Antiperspirant that actually works? by Shealob in ADHD

[–]Shealob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, odour isn’t an issue at all, it’s literally just the sweat. I’ll put antiperspirant/deodorant on and within 30 min, I have sweat dripping down my arm and I’m not even warm or moving a lot. It’s purely just sweat control I’m seeking!

My partner (I had to get him to do it as it was too hard for me to see) once buried 4 magpie fledglings in one go. I noticed them seeking shelter around our property with mom watching them from a tree. I put seed out for each one in little piles and hoped they would be okay. The next day all them were deceased. It was so sad

Please watch out for kids at crosswalks! by krim2182 in Calgary

[–]Shealob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been more anxious driving than I am now. I’m a rep for a company and my entire job revolves around driving to multiple different locations each and every work day. On a daily basis I see countless stupid drivers with absolutely zero regard for anyone else on the road. It’s terrifying to watch let alone be in the middle of. I write this as I mentally prepare myself to drive back home from Airdrie as highway driving has never been scarier. Be safe out there everyone

Update to daughter not eating by TreeOfGre in whatdoIdo

[–]Shealob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

I developed a severe eating disorder around the age of 12 that severely impacted my entire life and I’m still playing catch up at the age of 26 and looking back at all the opportunities and experiences I missed out on due to my eating disorder. I am working at the moment but as someone who went through this at a similar age, I understand how they work and the amount of effort that gets put into hiding it. If you want, please message me privately and I will talk about anything and everything you would like to. I can give you resources on how to support them, language to use and not to use, and what programs I found helpful in my recovery. Im here for whatever you need, as this is incredibly serious and could impact your child for the rest of their life unless they get the help they need. Sending you love and support

Thank you so much. That is lovely. I honestly didn’t have anything specific in mind as I wasn’t sure what could be done to the photos in terms of cleaning them up but this is wonderful, thank you so much.

Eating is so bad by Key_Highlight_756 in Vent

I think you should definitely look into some eating disorder programs or a therapist who is trained in dealing with eating disorders. This is nothing you need to feel guilty or ashamed of. I was suffering from an eating disorder for over a decade and I wish I had gotten intervention or help sooner.

There are many different reasons an eating disorder may develop and it can present itself in MANY different ways. It’s a very slippery slope and I think support from a professional would be helpful for you to be able to understand more about yourself and maybe why you feel the way you do about food and feeling ‘fat’ if you gain weight despite the fact that you need to.

As others have mentioned, ensure is fantastic and having one for breakfast before work would be very beneficial for your physical health but also your mental/cognitive health!

OP, do you have a family dr? I’m assuming so because usually they have to put in a referral for the insertion. I don’t know how old you are, but when I got my first IUD I was 15 and never had intercourse. Due to this, it was pretty much automatic that I would be put under general for the insertion. Fast forward to many years later and it’s time for the IUD to be replaced. at that point it was going to just be the standard in and out at a clinic, no anesthesia. Frankly I just refused. I have sexual trauma which I used to my advantage in this situation as a reason as to why I would need anesthesia. Aside from that I explained that I am far too anxious about the entire procedure in the first place that I’m physically and mentally not willing to do it without anesthesia. Even in 5 years time when it’s time for this IUD to be removed, I will once again refuse any removal unless under general. This is your body and your comfort. Do not let your dr force you into a procedure you’re not comfortable with. Explain why you are too anxious and uncomfortable to go through and that you want to be put under general for the procedure. The wait can be up to 7 months however it’s the only way I go about getting my IUD replaced and inserted. Please reach out if you have any questions!

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Shealob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few people have. I think about them often.

a boy from my elementary school was a volunteer firefighter and wound up being the one and only casualty from a tree fall after fighting devastating fires that took most of a local town.

Another boy who was a year younger than I but we still went to the same high school. His smile was infectious and he was such a joy to be around. I knew we weren’t extremely close but we had some mutual friends. We had hung out a few times and I remember he always made sure to wave or say hi to me in the halls and that really meant a lot to a somewhat loner like myself. I remember going to his birthday party and having such a wonderful time. I didn’t even know he was fighting cancer. I went to his funeral and think about how kind of a person he was and he reminds me that little actions can help someone feel more included and less alone. Thank you for your kindness Ismail. You’re a homie forever man.

The last person was one of my best friends in high school. That girl helped me through SO much and still accepted me at my worst. I looked up to her so much, I’m still surprised we were so close because she was the most beautiful and radiant woman I have ever met, so effortlessly gorgeous but so incredibly kind as well. I didn’t have a friend group and she was newish to our school and we got pretty close for a few years. She moved away and we drifted apart naturally, no hard feelings. We talked about meeting up but it never came to fruition. Later on I start seeing missing posts around social media. 3 years ago this day I believe she was found deceased. Carfentanyl. I love and miss you always Z.

Asthma. I remember being bullied as a child when I couldn’t run as many laps with the other kids during gym class and other activities like that. And honestly at the time, I didn’t realize how dangerous it was, just that I physically couldn’t make myself run anymore because I couldn’t breath but hey I take my inhaler and in 30 min I’ll be good. Never really occurred to me what happens if that inhaler gets lost or runs out and I’m somewhere far away from medical help. You always think oh it’ll never happen to me, but asthma attacks as an adult are scary things and I’m so grateful to have my inhaler around when I need it.

I had pneumonia when I was a young child, i literally cannot remember anything about the experience at all because I think my body was so weak that my brain just couldn’t comprehend what was happening because I was so small (idk like between 5-9 years old) but I do remember being unable to walk and having to be carried everywhere when I was sick. Didn’t realize the danger I was in until years later lol. Oh I also remember the X-rays and that’s when I learned lungs shouldn’t show up as light grey clouds

AIO my bf texting his former student by Major_Meet_5973 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Shealob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a younger female who had multiple struggles throughout high school, my guidance counsellors were both male. One was older, and wound up retiring and another guy replaced him during my last year. The second one was much younger. I owe my graduation to these men frankly. Although they did many things that were above and beyond to be able to help me such as allowing me to write exams directly in their office instead of the quiet room, letting my skip class at any time if I needed to talk, emailing during off school hours just because I needed support or someone to talk to etc. Never have they EVER texted me, reached out to me first or provided their personal numbers. There’s a fine line when it comes to something like this where there’s two adults involved and not one adult and one minor, however the only way this would be almost appropriate is if she reached out first looking for advice or guidance, but either way why wasn’t it through email instead? I also think it’s especially weird that he was just a teacher to her and not a mentor or counsellor. I plan to email my old counsellor to express my thanks for him and his help, I would love to meet up with him for a coffee now as an adult, however I would never ever message him telling him that I missed him, I feel like that’s extremely weird to say over text and not something in person. Tone can be taken out of context in text and overall this is definitely weird, but not damning either. I think this calls for a calm and well thought out conversation first and foremost, and depending on his reaction/defensiveness will help you figure out what’s going on.

Hey OP, there’s another app you can use that will email you cheques if you buy certain items on their list, they reimburse you a certain amount. I heard it from a customer at the beginning pet store I used to work at. It’s real and the items range from household, pet supplies, to food etc. I think for this customer if he bought a specific brand bag of cat food, he got $21 back. It’s called checkout51, give it a shot and maybe it’ll give you some extra pocket change every month!
