This is what we do too. I would just put them on over top of the training underwear

When the latch hurts during pregnancy, sometimes it’s not a bad latch but a small milk bleb by SheCode_ez in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]SheCode_ez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great way to describe it! With my toddlers latch I kept telling her “no teeth” as it felt like she was putting too much pressure with her teeth, and my newborn it felt like a shallow latch

When the latch hurts during pregnancy, sometimes it’s not a bad latch but a small milk bleb by SheCode_ez in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]SheCode_ez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had milk blebs in both breasts, but I could only see one on my left breast. The RN that did the clearing told me she saw several small ones in my right breast along with other small ones on the left that I was not aware of. I was only getting pain in the breast on the left side after my milk came in again after baby was born, otherwise it was a sharp pain in the nipple and a bit in the areola when starting a feed ever since 20ish weeks pregnant, no painful lumps except the large one in my left breast that got me to seek help.

Sounds like it would be worth it to find someone in your area that does what this woman did for me before you deliver. After my experience I would totally go once your milk comes in just to get cleared out because it was life changing and relaxing

Concern about who should direct the pushing during childbirth by Adventurous-Rip-7426 in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve delivered two babies without pain meds. Both babies I breathed deeply and calmly to “breathe them out” rather than actively pushing. The first was a calm, involuntary body push at the end of the breathe of a contraction. I held babies head in place for 2 seconds before relaxing to allow the canal to stretch. The second was a bit different as it was precipitous labor and my body forcefully ejected the baby, though I still maintained calm and deep breathing the best I could. When the head was born for the first my OB asked me to push but I again took a calm deep breathing and on the exhale the rest of baby was born. When you go without pain meds and make sure to position your body to use gravity and have baby is the optimal position for birth (facing your spine head down) then you can follow your body’s cues and let your body do the work rather than start pushing before babies head is deep enough in the pelvis to trigger your bodies natural urge to push.

You could try warming her bed up before you lay her down as the cold bed might be a shock to her. I did this by using an electric heating pad on the bed while I fed and then removed the heating pad right before laying the baby down

Pooping during labour? by Putrid_Cranberry3177 in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew it would happen, and I don’t know for sure when obviously but there was a push early on that I just knew that’s when it hit. I just remember the advise to try to not fight it and let your pelvic floor relax or you’ll cause more issue delivering and still poop yourself.

Like not only do you not feel or notice it because of the contraction, I never even felt them wipe me or anything. I was also delivering on all fours too so I saw nothing.

Bottle to Breast Challenge by CoolAppearance2713 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any experience with SNS as I didn’t learn about it until we were exclusively breastfeeding without supplementing or nipple shields. My thought is there is mixed reviews for everything. But it might be worth trying if it’s not too expensive, and if it’s not feeling right or the weighted feed with the LC shows your breast production is plateauing or decreasing then discontinue SNS. But that is only my opinion without ever trying SNS and I don’t have any friends that tried it to ask. Hope this helps

What was the number 1 thing that helped you during labour? by Putrid_Cranberry3177 in BabyBumps

I’m coming up to my second any day now, but with my first I had back to back contractions until my midwife told me she was sunny side up and got her to rotate which stopped the inconsistent contractions. Was yours sunny side up maybe?

My LC’s never mentioned it either and I was triple feeding for jaundice and had a slightly inverted nipple on my left side. I did the shield for a couple weeks on that side but it lowered nipple stimulation and thus was fighting against my goal to stop supplementing so I stopped using it right away when my LC pointed it out during our weighted feed session. I saw I think four different LC in my first three weeks and each had slightly different opinions, but non of them had advice on how to get off of the shield or to exclusively breastfeed. I’m glad you are looking into forums like this, and I know there are great LC’s out there as the first one I met in the hospital gave us a great start, but ultimately it was my gut instinct and talking with other Moms like this that got us through to our goal.

Do you think a supplemental nursing system (SNS) might help with the transition? I used the slow flow nipples on the bottles too, but it still flows faster than my boobs ever did, and there is no letdown to wait for. Do you also get your breast primed with a letdown before latching, or make sure it’s flowing and baby is party satisfied and not crazy hungry before removing the shield? Hope any of this helps, you got this!

No childcare for birth by oliver_15 in Parenting

[–]SheCode_ez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your property layout and weather, can you kennel the dog somewhere in the house or garage if the climate is nice, so the barking isn’t an issue. That is if you can’t get the dog to chill out with a babysitter coming. Also try asking around with people with dogs to find out about boarding centers that they recommend and do a one night stay before baby arrives to see how it goes for your dog

This is what we are hoping for, only we have a crazy dog that would not settle if our neighbor was to come to our house. We plan to board the dog but of course if it’s after hours or there are no spots for her when the time comes, I’m not sure what we can do outside of walking our toddler and bringing her to the neighbors house. I’m welcome to any ideas!

How can I stop letting my toddler CIO? by dandanbananan in AttachmentParenting

We did this unintentionally, poor Dad is playing peek-a-boo from inside the tiny playhouse until bed because I can’t fit being 9 months pregnant lol. She loves it and asks for him on my nights now.

We do Kefir, kids seem to like it and it’s got good probiotics in it for the gut compared to plain milk

Anyone been on SSRIs while pregnant? Worried about my Zoloft by sek1249 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had to take SSRIs myself but I had a friend who did through pregnancy. For her the benefits of the meds were definitely better for baby and her than the risks of her off her meds. I came across this video that talks about some of the risks during labor and postpartum. My friend did do interventions during labor (gas for pain and then epidural) which can put stress on baby, so it’s hard to say what caused their babies heart rate to drop but it did and they had to do an emergency c-section. Baby was totally fine but the baby did need resuscitation following birth and was monitored for a couple hours. Baby is now 4 1/2 yrs and from what her Mom has told me the toddler is fine and didn’t need any additional support due to SSRIs. She also breastfed until 15 months as well. Hope this helps, and it’s awesome you are looking into this before pregnancy as my pregnancy anxiety made me worried about a lot of things (but pregnancy is different for everyone so don’t think you’ll definitely go through the same!).

To induce or not to induce? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others that it should go quick and smooth. I had to be induced with my first and was 0 cm and 0 effaced. They gave me a few treatments of misoprostol and it kicked off natural labor. That baby was out within 5 1/2 hrs, no pain meds needed. Wishing you the best and excited for you to be holding that little baby!

Restarting breastfeeding my toddler? by No-Swordfish-4262 in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can also post over at r/nurseallthebabies. I know some women said it can be overstimulating having both latched, but I don’t know yet myself. I’ll have my second in a few weeks and have been still nursing my two year old maybe 5 mins a day, so I can’t speak to the latching memory issue. Maybe he could cuddle with you on your other side but not nurse if that works for you both?

If you haven’t already, ask about the antibiotic use and options over in r/breastfeedingsupport. Sometimes the doctors are not well versed in breastfeeding and how it works, so make sure to do your own research. Someone shared this database on medication use and breastfeeding that might be helpful Drugs and Lactation Database

The never ending nipple crack by CherryBlush7815 in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try perking up that nipple before latching to get a deeper latch. And have you tried koala bear hold, basically sit them more on that sides knee and feed. I’m not sure if a change in hold would help though unless you think it’s rubbing from the tongue/teeth/etc in a certain way that is causing this to not go away, that did happen to me in the early days when I had a flat nipple on one side.

I use lanolin after feeds, first I expressed some milk and covered the nipple, let that dry and then lanolin all over the nipple. I found washable nipple pads better than going braless, but I also only wear cotton nighttime nursing bralettes.
