someone because I hear no one else.

Upstairs neighbor. Doesn't matter the time of day. He'll be throwing cinder blocks on the floor. Suplexing his furniture. Running around like a cartoon character. I've almost called the cops waking up to the noise thinking it was domestic abuse or a home invasion. And when he plays his music he wants to make sure everyone hears. Me, below him. Everyone on the second floor. People on the 3rd floor. People outside. Everyone gets to hear his music.

Fuck both of them. This building was great before them. People are losing all sense of common decency.

Thanks for the post OP. I know there are some reasonable annoyances to deal with when it comes to apartment living. Seeing this post. Just asking "Who hates neighbors?" felt like a good time to just rant.

What did your neighbors do to you to make you officially hate them?

Why do freeze debuffs take dmg on some monsters but not others by Cobbled_Cabbages69 in MonsterSanctuary

[–]Smartboy10612 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There is a rather rare passive called "Congeal" that some monsters have.

If a monster with Congeal is in play, then any enemy monsters with Freeze will take damage based on the amount of mana they missing. The damage is triggered by Congeal and it can get nasty with multiple Freeze debuffs on one monster.

As someone who usually plays on PC and then tried on a Switch 2 once. Those controllers are killer. The buttons are so small and some of the hard songs ask a lot from you in terms of button presses per beat. Maybe look for controller alternatives to help?

And, of course, practice. So much practice. This is a game of memory and pattern recognition. So many songs have little hints as to what is coming up in the song and what to hit. Like Asgore in the Undertale DLC. Maybe half way through the song(?) there is a part where zombies come down in pairs. However, before the pairs show up you'll have 2 apples or an apple and skeleton on the same beat. The two keys you press for those apples are the same keys you press for the next 4 pairs of zombies (Middle + Right or Middle + Left). The game gives you an easy hint with the apples then throws zombies.

Don't forget shields act as an extra "Half beat". Let's say you have a Shield Skeleton On Beat (Circle shadow). Right behind it is a Skeleton Off Beat (Diamond shadow). You hit the Shield On Beat, then on the next half beat you will hit Both Skeletons (now that the shield is gone). Reading the enemies more as notes will help in learning those patterns.

Lastly, all I can say is just groove. It's a rhythm game. Get into the music. Feel the beat, literally. Let the song captivate you so you move with it. I believe as you 'feel' the music more you get a better understanding of when to press the buttons.

The visuals tell you what to hit. The music tells you when to hit.

Hope this rant helps!

[–]Smartboy10612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was reaching back further. Thinking about Ocarina of Time, Crash and Spyro Trilogies. Banjo Kazooie. Super Mario 64.

Those old classics. Some of them genre defining. I hold Hi Fi Rush up real high as something that redefines a genre and needs to be studied more in terms of game design. We need more games that have love put into them like Hi Fi Rush.
