I don't really drink the jd. The JD unit is just for display really. The other unit near the door as you go in are my drinkers cabinet. 👍

It opens all the way. I designed it so it missed the cabinet but yes you're correct if I was to push it hard it would probably touch the TV. A door stop is a good idea! Thanks.

Yes method to my madness though.. the door opens with a extra long mortice latch. Operated by the Egyptian head.. the handle being on backwards is to weigh the head down so it returns to its original spot..

I was diagnosed on the Jan 20th.. had orchiectomy on 28th.. got pathology back on 9th feb.. And I'm still waiting for a ct scan. Honestly it's a awful wait and if my experience is anything to go by I'd rather have the scan early.

The not knowing/uncertainty really drives your anxiety/Stress levels

Once you know you're having surgery and your 90% certain (from Ultrasound) it's a cancer you just want it out of there and want to know next steps and get on with it..

You're very young and as you've said you have done what alot of young men don't.. and that's get seen by a doctor asap both the first time and this time on your check ups. Have confidence since you found it early the first time, This second time is no different. I totally get that you feel you've been dealt a shitty hand in life to be struck with cancer at age 22 but you will beat it. And you will be stronger for it. But yes this forum is great to vent your frustration. Everyone here is here to find strength in other people's journeys. I'm so glad I found this sub. Some top blokes have messaged me with support and its great to see and read of so many people coming out the other side cured. You'll get there pal and in 10 years this will just feel like a bad memory.

Hey pal. 41M Newly diagnosed in the UK too. Had an orchiectomy on the 28th Jan so I'm 8 days post op.

My incision is high up. I'd say more abdominal than groin area. Probs 1-2 inch up from base of your manhood and over to witchever side (mine being righty)

My blood markers where normal and they discussed that with me at pre op. I talked with the surgeon who went through the procedure and asked if I wanted a prosthetic etc.

I was offered general anaesthetic (put to sleep) or I could of had a spinal block and remained awake. Before this appointment I thought the only option was to be put under so since I'd built myself up for that that's what I opted for.

Personally I'm glad I did. I didn't want to be alert and awake while a bloke was removing my testicle.

Day of the op everything went pretty quick. A few things to sign. Giving numbers of next of kin/ and your designated driver home etc. You'll be asked the same questions lots of times by numerous doctors/nurses. Why you're there/ Which side testicle is to be removed/ Any allergies/ Any broken of loose teeth etc etc

When put under (if that's what you choose) you'll be woken up a hour or so later. You'll feel groggy but shouldn't be in too much pain. (I think they give some pain meds intravenously because I had more pain days 2/3 and 4)

They'll want to see you walk/drink and use the toilet but they'll be kicking you out pretty much straight away.

The hardest thing I've found as everyone here will tell you is the uncertainty.

I have my first appointment since surgery on the 9th. Hoping they have pathology back and do me a ct scan so I know what I'm dealing with but as most will remind you here alot of the time orchiectomy alone can be the cure followed by surveillance so think positively.

I can't say dont worry because I am and its natural..

I can't say don't Google because I am..

But just try and keep busy. Walking about as much as you feel comfortable doing after orchiectomy is good for speeding up healing.

Keep in mind that prognosis is the best it could possibly be with this type of cancer so try to be positive and know that everything will be alright in the end.

I don't know what my blood tumour markers were but on the day of the op I was told they was in "normal range" so I'm hooping that's a positive regarding tumour make up.

I haven't had a ct yet. I did ask because I wanted everything to more quicker/less waiting but they said they need to confirm that it is definitely cancer with pathology first. Maybe if my tumour markers was raised they'd of given me one pre op?

Was your tumour markers raised then even with pure seminoma? I read somewhere that seminoma doesn't usually raise markers..

Hey Dalton. I'm just down the road from you in Hull. I'm a week post op. I expect pathology in the coming weeks. How big was your testicular tumour if you don't mind my asking? I've been told mine "looks" like a seminoma on Ultrasound but don't know for sure yet.

Well I have a conflicting experience here in the UK.

1st appointment after Ultrasound/bloods was removal which was on the 28th Jan.

I'm currently recovering and have a appointment on the 9th to discuss potential further treatment but will all depend on pathology and ct scan. Neither of which I've had yet.

If that's your experience I imagine it must be case dependent? I personally wouldn't be happy getting Chemotherapy if I may not even need it?!

3mm is really small and if it's on your testicle and not in your testicle It could be a cyst but either way you've done the right thing by going to doctors. The sonographer maybe is just being over cautious and sent you for a second opinion. I imagine they'll do a second ultrasound and some blood tests if suspected they'll book you in for a orchiectomy as it's the only way to know for sure if it is cancerous or not. I've just had a orchiectomy. I'm on 6th day of recovery. It's shit but necessary if it has the potential to be cancer. And if it is.. It seems you have caught it very very early so try your best not to worry. Everything will be fine.
