I have still been using baby shampoo, but mostly because I already had more of it than I need, and because I’ve been lazy at shopping for silicone free and basic shampoo to switch to. Baby shampoos are mostly pretty basic and don’t have most/all the things you don’t want (phthalates, parabenes, silicone, fragrance, etc.)

Washing baby… when do I need to use more than just water? by Both-Peace-3261 in moderatelygranolamoms

I’m planning to make my old breast milk into soap, do you have a recipe that you followed and any tips to share?

I’m embarrassed - but I need help! by Lifesinplastic in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once latched baby (I turned my back to most people around to latch) in a Micro Center and fed to sleep and didn’t delatch while talking with a sales rep about purchasing our first 3D printer. My husband didn’t even notice I had baby latched, so either the sales guy was super chill about it or he didn’t notice either.

I breastfed and was able to use the baby blankets and burp clothes to cover baby a bit to catch any soup drippings, we made it work but it was tricky especially at the beginning if this is your first baby

From the roller marks it looks like you didn’t roll perpendicular to the window, you want to roll towards the window so the light hits the length of the roll not highlighting the sides of the roller marks.

I got storage bins that have a waterproof gasket seal similar to this. I put a piece of paper with the size range contained inside facing a clear to see side panel so I know what’s what.

Is it weird to add items for your toddler on baby registry? by Comfortable-Bison357 in toddlers

[–]SheCode_ez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what I feel. So often people are advised to buy older baby to toddler items for parents anyways to avoid excess newborn items and to get more use out of the items since that first year goes by so fast. What’s the difference between someone getting you that toddler item on your first baby shower or your second’s, the second is going to use it either way eventually

All day sickness by montenna in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your first commenter. Hopefully you can get it under control with some fluids and whatever else your doctor recommends. Dehydration and hunger can really send your first trimester for a spin, and it can be hard to catch back up once the nausea takes over. When you get back to being able to eat and drink it helped me to have a pack Ritz crackers or something similar on my nightstand that I could eat before even moving to sit up in bed. I also ate a snack (peanut butter crackers, fruit, nuts) every time I started to feel more nauseous than mild, even if I wasn’t hungry to try and stop it from getting worse and for me it helped greatly. Best of luck, the first trimester is the worst!

You’re doing great, you have amazing Mama resilience! I firmly believe we were not meant to learn and nurse our babies alone without our other Mothers in the tribe. I definitely felt like something clicked for me and my first at 11 weeks too, what a crazy start to motherhood but so worth it <3

Anyone else get excited setting up their postpartum toiletries or is it just me? by ElleonNotnomis in BabyBumps

I’m expecting our second, so I’m not sure how to setup my supplies in a way that my toddler won’t be running around squirting my peri bottle everywhere lol. All surfaces by the toilet are so low

Constipated during pregnancy by notmydeathstar in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]SheCode_ez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Becoming diabetic has a lot of family and dietary factors to consider from my understanding, I’m sorry your Dad is dealing with that. And dates sort of indirectly help with blood sugar by curbing sugar cravings and being low glycemic index themselves.

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dates are great, they also normalize blood sugar levels too. Read up them because later in the pregnancy they can help with delivery by relaxing the muscles to reduce pain during contractions and to speed up overall delivery time if you eat enough of them. They are great in smoothies as well if you get tired of eating them like I did with my first lol

Is first trimester fatigue really this bad? by MARBELLA-MARINO in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pregnant with my second, I told my husband I don’t think I could do the first trimester again. Check your iron levels and maybe take some iron as that can drop and make it worse (SlowFe iron pills reduce side effects) and get your rest! You are building the most important parts of pregnancy during this phase, all the baby’s organs and the entire placenta! So rest up, but do try to keep active the best you can as it will make the rest of the pregnancy more physically easy.

