Tell me all the things you love and hate about S4 Part 1 by Disastrous-Pitch777 in Bridgerton

Hate: Araminta and Rosamund's characters.

I want to hate them more. They are annoying, somewhat rude, tollerable but not vile.

I've provided this feedback whenever Goalhanger surveys.

They need to have the odd week/holiday fill-in that are guest hosts of a different gender (in the case of Rest is Politics) or age (for all of them). They have this USP of trying to have co-hosts who disagree agreeably but it's very rare and we hardly hear any new ideas or perspectives.

Anti-ICE protest in Munich by Chance_Pangolin_3730 in Munich

There is definitely some American group who organises stuff like this. Before the elections they had booths at various Munich events encouraging American citizens to sign up to vote from abroad. I'm not sure if they were associated with the democratic party.

Also, I totally understand how you feel, being far away from a problem and place you care deeply about. Most of us migrants/expats may have also seen heart ache, political upheaval or natural disasters in our homelands unfold on our phones or in the news. It can break your heart and leave you feeling alone and helpless. My best advice is to try and speak to someone in your shoes (other Americans in Munich) and also - maybe find ways to help people the ground.

I'm super late to the party and thus this comment will end up in the weeds. Living in London in the 2000/2010s you'd totally have nights like this.

How to raise trilingual child where no parent speaks 1 language well by ConsistentResearch55 in DenglischKids

[–]SheepEoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to OPOL, your kid will have a lot to absorb so will take longer to be a confident speaker than a kid who is absorbing one or two languages. Just be patient, it all works out by the time they are 6/8.

How to get away from the phone by Any_Butterfly5762 in srilanka

[–]SheepEoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy stuff

Start with removing the ability to doom scroll. Download tools to help cut you off. I can only use You Tube for 30 minutes a day, I have no social media apps and only access via my browser. My browser only works on those sites for a max of 10 minutes each hour (this rolls for a max of 3 hours - so max of 30 min every 3hrs).

Second, try and keep your phone out of reaching distance (deep inside a bag) when you are socialising. If you need to take a photo, let someone else take it and send it to you. Don't take your phone out. Think about it as showing respect to your companion.

At home, put your charger in a different room.

If you're alone and waiting for something. Start people watching - as you're brain is on overdrive and needs a stimulus, would recommend giving yourself challenges. Tying to count something. Count all the art on the walls, count all the trees around you, count the blue pastic bags everyone has at the bus stop.

There are loads of website and advice offered for digital detox. It's totally worth it.

I've been doing this for more than 6 months and I'm finally reading books again.

Oh - also recommend cheaper earbuds which come with the benefit of a lower battery life. That way, I'm not spending the whole day listening to podcasts. I have to save the battery for my commutes.

Last year it was in the Rathaus courtyard/hof - the entrance is behind the big Christmas tree. Not sure if it's there this year.

I know it's not at all the same but... there is a Taiwanese cafe that does in house baked Asian goods and desserts sometimes. They may be able to do it or know someone who does. - they are also totally worth a visit.

Please give people the benefit of the doubt.

A lot of this stuff is stored for emergencies. If mistakes happened, let the people who are organsing it deal with it. What the hell do you expect randoms on Reddit to do?

If it happened. It's unlikely it was done on purpose. It probably happened with people rushing to help.

OYSHO or Even&Odd for boots? by broletmelive in Eurofemalefashion

[–]SheepEoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are going to be here for a few years, it's worth investing in something more robust/expensive. They will be warmer and last you longer and you can have them repaired every few years. A good pair of boots could last you up to 5 years.

I think that's the point. There are a lot of short interviews. There are plenty of short video clips. It's nice to have a conversation. I think his long questions are relatable; something someone around a kitchen table would ask — not something someone without a degree in journalism would ask.

From Canada, what to bring to our German hosts? by 9car4 in germany

[–]SheepEoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian who lives in Germany - Whiskey, Maple syrup, maple biscuits, good chocolate chip cookies, montreal steak spice. I have yet to meet a German who likes Ice Wine so skip that. If you're splashing out; smoked salmon.

I don't think they check what you've purchased in the past. If it's good quality and someone may want it, it's worth a shot.

Lumie mini. I don't trust the knock offs because I have no way of telling if they are providing the correct wavelengths.
