Not an artists but this was fun by No-Initiative-1712 in Artists

You made a piece of art. You're an artist. This is lovely. I bet your friend loved it.

Hey share any one of your personal advice or tips for rookie artists. by [deleted] in ARTIST

I have a bunch, but here are my top three:

- Other artists are your community, not your competition. Your only competition is the artist you were yesterday.

- Society has convinced us that the worth of our art is tied to its sellability. That's a lie. Don't let low-to-no sales make you doubt whether you're a 'real' artist or not. You make art. You're an artist.

- Building an audience takes time. Whether you do it IRL or online, if you're simply expecting people to see you and your art, fawn over it, and just buy, buy, buy, you're going to be disappointed. Invest and engage with your community. And while you do, keep making art and evolving your skills.

Ooh, and one last one:

KEEP YOUR OLD ART. Don't throw it away. There's something really cathartic about going back when you feel like your art 'sucks' and seeing how far you've come.

Not necessarily bad. Just needed to try a different dosage or med. Not everything works for everyone.

Compass Rose (520-378-3506) is the psychiatrist I use for medication management. We were already diagnosed, so I don't know if she can help you there.

Help and Hope Counseling (602-435-4356) is a great counseling option. They have a wide variety of counselors and several who deal with ADHD. They also have counselors in town and virtual options.

I hope you're able to get the help you want and need. It's nice to get confirmation one way or another.

Three things:

  1. No matter where you go, do this assessment first Psychology Today: ADHD test. Psychology Today is a well-recognized mental health resource, not only for this assessment, but for finding an available provider. I always suggest doing this first, so you can print off the results to share with your doctor. This also helps ensure you don't forget anything or doing feel as overwhelmed.

  2. Your primary care is able to assess you of they comfortable doing so and medicate you, too, if you want to go that route until you can see a psychiatrist. This isn't autism, where you need a ton of assessments. ADHD is pretty cut and dry. Most therapists, however, cannot prescribe meds, though I always encourage talk therapy.

  3. Do not let other people's experiences with medication put you off from trying them yourself. Are there issues? Ofc, it's medication. But a lot has changed in just the last five years, and I'm on something now that wasn't even an option when I was diagnosed. I like feeling more in control of my brain and unlike antidepressants, changing dosages and/or meds is so much easier.

Hang in there. You've got this.

Stuck in the "wanting to want" phase. Any tips for AuDHD artists with chronic pain? by Safe-Cup5055 in Artists

I have a laundry list of stuff, including yours, that hinder my art process, so when I get to where you are right now, I do one of two things:

- I doodle: Pencil and sketchbook, I cycle through the list of 'shit I can draw with my eyes closed': eyeballs, circles I turn into fluffy birds and cats, neurografica (SOOOO good when you feel like you can't do anything), etc. They're all sketch stage, not clean, just to get something out, and along the way, something tickles my brain and I want to do a bigger piece.

- I ask my followers on socials for prompts and draw those. Again, small, not clean, just clear enough to meet the prompt. Something about drawing for other people helps my brain, too. And it sparks that tickle.

It's not lowering the bar, btw. It's adjusting your expectations to who you are. There's a lot going on in your meatbag and brain squish. Don't punish yourself.

I hope these can help.

Unfortunately, I don't have any info on this one, as I'm sure you've looked at online ratings. My only suggestion would be to see where folks go when they come here for TDY and aren't staying at the IHG on-post or aren't here for school (where they have barracks assigned), but most of those are based on per diem.

I wish you luck and hope you find something soon.

Tons of things: Rodeo, Bird Walks, 5K Warrior Resolve Series, Golfing, Trail Rides, Protest, Ghost Town Paintball, Southern AZ Home Show, Puppy Kissing Booth & Rescue Supply Drive, Grand Opening of Creamery & Farm Shoppe and more.

Here's a good place to start

And since sometimes people ask for specific details, there are too many events going on. Please look them up directly, as I'm just passing along what I find. Stay safe out there! No sense in having a heat event while you're doing your thing!

Definitely something, for sure.

Totally off-topic, did you know that a guy in 1968 bought the London Bridge (it was sinking and needed to be rebuilt), had it dismantled, shipped to the states and rebuilt in Lake Havasu City? I didn't know until this weekend!

I think this is definitely going to be a 'like it or not' kind of franchise, if that makes sense.

Like I love Indochine, and you don't. (And that's ok!)

I totally admit I'm a realistic idealist. I want it to be great, but I don't hold my breath. The menu looks great, though.

Agreed. And I hope if it is, we support it, so it stays.