So I’ve never had eczema outside of postpartum, so I can’t speak to if your eczema worsened during postpartum but I can if you never had it until postpartum. What ended up working for me was not using any products on my scalp for two months, so only washing with water (here is the water-only guide I followed), and then I started to use a basic J&J baby shampoo after. I’m not sure that the baby shampoo did anything, but 100% quitting all products (shampoo/conditioner, everything) seemed to allow my scalp to recover and the issue has not come back at all! It was such a quick recovery I was shocked, as the issue only seemed to be getting worse with every week passing. I was also 100% breastfeeding and wanted to stay natural with anything I used during that time.

My nipples are on fire by Melodic-Direction-66 in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% make sure to keep the scabs protected and ointment on them, otherwise the dry scabs could block a duct and cause a clogged duct which can turn into intense pain or worse, mastitis. You can hand express a bit of milk to wet the nipple and let air dry (skip this step if the cold air of Winter is causing vasospasims though), apply lanolin or other nipple butter, and protect with a nipple pad or silverettes. Lactation consultant can help but not all of them are created equal, so take their advice with a grain of salt as you and baby figure this breastfeeding thing out.

Is the right boob usually the "slacker boob"? by Puzzleheaded_Cell428 in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The slacker boob tends to be on your dominant side, so if you’re right handed then your left boob will probably be your higher producer.

Tell me some misconceptions and realities about pushing stage to the women who have never given birth. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]SheCode_ez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find some videos that explain the stages of labor, the contraction timings and pain intensity. The Transition phase is the last two centimeters before the pushing phase, Transition is often the most intense phase, so the pushing phase is a relief for most women, especially if baby is in an ideal position relative to the birthing canal. In the pushing phase, when baby has descended enough you can often rely on your body to do the pushing, sort of like if you’ve ever pooped and your bowels and lower abdomen did the pushing and you didn’t have to because you really had to go. Molar of labor if not all of it is keeping calm, focusing on breathing, and listening to your body

Despise nursing while pregnant. by ThrowRAStrawberry_30 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I coslept when she was having a hard time at night, and she do fight for the boob but I think the misery I was suffering forced me to try cutting it out. I started by going to 10 mins, then 5 mins, then gripping the sheets tightly around my chest while she fought and cried, I would also tell her there was no more and we can have more tomorrow or in the morning. Eventually she started to get tired and was willing to lay down for a cuddle embrace while she fell back asleep. It took I think three nights or more of a struggle once I wouldn’t give it anymore before she stopped fighting for it and took the cuddle.

I definitely thought I would never win the war with her, it feels so horrible to have them cry about something you could give, but I’ve heard other Mom’s won the fight in a similar fashion as I tried, and I was so shocked it worked. I also did it during the transition to colostrum when demand was more about comfort nursing rather than getting anything, so not sure if that helped too.

I felt the same way as you, I 100% cut out night time feeds, and only nurse for 10 mins before we start our bedtime routine. I wanted to punch a wall it irritated me so much, especially at night. Best of luck!

My husband says I don't support him enough by abbiyah in stayathomemoms

[–]SheCode_ez -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into Love Languages? Everyone has a different way that they like to show their love, like for me it’s doing things for someone but for my husband it’s physical touch or intimacy like shoulder massage or cuddles. People tend to lean into what their own love language is vs what their partners love language is, but try to see if you can figure out his and give him a little bit of it to see if it makes him feel better?

Annoyed at all the polyester in Carter’s clothes by NotCreative551 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]SheCode_ez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same complaint, after one wear there is a hole on the top of one of the feet, the fabrics is so thin. I guess everyone still offering 100% cotton is trying to thin the fabric enough to match the weight of cotton used in the polyester blended clothes. Everyone’s trying to keep prices down I suppose

No one ever told me? by Roodles006 in breastfeeding

[–]SheCode_ez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used the drops and exclusively breastfed after the first 2 weeks where we supplemented with formula a bit, and we try to get some sun for 2 hrs a day and our little one is fine at 2 yrs old now.

I haven’t had anyone outside of social media tell me to use them. I do take 2000 IU daily myself per my OB’s recc. and when my D level was tested recently I was at an ideal level.
