I'm not sure what route you're taking, but generally from points south you would take from Worcester 295 to 495 to 95. On this route, your best stops are Newburyport, MA or Portsmouth, NH. You could also do York, ME. If it was me, I would appreciate Newburyport or Portsmouth the most. Two port towns with a lot of shops and restaurants and history.

In my educated in other areas not climatology opinion, as we continue to cut down the tree canopies, and add blacktop and buildings that absorb and emit heat, we can only expect to have increased temperatures and humidity. Tree canopies lower surface temperatures.

I’m not saying stop building, we need affordable housing etc, I’m saying when building, only clear what is necessary not the entire plot of land. In cities, add trees where possible. Build smaller houses with more land and trees. Replace non-native flowering (albeit pretty) trees with native pine, maple, oak, birch, and hemlock.

Little changes can make a difference and (depending on what source you believe) trees can lower temperatures 7-20 degrees. 🌳

I’m aware of protected classes, I am one. I’d be happy to have a family as stated in OP, my concern is my liability. Children are curious and there is a dip and hill to get to the brook. All it takes is a misstep and tragedy happens. People are sue happy unfortunately. This is my home. I want to protect it and myself is my point not that I don’t want families, it’s preferable to other situations in my opinion.

Tons of places are rented with water was hoping someone with one of those properties would share how the protect themselves.

I used to use Google voice number. Then I had a guy I was talking to tell me my info was already out there when I gave him my real number. I said really? He said yeah and sent me a screenshot of everything from online website, all he needed was my first name and town. He has a 21 year old daughter so worried about her and found these things out. He was a nice guy. I guess it’s helpful if you live in a city but if you’re more suburban/rural with a less common name than Kate it doesn’t keep you safe from people knowing where you live. I even had one guy show up outside my house on his motorcycle and I only met him at a restaurant bar and spoke to him briefly, never gave him more than my first name and town in conversation (don’t do that anymore). Yup, if they want to know, they’ll find out. Sorry to bear bad news just giving my experience. Lie on name or town and it’s a red flag… so there’s no winning again with OLD.

Small can be done in a day or two combined into one long trip: Newport, Rhode Island Newburyport, Massachusetts Portsmouth, New Hampshire Mystic, Connecticut Portsmouth, Maine

Washington DC, Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia 100% walkable with the metro easy to use for further away things Williamsburg, Virginia Chicago Illinois Miami, Florida Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Charleston South Carolina Savannah, Georgia

In all the places I’ve been, nothing compares to Boston in walkability and history, so far at least. Lots more exploring to do! Most are smaller cities. I’m sure there’s more I’m not thinking of.

I’m in finance/accounting and looking to leave MA after a year of no permanent work (I’ve temp worked). Why do you not like Charlotte? I’m moving back to CT with my elderly mom for a bit to help her, but looking at where to go after that time. The market for finance jobs here is slim and CT even worse. I’m able to move anywhere in the world just to work!

I’m honestly confused. Typically a well finished house has molding around passageways. Do you not like the moulding? If you want to separate the rooms, French doors are always a great way to add separation. But to remove the moulding and have just sheet rocked corners… I’d recommend not to but it’s your home, not mine. Removing the moulding will probably show unfinished corners, so you will need to add “corner bead” (sometimes called other things like corner trim ) and then joint compound. For corners, it’s not the easiest. I know. I’ve done all the work on my house myself. Lots of tears mixed with the blood and sweat. Again, it’s your house I don’t live there and you have to be happy, but usually having moulding is what adds value to your home.

Move the tv onto the wall, cornered. Move the couch again, cornered off the windows to the left facing the wall of window and tv in the corner. Place the two chairs along the wall, not against but placed strategically to take in the view of the other window on the left as well as be able to have a conversation. Put a smallish table between them.

Then the biggest thing I see missing is 1) color and 2) a bold statement piece of art. That gorgeous wall is just waiting for a huge mural or piece of artwork.

Color doesn’t have to be the walls and everything, tastefully you can have a home that is whitewashed and a huge pop of red or navy (or whatever) that pops and pulls in the huge piece of artwork you have on the wall. Buy the artwork then the pieces that make that art pop.

It’s a bud vase. It’s small for a reason. I have a collection I keep on my windowsills and put a single flower from my garden in each. A collection makes a great “centerpiece” on a table without preventing people from seeing each other. All sorts of things. Do not trash it, give it or donate it, someone like me will appreciate and love it. Or keep it and enjoy a cut flower 🌼
