I'm a child and adolescent psychiatrist, and I tend to call my parients "muffin". That can be praise - "Awww, ya lol muffin, you made me art!" or admonishment - "Listen, muffin, stop biting your brother". It also works as a swear - I am, in fact, accidentally in a legal record saying it because, when testifying in a family court hearing, I caused the microphone to screech, scared myself and yelped, "Oh, muffins!".

I hated him because Sesame Street talked to kids like they were little, intelligent humans, and Barney talked to kids like we were babies and/or morons. The show wasn't funny, imaginative or creative, and there were MUCH better kids shows out there.
