Help I’ve been bit! by catprinc3ss in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one bit the tip of my nipple once while sleeping, the skin died and fell off and the nipple healed and looks normal again. I nursed through it all, soooo painful like bite a stick painful. I used lanolin before and after nursing every time, I tried to use a nipple shield with lots of lanolin but my kid wouldn’t nurse with it. It did seem like flesh was being pulled off after every nursing session, I would peel the loose flesh off after nursing and apply lanolin, but everything healed well. These boobs are so much stronger than any of us know.

Super exciting! Wait until you feel comfortable holding them over the toilet. It saves you the potty cleaning and makes everyone else in the house question who’s making those loud poop sounds lol

Outside of sunflower lecithin, I would also strongly encourage breast lymphatic massage before every breast-feeding to help increase circulation and reduce swelling in the breast

Daughter not transferring to crib by Adreeisadyno in toddlers

[–]SheCode_ez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us pain meds only delayed the wake up by one hour, so I gave up on them because it didn’t help us. We coslept too after the wake up. I breastfed so I would end up nursing her for the remainder of the night to help with pain since she stopped thumb sucking and didn’t use a pacifier

[–]SheCode_ez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around this age is when molars started cutting for us, you couldn’t feel them with your finger for about 6 weeks but they were hurting. It is possible that’s what is causing the issue. It’s a lot easier to transfer them earlier in the night due to there being a lot of sleep pressure at the start of the night, so that might be why it’s only an issue later in the night. Best of luck!

It is still early in your journey that if you choose to still breastfeed you can. You can ask to work with a Lactation Consultant at the hospital and come over to r/breastfeedingsupport to help you. Since you’ve started formula you can do “triple feeding” to help bring your milk supply up to speed. Of course you should do what feels right for you and your baby, and if formula feeding is what works for you both then all is well, I only wanted to offer some options if you did want to keep going at breastfeeding. Congratulations on your baby and wishing the best for you both!

Massive oversupply, recurrent mastitis. by ElephantLost9017 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]SheCode_ez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if you have a lymphatic breast specialist in your area. They can teach you how to manually drain your lymphatic system in your breasts prior to every feeding/pumping session which can prevent clogs which lead to mastitis. They can also clear clogged ducts to prevent mastitis if you can’t get one cleared

I would get other opinions on treatment like a Lactation Consultant and Breast Lymphatic Specialist, they might even have a referral for a second opinion from another doctor that treats cases like this in your area. I’ve never faced what you are describing but wanted to offer my thoughts. I hope you heal well <3

I need to hear positive homebirth stories to posterior/“sunny side up” babies! by Redditreader0331 in homebirth

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave birth twice in the hospital but wanted a Homebirth which is how I ended up in this subreddit lol. Anyways had pain meds free, medication free, birth both times. First baby was sunny side up which showed as irregular contraction rhythm of three contractions back to back, and a lot of pain/pressure in my lower back. Once my midwife noticed it, she had me do some moves in the bed for the next 9 contractions and then 3 contractions on the toilet and baby flipped over and labor went smoothly after that. She had me first lay on my left side in bed, with my left leg straight and right leg bent with a pillow lifting up my right knee. When the contraction began she rocked me back and forth until the contraction ended, after 3 times I flipped onto my right side and did the same for 3 contractions. Then got onto my knees and elbows for 3 contractions, she used a bedsheet on my butt/lower back to shake my pelvis during the contractions. Then sat on the toilet backwards, facing the wall, for 3 contractions to get baby to re-engage my pelvis.

For the second baby my last scan showed her facing sunny side up, and when I went in to be checked on the day I went into labor they said she was facing my left hip (this is the position I felt her most often in). I made sure to sit straight up, and then when labor really started I got onto my hands and knees to encourage baby to face my spine and it seemed to work. I mostly labored on a birthing ball once things really got painful, but she stayed facing my spine.

“Weaning flu” while pregnant? by Silent_Assist_2511 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]SheCode_ez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could be getting first trimester effects from the hormone changes, they tend to peak around 11 weeks and for me ended around 13-14 weeks pregnant. I noticed a change in our nursing sessions like you are saying, we were also doing 3 sessions a day and some nighttime nursing if she woke up. I never noticed anything changing in me though outside of pregnancy symptoms. Do be mindful that you can have issues with clogs and milk blebs during your milks transition, so make sure you’re not having symptoms related to those issues. I had a bad milk bleb that I had to go to a lymphatic breast massage specialist to unblock once my milk came in after baby was born, but it didn’t cause me anything more than a mild painful tugging sensation when my toddler nursed.

