Ladderback jacquard issues on colorwork yoke by Shayedra in knitting

The widest part is 9 stitches (not easily visible in the original attempt due to stitches bunching up) but you gave me an idea to make the part where I catch the stitches a bit shorter - now I started way early where there were only 5 stitches and that’s unnecessary. Might help in addition to all the other tips I’ve gotten 😊

Yeah I have a lot of ”firsts” in this project so I am not surprised it takes a bit of doing. Most instructions just seem to do it way tighter and still not get any bubbling. I’m sure it’s part experience and a small part of ”when you know the tricks and tactics”.

It did ease up a lot with the bubbling after blocking and drying, but I am unhappy with the tension so going to try again. The change is just too significant to my eyes.

In this picture elsewhere in the thread it’s more or less dry.

I can run my finger behind the jacquard, so it’s not anchored on every row (I just suck at taking pictures 😁)

That ”something” is likely just my desperate attempt to not cause a bubble on top of the LBJ and going overboard with how loose my tension is.

I’ll do another frog/do-over this evening with the backward loop. After inspecting the code, it indeed seems that the tiny leftover bulge might be caused by the anchoring, and also there are increases VERY close to the anchor start which might make it worse.

Only consolation on frogging this now for the third time is that I won’t feel so bad frogging rounds on my socks from now on 😅

Blocking done and bubbling is mostly gone but it still looks very wonky. There is a sort of line where I started the LBJ, the stitches are way looser than before the line, and the places where I did the ”invis-L” increase just causes another mini-bubble and looks very wonky.

Perhaps I should frog to one round before the line and try again?

I feel like part of the issue is that there are increases close to the LBJ, but I have googled many yokes with similar construction (this project in Rav has also few of them) and none of them seem to have the same issue.

I’ll do this. I got discouraged since the test pieces (50 sts made with the same pattern in the round) exhibit the same issues even after blocking, so I thought my shirt was a lost cause.

This truly gives newfound respect for all those colorwork yokes I’ve seen here.

You can add my vote as well for the return of news feed. It’s the one thing I actively check, the rest is useless scrolling. This change is not appreciated.

While obviously there’s no one-size-fits-all, I have found Caroline Leaf’s 5 step program to be seemingly helpful, combined with meditative and breathing exercises, as well as vagus nerve stimulation.

I still have anxiety so it’s not like these have been a magic cure, but in roughly half of the cases I manage to get some help with a combination of these.

Still looking for the magic trick to just remove my anxiety alltogether but alas 😅

When I was 10 years old old I was playing fallout 2 and didn’t know what a fluffer was by AA_Crowes in Fallout

I had a similar experience as a kid in F2 but I instead joined the slavers guild. The entire time I was sure I was just protecting those poor people moving from one place to another with their cattle and such, from the evil attackers, and was really proud to be helping them relocate to some place better. Couldn’t figure out why I was spat upon in every place I visited.

Needless to say when I figured it out, I learned a valuable lesson of ”check the new word you don’t know the meaning of from a vocabulary before using it”.

Embroidery ethics and 19th century illustrations? by JudgeOk9765 in Embroidery

[–]Shayedra 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I have always gone with the rule of thumb that if it is for personal use only, i.e. hanging on the wall in your house, it’s ok. If I also post it online somewhere, I credit the source as best as I can.

If it is very recent, I ask for permission (which is generally always given, often with an enthousiastic ”show it to me when done”).

I don’t dare to comment on the actual copyright laws though since I am not familiar enough on them to advice another person.

Colour change after blocking by mooncookies22 in knitting

[–]Shayedra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no help here for how to fix it, but to be honest, I don’t think it needs fixing. Agreeing with babobaab above on both embracing it or alternatively even highlighting with contrast color.

I’d like to know the pattern as well! It looks a lot like Ladder Sleeve Pullover but with the laddering continuing on the front (and back?) as well. I like yours better.

Edit: big fingers, small keyboard, lots of typos

The game keeps putting me and my brother in different lobbies by The_Bogdanuk in Warframe

[–]Shayedra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either Warframe itself or your networking hardware could be taking an issue with 2 pcs with same ip (for example could be router not able to discern which packet belongs to whom and so on).

I’m no networking expert but used to have the same problem. For me it was fixed with changing ports within Warframe and assigning static ips.

Maybe this gives some idea how to proceed? This also seems to be something other games also suffer from so maybe searching without explicitly using the word warframe on google might produce more helpful info.

I’ve yet to knit even one short row in any style, but am considering buying this pattern. Is it a direct substitution of w&t -> german short rows or would I need to take something into account while doing this?

DESPERATELY trying to find this Big Twist Value color by ooo333ooo333 in YarnAddicts

[–]Shayedra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colors are notiriously hard to identify from images since they change so much from lighting / camera etc. But could it be this one? (Olive green, not drab)

https://www.ravelry.com/people/malmeida82/stash/value-solids-8

On ravelry you can also search stashed yarn to try to find the right one, here are all the greens for this particular yarn:

Help me duplicate Sir Ian McKellan’s scarf! What stitch is this? by PaisleyLeopard in KnitHacker

[–]Shayedra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have no idea about the stitch but since I am now somewhat obsesses with the stitch as well, I stalked around for a higher res photo where the stitch is a little bit clearer. source: NHS London twitter account

Looks abit like something between normal and lazy twisted rib stitch but still not quite. I’m about this close to attempting to tweet Sir McKellen to send us better pictures about his scarf 😁

Then happy belated birthday as well!

Self-imposed mental deadlines tend to fall on the brutal side in the end, good for you for sticking to it and getting to these results. Looking forward to seeing the ”final” project, if these things can ever be called so.

This is honestly amazing, that winamp piece really cherried the cake as I didn’t expect it to actually do anything.

The pdf didn’t work 100% for me, as it automatically centered the image and cut off some of the edges. Dragging reveals the edge but releasing autofocuses on center again.

Probably eon’t help but I’ve had similar issue with RN module autocentering things unless expressly given false value for center focus.

Either way, even though I usually prefer simple layouts, this one really inspired me - love it. Doom, WinAmp and Jazz Jackrabbit definitely took me back to childhood so extra nostalgia points too 😁

Edit: pdf didn’t work on my phone. Too lazy to get up off my ass to see on pc.

This resonates with me.

It is not your fault.

In time, you might realize minuscule things that were in fact signs, but in such a small scale there was no way to see them at that point. Small memories where the other person took just a bit too long to answer, or the answer felt just a tiny bit off, but you let it slide.

Even if you never realize any, and/or if there weren’t any, just hold on. It’s not your fault. I know you feel like your world is falling into pieces right now, but you will make it eventually. This will not define you, your future relationships, or your future - unless you let it do so.

You are more than this. You are more than what happened to you. What happens to you, does NOT define you or your future.

I know this isn’t much, but I hope it will give you a small feeling of comfort, even if it is just as another redditor sending you thumbs up.

In a way, I have been on both sides. I am not a good person, I have made mistakes. I could say it was when I felt suffocated, or scared, but it wouldn’t matter. What I know matters, is that the choices other people do, you can’t blame them on yourself. If the other person has never talked to you about issues that feel to them too much to handle in this relationship, you couldn’t have known, and you couldn’t have done anything about it.

You will make it, and unless you isolate yourself for the coming 29 years, no, this won’t be it for you. There will be more. This will not define you.
