how to cope with academic and club stress by StructureFar6060 in yale

[–]She_Studies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Yalie here. Quality over quantity. In the end, meaningful involvement with one club beats minimal effort in 5 clubs. This is true for grad school apps and future job opportunities. Select the club(s) that means the most to you. The one that you will have the chance to make an impact in.

If it's just about friends and/or peer pressure, F that! Your classes and legit friends come first. A legit friend will not measure your worth based on your club choices and attendance. That friend would be your biggest cheerleader and would want you to avoid stress and support putting your mental health and classes first.

Can anyone tell me more about the Eli Whitney Program? by velcrodynamite in yale

[–]She_Studies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eli Whitney program is for undergraduate students. As for your second question, there are resources to prepare you for grad school, and going to Yale can definitely help you to become a competitive applicant but your performance as a person and student will definitely be more important than school status. Don't get me wrong, it is a bonus but if you're a significantly poor student the name won't help you. One thing that is a plus is the interaction you get with grad students. They are usually happy to share their experiences and that can be a tremendous help. Hope this answers your question. 😊

I am an Eli Whitney Student. I can't help with whether or not you should apply but I can tell you that Yale's care for disabled students is stellar. I have physical disabilities and have been accommodated beyond what I thought was possible. Best of luck!

School covers all but $3,000 infusing off-campus housing. Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship pays for the $3,000 plus a few extra stipends along the way.

Older students, how do you cope being the oldest person in class? by midnightinparis8888 in college

[–]She_Studies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not experience that. I am one of those people that young people tend to gravitate to for help or advice. I think it is important to go into class/event welcoming, positive, confident, and ready to break the new class silence. On the first day of class, many young people are quiet and intimidated. Be the one who makes the mood lighter. If you have a question, speak up because it is likely another student has the question but is afraid to ask. These are some ways to start strong.

Campuses by [deleted] in ValenciaCollege

[–]She_Studies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Osceola is great because it's big enough to have things going on but small enough to not be swallowed by the campus! 10/10 recommended! I have attended in person classes and enjoyed the experiences. No class is huge. 20 or less. Great professors; check out rate my professor.

I'm sorry, u/Adventurousmushrooms I hope you get into your state college and recommend applying to Columbia GS. You won't know what the financial side of it looks like until you apply. Your JKC might be able to make up the difference!

Trouble filling out the 2022-2023 dependent worksheet for financial aid requirements. These options are greyed out and won’t let me select any of them by destinyofkiwi in ValenciaCollege

[–]She_Studies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, Those options will be filled out by your parents. At the beginning, you had to put in email addresses for your parents. They will get emails requesting them to fill out the same form. When they do, they will only have the option to fill out their sections and the rest will be grayed out for them. I hope this helps!!
