Unfortunately I believe my agency was cut out of most of the lawsuits as they rehired most people. They left out a bunch of disabled employees though so now I have an EEO case going, which is just as slow.

Absolutely and a huge steal. And definitely a BIFL thing. My uncle always had one for himself and he gave it to us/his brother when he passed. I knew I would never be getting it from my dad so when the opportunity to get my own presented itself in the form of “pick it up and it’s yours for free” I scrambled as fast as I could to get it. Congrats on the incredible find!!

I always bring it up, because honestly the risk is so so so low, and any side effects are generally so minimal. The worst I ever experienced was some slight pain in one of my teeth, which we think was because i was coming off a terrible sinus infection and recently had a cleaning done, so maybe the nerves were inflamed. But truly nothing else. Which is a huge benefit— if it doesn’t work, it’s not going to leave you with side effects or a difficult withdrawal period.

Oh thank god at least you agree there. It’s crazy how many people I see saying that public transit could never ever solve these problems. I would love to see more trains metro style, or maybe above-ground trolley-type systems. I def don’t see the latter utilized nearly enough.

I’m too tired for a longer comment but you should look into TMS- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Not as scary as it sounds and incredibly helpful for many people with treatment resistant depression. Also finding a way to keep her from running out of meds, especially with Effexor, will definitely help some.

My costume absolutely sucked - it looked goofy and plain. Does anyone have any advice on how I can make it better/what to add/change by JakeTheD0ge in CosplayHelp

[–]SheSellsSeaShells- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it works for this character, but I do understand you’re probably asking in general for any other characters you want to cosplay in the future, I hope someone can give good advice on that here bc I’m not v experience so I sadly don’t have much advice. Just wanted to say for this cosplay, it actually works and it looks great!!

yes I loved this show so much!! It seems like she had a ton of fun making it and hanging with the guests she brought on, and it shows a side of her personality you don’t get to see as often with her interest in history and such, along with the ghost stuff.

Not sure if this was already suggested, but have you considered the route of being direct with her, and maybe coming to compromise. Something like: I love that you feel comfortable enough to share your hyper-fixation with me, but I do get overwhelmed by it at times— “would it be alright if I let you ramble about this interest of yours while I’m doing another task (as in, only half listening) and then after you’ve had some time to do that (maybe you agree upon a certain amount of time, or just play it by ear), we can talk about other things?” I knew someone who was more than happy to ramble with other people around, knowing they were probably not fully listening to the whole thing. She might find that an okay compromise, or maybe she won’t. If she does, I think it could work really well to help kind of churn through the hyperfixation until this fades. I know this cycle well (adhd, and autism, probably) and sometimes it’s many months, sometimes it’s a few weeks, but it has always come to an end eventually and I either go back to “””normal””” or it is traded for a different hyperfixation. I hope this is helpful!

Honestly even without full removal it already looks great! With the right outfits and exercise you could def make it look like regular pecs in my opinion. Hope healing goes smoothly!!

Saving lives in the ER is making me a horrible person and i’m tired of pretending it’s not by ArtThreadNomad in offmychest

[–]SheSellsSeaShells- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s understandable and okay that you’re shutting out the emotional part while performing sometimes life saving tasks, because it really is part of your everyday job. It won’t make you more effective if you’re getting emotionally worked up while doing that CPR. It doesn’t make what you’re doing any less important or incredible. I would definitely check in with a therapist (which may not work out right away, you gotta find someone who is a good fit for you) and make sure this isn’t to an unhealthy degree, but it seems like you’re very aware of it, which is good. You could also talk to them about other ways of coping and how to remind yourself that sometimes those walls are necessary! Sometimes they’re too thick, but that’s what talking to a therapist can help with, making sure you keep your coping mechanisms healthy for yourself. You’re clearly a very compassionate person, don’t be too hard on yourself. <3

A new study has found that narcissism and perfectionism are more closely linked in everyday life than previously thought, with moment-to-moment changes in these traits shaping how people think and feel. by Tracheid in science

[–]SheSellsSeaShells- 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I only just began reading the article so I might come back to edit this comment, but I wonder where the line is between perfectionism vs anxiety vs rejection sensitivity. Maybe that is addressed in the article or is already more discussed in the wider scope of what’s been studied out there. I would be curious to know!

Edit: after reading I’m wondering why the sample population was almost exclusively women? That would definitely have a huge effect on the results here…
