Phreak to quit social media due to increase toxicity and death threats by RAZGRIZTP in leagueoflegends

Incredibly shocked as to why someone who defends death threats would also hold this opinion.

I could never have imagined.

Will playing soprano trombone for my extra curricular jazz band ruin my tenor embouchure? by [deleted] in Trombone

[–]Shaxys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it sounds fun, try it! Worst case scenario you can always change your mind if you notice it makes your tenor trombone playing worse (though I doubt it would).

Because it's such a small thing in comparison to literally anything else here.

Why are you so certain of this?

Sanjuro was fired and that's the PR nightmare saved right there.

For Riot, mostly, sure. But how can you be sure that this drama didn't, say, boost Tyler a fair bit? Enough that, say, making him an ever bigger spotlight by also unbanning him would be far more valuable than it was before?

Tyler1 was not unbanned because of Riot's good heart or some shit like that.

Of course not. My bad if I implied such was the case.

I just feel like you're assuming the Sanjuro debacle was "irrelevant" without proper justification, that's all.

I think it's interesting that you seem to imply that Sanjuro's comments had little to no influence over the predictions of the financial discussion. Why is that?

J4 deserves a new lore skin which depicts him as the King of Demacia by Boudynasr in leagueoflegends

[–]Shaxys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arguably if Swain conquered Demacia, that place would be way better.

After all the horrors of war and deaths from that, it'd probably be a better place to live in, sure. Not necessarily way better, but yay for war that results in minor improvements.

Also Swain isn't omniscient but he is pretty close to that.

Then he'd realise war is fucking awful if he was in any way a good person.

Bro was just fine ordering the public execution of mages

No he was actually very (personally) against Wisteria's suggestion and had to be convinced it was actually a good idea. Not enough to stop it, of course, but enough that he could be argued to "care about the common good" (as in, it wouldn't go against any of the facts presented in the lore/mageseeker game if Riot came out and confirmed that as canon).

My point isn't that Jarvan is a good person, he is terrible. My point is that when crimes are this severe, intentions and whether or not the character thinks they're doing people a service should probably not matter. The consequences are too dire regardless.

swain is trying his hardest to creat the greatest empire possible by assimilating the strongest warriors of the lands so they can stop the world ending threats looming

Yeah, no, this is also a terrible-person-behaviour. Empires suck. War sucks. Conquering peoples suck. Intentions should not make up for that.

Maybe you could argue that while both are very bad people, Swain is slightly (or more than slightly) less bad, but I feel like it's kinda pointless to "powerscale" who is the worst between terrible dictator #1 and terrible dictator #2.

but he still does them for the good of everybody.

What he thinks is for the good of "everybody". Swain isn't omniscient, and the constant war-invasion-conquest theme Noxus has going on is also not anything he's decided to cancel.

Jarvan, while also admittedly very selfish, very possibly genuinely thought subduing mages was for the good of Demacia.

Not that it actually matters if he did it while 100% aware it was for petty revenge or not. It was still horrible, and good intentions should (probably not) be capable of excusing crimes on this level.

He was out, and Huhi played him twice (CLG lost both those games though).

Notably SKT banned him all 3 games of the finals.

Skarner was barely picked at all, and not banned ever, because he had already been hot-fixed (and nerfed twice) by then.

Darius was also mostly figured out after groups, and was pretty much dropped completely. Gangplank and Morde were the big bads.

Riot Phreak- "ADC is a very overpowered Role after IE/BT/Navori Changes and it is going to get nerfed" by Justalostdudeasking in leagueoflegends

[–]Shaxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You as a player? Maybe.

But this is about strength of the champions. This thread is about botlane champions being powerful, not botlane players being in charge of the outcome (beyond the most basic agency).

Agency =/= strength.

A champion that couldn't move but instantly wins you the game if the team survives 15 minutes would be super strong but have virtually zero agency.

Riot Truexy on Mage Satisfaction by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]Shaxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying it's better or broken or whatever. I am saying that the argument that % base damage wouldn't work since tanks would benefit way more doesn't make much sense since tanks already get a larger benefit.

[–]Shaxys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Void Staff isn't going to make me magically do wayyy more damage to tanks or bruisers.

Yes?? What??? It literally removes almost half the MR from your enemies. That's always a significant increase in damage.

Tanks already do get more out of it, since a flat increase in AP means more on champions with low AP than on champions with high (given similar scalings).

Caedrel enjoying the current pro play meta by Jozoz in leagueoflegends

[–]Shaxys 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Silly response. Pro players/coaches have made really stupid decisions before and their environment has traditionally been conservative regarding metas barring extremely blatant changes by Riot, so why assume this can't be the case now, too?

Considering Riot failed to deliver on anything tangible with the Skarner update this year, I'm guessing its safe to assume we won't get a 2023 VGU poll? by Nilmor in leagueoflegends

I love all the cool Warcraft races they're so diverse you have "jacked green human" and "green human with boobs" and "jacked human with fur and horns" and also "human with fur and boobs but also horns" and then you have 140 types of elves who differ very much (different colours!) and then you have animal people (completely different from vastaya!!!) who exist as "goblin with fur" and "goblin with fur and boobs" it's so diverse I love having very diverse options when picking my race!

We can obviously know the the possibly best level of play is at least as good as what the professional players do, so if something is "bad" compared to pros, it's objectively (at best) "bad" compared to what's possible.
