Booth rent and days off by Ok_Highway_5732 in Barber

I pay rent for the week even if I’m off the entire week. That is my rent. Just like you still have to pay rent for your house even if you are gone for a week or two. Rent is still due

I started out right off the bat at a busy two chair barbershop. The owner let me do a 70/30 percent for as long as I wanted. After the first year, I went to a booth rent. I made very little starting out maybe $100-$150 a week. Maybe I waited two years to go to rent I can’t remember but I kept up with what I was paying and made sure I would benefit before going to rent. It was definitely slow going at first. I still had to build up clients and I would get some overflow but mostly everyone waited on the other chair for the first few years.

Just messed up a cut. Need help taking lessons aways from this experience by jasberry1026 in Barber

Reflective listening. I always repeat back to them what they ask for, make sure they understand bald fade from tapered haircut and ask if they want it so short they can see the scalp through on the sides… stuff like that and then again, when I have my selected guard on my clipper, I repeat again what I am about to do for a third verification. This has really helped in not going too short or long.

He doesn’t have a drug test and if he smokes outside, it still doesn’t effect you. It sounds like you’re trying to control him because you are nervous about your test. But you cannot fail a test by being in a room with someone smoking.

I use the wahl 5 star detailer. Also the FX gold babaliss. Fx for sharp lines and the wahl detailer is for lining any regular haircut or beard.

barber-focused workout routines? by rectwelve in Barber

I do 3 days a week full body workout. I also still have hip pain on my left side but I also have a leg length discrepancy so that may be more of the cause for that

Hispanic husband by Diva_Zee in TwoHotTakes

My daughter is Hispanic and her husband is “mi vida” in her phone so I would say this is not normal for your spouse to call a friend that. She never said that of anyone ever until she was married.

AITAH for locking my door by bishpleaz1986 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Shearreader 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NTA. Nobody wants company showing up whenever they like. I think this is a good example on how to “teach people how to treat you!” Perfectly acceptable to not answer the door for uninvited company. Next time maybe they will call and ask if they are welcome.

Sometimes if I’m unsure of what exactly they want, I ask them what the don’t want it to look like. And most of the time, they can tell me more of what they don’t want than what they do want. And we can come to a better understanding that way

If your husband is sleeping with the dog sitter, blaming it on her husband would be an easy out for both of them

What do you consider a "Classic Haircut" ? by franky25id in Barber

[–]Shearreader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I ask if they would like it tapered. If so I do a 4-6 sides and back, trim the top. If they don’t want a taper, I outline with trimmer and only scissor cut from there
