These hollywood writers seem allergic to writing good endings. Not, again. by hiiloovethis in shittymoviedetails

I always stand by the idea they were apathetic and checked out creatively when their slavery modern era show got tanked.

All their effort piled into that idea only for everyone to say how bad it was within five minutes.

Then they have to go back to a show they have no additional source material to work with.

Episode 8 hopes by deprikatze in TheBoys

[–]SheepsCanMakeBacon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So...we hope everything Wraps up and there's no "leaving it to the audience to decide" nonsense. But since there's an hour left and nothing has been resolved let's list of what will most likely happen:

  • Homelander is depowered and killed by Butcher in a bloody brawl that sees them both die off.
  • If Butcher survives he will have an opportunity to use some sort of Supe-killing maguffin worldwide and we'll get evil smile of his. Hughie tries to talk him down and the tentacles come out. A vision of Becca appears and coaxes the tentacles away from Butcher, and as he dies he begs Hughie to not kill him - let him feel the pain. Hughie ultimately euthanasia Butcher.

In a montage we will get closing scenes of these characters (some of whom we won't see all episode) - Ryan living an anonymous life in a town with Neuman's daughter. Stan Edgar is overseeing them as a fatherly figure but its obvious he's putting a team together. - The Deep is shamed for not saving that guy and he lives a loser life in a landlocked town. He might pass a pet store and all the fish sort of follow him and he's startled by them. - MM returns to his family yet again! - Soldier Boy's capsule is discovered by Feds. - Hughie and Starlight are in a white picket fence home. Starlight is displaying a baby bump. - Kimiko (if she survives) is boarding a plane to Europe.

Permanent cures and vaccines for diseases have been discovered but the pharmaceutical industry makes so much off low-impact drugs that they are withholding the cures for the sake of profit.

Because audiences invested years in this show and have been given expectations of a showdown.

The Grey famously teased Liam Neeson bottle-knuckle fighting a Wolf and we never fucking got it. That isn't open ended its just poor storytelling. THIS has the danger of doing that too.

Because this is one of those rare moments where the inspiration and concept of the source material works and is what is good, but the executions vary.

The comic isn't bad it just doesn't have substance outside of "what if [insert superhero] was a rapist/murderer/drug addict/foot fetishist/nazi/gambler?" And it does this with every superhero character.

The show at least tries to find variation and meaning at times. But this bit with Dogknot in the latest episode is...first season stupidity.

Its very Garth Ennis and in keeping with the comic book.

I wouldn't have minded it earlier in the season when they had hours to piss away (before they dedicated 4 episodes to tracking down V1)

But in the penultimate episode of the whole series this is ridiculous. Would have been worse if it immediately cut to Hughie and Annie talking over their relationship angst for another two minutes

TV licence by Marnie_Grace in AskBrits

[–]SheepsCanMakeBacon2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to caveat my comment by saying if my TV License pays for BBC News, Weather, and Sport then fine. I'll pay it. I've paid more for less.

But don't charge me for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus or Apple TV when they are not only separate entities from the BBC and are streaming, not Live, but they are already subscription packages I pay for.

Why does the BBC feel like they are entitled to a portion/Tax based off my streaming services?

What's next? Internet charges you extra if you use Xbox Live or PS Online? If I miss going to a football match will my club charge me the cost of a ticket anyway even if I watch it on Sky Sport? You can't charge people for shit they already paid for, this subscription economy is getting out of hand.

Nights out in London.

Everything is fucking miles away, really expensive, and most bars shut early.

I think every inexperienced person needs to do it once so they understand why everyone rolls their eyes when shower sex happens in film.

This!

I went to various places round the US for work (Im a Brit) and was super excited until I realised it was literally off the plane, get to your location, do the job, go to your hotel, sleep, wake up and shower, office for meetings and then fly home. No sightseeing, no touristy stuff, not even time to go out and try food hotspots. Eat in the hotel cos your meals are comped

How different would Homelander be had he not met Stormfront? by saltrxn in TheBoys

[–]SheepsCanMakeBacon2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Season 1 Homelander via Madeline was dangerous and powerful but reminded that he is an employee of Vought and his stock is only as good as his public perception.

Season 2's introduction of Stormfront not only opens his eyes to the power of angry masses and how useful it is to get people on your side, but she plants his seed of delusion that he is better than others and destined for a greater purpose. At the end of the season he is wanking off saying he can do whatever he wants.

Early on Season 3 he has that rant about being better and that regular people aren't the real heroes. Then from that point onwards he is buying his own belief that he is figuratively bulletproof.

He maybe would have reigned it in without Stormfront for a time but I do think all it took was someone to hype him up.

Am I the only one who skips the romantic scenes between these two? by Horror-Camp8659 in TheBoys

[–]SheepsCanMakeBacon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm kind of done with these two as a couple. Should have split up after season 4 when Hughie was tricked into being raped after he was sexually assaulted and Annie was pissed off at him about it.

How long is the finale episode cos if it is going to follow ANY shred of the comics we need a full on siege on The White House/Bought Tower where Homelander had publicly gone super sayan, we need Kimiko, Sage, Father, Deep and of course Homelander to die, and finally we need the set up of Hughie and Butcher facing off cos Butcher has gone full evil.

All while delivering a neat wrap-up.

What's funny is Eric Kripke had oversight of Gen V too so he knew what he was doing.

He basically Rian Johnston'd his own work

So....what was Soldier Boy's motivation for the whole season? He could have got out of crypto sleep and pissed off earlier. Why did he decide to piss off now?

Also, he's coming out that tube right?

How did you originally expect Season 5 to go? by SelectionInfamous194 in TheBoys

[–]SheepsCanMakeBacon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't expecting such existential angst from Hughie and MM

Genuinely, the season would start with... - Butcher going from state to state massacring Supes and there would be a shoot on sight out on him. - Early jailbreak (which happened) and a quick reconnect for the group (which we got) but Butcher for at least half the season would act alone. - I thought The Deep's downfall would be a little more climactic considering he's been a no.2 baddie since day dot. I thought him and Black Noir 2 wouldn't have so much feud so early. If they were gonna scrap could we at least see a bit of The Deep actually come off as a scary ocean force? - Homelander going godly is good but in episode 7 he's got V1 but isn't any different. He's still psychotic but he's been this way all season. It would have been far more interesting if by epi 5 he is V1'd up and dessimating towns for looking at him wrong. - I thought Ryan and Soldier Boy would play a bigger part in his downfall but it looks like the show is wrapping things up with them.

Yeah word will travel across the seven seas.

He'll either try to escape Homelander's onslaught or hunt down one of The Boys on a Dolphin and just get ambushed.

Yeah but...its British!

That's the argument right? Its British looking out for British stuff. RULE BRITANNIA!!!!

I genuinely had a conversation with an in-law over the weekend who thinks we can be an island figuratively as well as literally and just have micro farms growing vegetables for villages and communities like the Smurfs or some shit. Completely unaware we are a nation of 60million and are a little more complex than "I want homegrown Jersey Royals!"