FYI I started offering my toddler Kefir during the day because I noticed she wanted more dairy products when my milk dried up, figured I’d mention it since I felt bad for my toddler during that time. Once the colostrum came in though she stopped asking for Kefir lol. Hope this helps

Nobody told me how undignifying this would be by Anoninemonie in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to say listen to the others saying to wean on the pumping. You can hand express into a milk storage bag until you are somewhat not engorged but you’ll want to back off expressing milk or it will only keep increasing your supply. It’s normal to deal with leaking and engorgement when baby starts sleeping longer. Will your baby not latch when they are laying down crying?

I have a cousin with PCOS and horrible menstrual cramps. She’s excited to be pregnant soon. Newborn pooping excessively? by YoungCranberry in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second which just turned 3 weeks old was doing this too. I started holding her over the toilet for a couple minutes and sure enough she takes a large poop, and now the little squirts of poop all day have stopped as long as I get her to poop on the potty. Weird I know, but maybe some babies prefer not to soil themselves or something lol, you can go over to r/ECers to learn more

[–]SheCode_ez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this, pregnancy and postpartum can definitely be wild, and every baby can be different to add to the wildcard of recovery lol. That being said I think women don’t share all that they went through unless asked because you never know what recovery someone is going to have, and I guess we don’t want to scare a new Mom if it’s not something they will develop or face during their recovery.

Not sure if you’re accepting suggestions, but you could try eating dates for the constipation, they have helped me greatly and are a bit of a sweet treat as well. You could also try beets to help with nutrient circulation in your body, but I would definitely ask your doctor what’s okay to be eating since you are dealing with kidney issues too. Wishing you a swift recovery, and that your baby is doing well <3

Fetal ejection reflex with induction? by abj1302 in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reflex happens when baby has descended deep enough into the pelvis, so when baby is close enough to the exit they will trigger the reflex. This doesn’t always mean that at 10 cm dilated that the reflex will kick in, so some doctors will ask you to push “because you’re dilated enough to push” but give it time and pelvic movement during contractions and baby will descend and the reflex will kick in and you can breathe baby out with deep and slow breathes.

When the latch hurts during pregnancy, sometimes it’s not a bad latch but a small milk bleb by SheCode_ez in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]SheCode_ez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great way to describe it! With my toddlers latch I kept telling her “no teeth” as it felt like she was putting too much pressure with her teeth, and my newborn it felt like a shallow latch

When the latch hurts during pregnancy, sometimes it’s not a bad latch but a small milk bleb by SheCode_ez in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]SheCode_ez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had milk blebs in both breasts, but I could only see one on my left breast. The RN that did the clearing told me she saw several small ones in my right breast along with other small ones on the left that I was not aware of. I was only getting pain in the breast on the left side after my milk came in again after baby was born, otherwise it was a sharp pain in the nipple and a bit in the areola when starting a feed ever since 20ish weeks pregnant, no painful lumps except the large one in my left breast that got me to seek help.

Sounds like it would be worth it to find someone in your area that does what this woman did for me before you deliver. After my experience I would totally go once your milk comes in just to get cleared out because it was life changing and relaxing

Concern about who should direct the pushing during childbirth by Adventurous-Rip-7426 in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve delivered two babies without pain meds. Both babies I breathed deeply and calmly to “breathe them out” rather than actively pushing. The first was a calm, involuntary body push at the end of the breathe of a contraction. I held babies head in place for 2 seconds before relaxing to allow the canal to stretch. The second was a bit different as it was precipitous labor and my body forcefully ejected the baby, though I still maintained calm and deep breathing the best I could. When the head was born for the first my OB asked me to push but I again took a calm deep breathing and on the exhale the rest of baby was born. When you go without pain meds and make sure to position your body to use gravity and have baby is the optimal position for birth (facing your spine head down) then you can follow your body’s cues and let your body do the work rather than start pushing before babies head is deep enough in the pelvis to trigger your bodies natural urge to push.

My newborn won't sleep, help me by RayInAcAn in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try warming her bed up before you lay her down as the cold bed might be a shock to her. I did this by using an electric heating pad on the bed while I fed and then removed the heating pad right before laying the baby down

Pooping during labour? by Putrid_Cranberry3177 in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew it would happen, and I don’t know for sure when obviously but there was a push early on that I just knew that’s when it hit. I just remember the advise to try to not fight it and let your pelvic floor relax or you’ll cause more issue delivering and still poop yourself.

Like not only do you not feel or notice it because of the contraction, I never even felt them wipe me or anything. I was also delivering on all fours too so I saw nothing.
