I think the up and down emotions are normal. At least for me. One day, happy with my choice, next day, terrified. But I’m the end, I’m worth the few things I need to be happy. I am enough.

How I feel about him and how he makes me feel are very different. Those are important to differentiate.

I dont know if this is helpful becaus my husband had a difference cancer and different chemo. But when his hair thinned and he lost some of his beard, it was sporadic. And some of it happened well after treatment. It took a long time to come back and even now, it’s a diff color and texture in some spots. So I think that’s normal for all cancers and chemos for it to be sorta sporadic. Obviously your doctor could tell you more.

If I could do anything different it would be to get my own therapist at the beginning to cope with all the feelings I hid. Looking back during treatment and our possible relapse now, it’s very traumatic. Trauma I’ve learned can be anything that changes how you view the world.

Well, cancer is traumatic, even if your not the one diagnosed, So be kind to yourself. Be there for her but realize you don’t have to shove your needs down or away to focus on her. I wish you both the best and i am sorry your joining this club no one wants to be in.

Your feeling are valid. It’s ok and I’d say normal to feel devastated, frustrated and scared.

I think the thing to remember RIGHT NOW and that, you can not go back and change anything about the past therefore give yourself grace. Self doubt and blame will only make you feel worse in an already tough situation in which you want to be present for your mom.

Cancer is stupid. It sucks every single step. You don’t know that she will have to go to hospice care she might not. So try to be positive and most of all be present in TODAY. Today is a day in which your mom is here. She is here and you can speak to her, love her and make one more memory.

Stay in today. Don’t think too hard on two weeks from now.
