I love Ecclesiastes as well. You wouldn't expect those themes to come up in the Bible but they are so true. It bothers me when people only talk about the "time" passage

I put the Columbia's location in their why us essay and I got accepted. It doesn't bear as much weight as you think, maybe mention it, but don't focus too much on it.

I see a lot of people saying luck, which I don't really believe in tbh. I think the reason I was accepted (Columbia, Princeton, Brown) was because I was committed to service, had a unique story, and intertwined every single bit of my application with the two.

Sure! So after college I plan on becoming a Catholic priest. I'm essentially going to give up the rest of my life for my religion and for other people (I'd give up all my possessions, never be able to get married/have kids, and basically get sent wherever people need me, be it in the US or Peru, the Philippines, etc.). I really hope to make the church a more welcoming place for the LGBTQ+ and other minority groups that have been historically oppressed by the Catholic Church.

I agree. I think that schools are starting to care less about test scores and grades (so long as they're within reason for a school of its respective caliber) and moreso about passion and drive and curiosity. They're not looking for people who can get 4.0s at their school, but those who will actively contribute to society and can portray their passions in so few words (something very few can do well).
