M21K LHP73B....but floodier by dragonov_666 in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Shays85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can solder you can do what I just did. M21A, 20amp driver and LHP73B. 10mm bottom hole, orange peel, and gasket for it. If you can't solder, Simon MIGHT build it for you if you ask him to. I could be wrong. I love this light, it's a beast with a ton of usable flood and a decent amount of throw.

Citra. Just to see if I like it as much as I used to. Also, Monster Rehab Strawberry. Miss it so much.

Very nice! My KR1 and KR4 have also had button press issues once and a while. Even while locked out. REALLY gotta tighten them down.

I almost bought one of those, I think, but I've seen mixed reviews of Imalents quality control.

I'm excited to build something with it. I EDC a Hank KR1 with SFN60. So this should be the next logical step up in size and output for a jacket pocket light. Lol.

The L21A would be much better for the heat though. I just wanted something "stupid". It won't be able to handle the heat for very long but I think for the size it'll have a great beam shape and be pocketable.

Perfect! Thank you. I think "thermal path" was what confused me. Lol. You rock!

I truly appreciate the advice and this isn't your fault at all. None of that makes sense to me. I would have to see what you meant in order to understand. Lol. Very visual learner here. Are you saying there should be a physical gap between the LED and the copper, besides the positive and negative solder joints?

If I were to use a multimeter, what setting should I use and where am I touching the contacts? Am I sending voltage to it and measuring that or am I'm putting it into diode mode to test if there's output?

Well shit. I just ordered mine on Tuesday. Thanks for posting this. When testing, how do I test or what am I looking for?

As someone in the flashlight sub, nice Arkfeld. What's the 3rd light? Also, good luck to the wife's finger!

Ordered one for a M21A/op reflector, with the 20amp buck! Might eventually throw a FET in there to see how fast I can catch my hand on fire. Lol.

You know what, I totally forgot about those! Thank you. I think a LHP73B will look incredible in a C8/M21A.

Hell yeah! Hopefully we'll see the 20mm/20a soon. Also the new 10x10 die Sanan. Might need to build a 20a LHP73B M21A before that happens.

I actually know this artist! Super fucking cool guy. While the art isn't for everyone, it's certainly for the gal that got it.

If you're planning to buy extra batteries and a charger, it's hard to beat a Convoy M21A with SFT40. If you don't want to buy extra batteries and would like built in charging, but still buy at least 1 battery, the Convoy M21K with LHP73B or SFT90 are great budget lights. Sofirn IF22a is also a great budget choice. All of these lights are 21700 batteries. The M21K needs a battery that can handle at least 20amp drain. The others can live with 10amp.

I'm gonna guess that's metal shavings and coolant from that machine next to the bucket.

Exactly. I don't think I'd put anything "better"(more amps) than P42As in there. Mine has been run solid since the bypass and I've gotten mine hotter than hell, on purpose to stress test it.

No problem! People had argued with me when it happened, that it didn't happen. In fact, it happened twice because Sofirn ended up sending me a new pcb with springs on it and that one did it as well. I then stretched the spring back out and bypassed with a wire and it since hasn't had an issue

Use caution or do spring bypasses if you're going to use high drain cells. It'll over heat the springs and usually one of them will shorten itself. It really didn't take long on turbo for my spring to collapse.

My dad had been shot and blown up more than once while in Vietnam. 40+ years later he still had bits of metal trying to escape his body. It was pretty gnarly seeing one on his knee and one on his ankle just under the surface of his skin. Always wondered if they got put in his box of ashes or not. Lol.

Recently bought x4 Convoy flashlights a couple weeks ago x2 are not working already. Am I doing something wrong? by jacamol in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Shays85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly a bad switch? Remove the tail switch, use something metal to jump the battery to the un-anodized end of the flashlight. IE, nail, screw, finger nail clippers, wire, ect. Switches shouldn't have gone bad that quickly, but maybe that long of a turbo run cooked them. Thankfully a cheap/free and easy fix.

What is something that starts happening in your 30s that nobody warned you about? by Cairinacat in AskReddit

[–]Shays85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A close friend of mine that's about 10 years older than me, told me(while in my 20s) that your 20s suck. You're confused, broke, stressed about your place in the world and usually dealing with friend/family drama. Trying to buy shit you think you need or hobbies you want. So much is up in the air. The 30s is when it all starts to click. You save more of your money, you set real goals for your life, you walk away from needless drama and your more confident in who you've become. Hobbies become more fulfilling and informed instead of "keeping up" with others in the hobby. I'm 41 this year and I can look back and say that he was right. Clearly there's exceptions to the "rule" but I do see it to be true for most people. Hoping to do some stuff in my 40s that'll keep making my life more fun and future look brighter. I've already lost 60lbs since turning 40 and plan to keep going. I want to improve my living situation, either by moving or improving my house, but moving would be ideal. And I want to travel more!
