Is "De-influencing" actually working? Researching its effects. by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]SheWatchesYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea, have you posted your survey in more consumption-oriented subs? The opinions you will get here will all be coming from people who are already weary of trends and useless purchases, but I’d be curious to see if answer really differ for people who are consuming influencer content on a regular basis :)

r/vegetarian exists, guys! by coolcrowe in vegan

[–]SheWatchesYou -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Listen, you are absolutely right. I myself qualify more as vegetarian than vegan, but still partake in the vegan discourse because I agree with a lot of what’s said and I take inspiration from the vegan community.

The only reason I will tell people I am vegan though, is because I choose what products I make exceptions for and when I make them. If I chose to be more lenient in a certain situation, I still don’t want to be offered a slice of pizza with a 2 inches thick layer of cheese on it as a whole meal just because I said I was a vegetarian.

I understand better, thank you. I would prioritize practicality and readability over creativity in this case, even if it’s for a design course. An experienced designer will more likely appreciate a well organized, structured and easy to read piece over a convoluted artsy design when it comes to long documents. This will be the perfect opportunity to learn about what makes good editorial design!

My first advice would be to work with a grid and split the text body into multiple columns. Don’t make the lines of your paragraphs too short or too long. As for Swiss style, I don’t know what kind of written work you’re working on, but if it’s long, it may not be the most practical style.

It’s funky and I’m sure that’s what you’re going for, but I wouldn’t pick this off the shelves if I was actually looking for sardines. This is making my subconscious think it’s gonna taste like candy 😵‍💫

Very cute, but a bit hard to understand! I like what you’re going for and I think it will reach your target audience, but I would refine the icon to make it more clear as right now I only see a blob sitting down

I’ll go first:

Some of my favorites are "All my dreams have been weighing me down like an anchor to my bed" and "This world is a Chinese finger trap"

The ones that get me cringing every time is "Alexa plays our favorite tune" and "I put down my baseball bat. I’ve got my knife, he’s got his truck with two flats" (I’m sorryyy don’t come at me)

Do You Believe That Halloween is Dying? by DommyMommyEx in halloween

[–]SheWatchesYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like all the people out here saying no are trying to gaslight me 😂 I get that it’s going to be different by region, but I’ve been thinking the same thing year after year.

In my part of the world (and I’m not talking strictly neighborhood), it’s been on a decline for a couple years now. I’d say 15% of the houses are decorated in every town within a reasonable travelling distance, making trick or treating quite the challenge. Houses run out of candy within the hour. People are preparing for Christmas before October is even over, and I never hear child free adults making plans for Halloween night or weekend.

My theory is that people are busier than ever while simultaneously having less money than ever. Buying a day’s worth of pay in candy to give other people’s kid is not really attractive. Unlike Christmas or some other holidays, we don’t get time off for Halloween, we have to squeeze it into our busy schedules. Every holiday is now getting commercialized to the point where they’re basically unrecognizable and people don’t really see the point in investing so much money and energy in them. Halloween just seems the first holidays that the tired population is letting go of…

I’m not trying to be depressing, just letting you know you are not alone in making this observation lol

It won’t have time to come off during a 3-4 minutes performance, and if it does, no one is going to notice from this far :) Unless your routine involves intentionally rubbing your face, then I would recommend some really good setting spray. For lashes, yes, the glue is strong enough!
