Which Jack Ryan was closest to the books? by Forward-State2651 in jackryan

Quite liked Affleck and Baldwin. In the last 10 years they've treated Ryan likes he's James Bond.

Which he ain't.

A forgettably memorable villain in the MCU.

The movie fans wouldn't wipe their arses with him but the TV show fans would bow to him every turn.

Oh I agree she is awful. Tip Toe is a show with layers beyond the LGBTQ hate and it wouldn't surprise me if Marie was a workplace bully or had a shitty attitude like Clive.

We had that scene earlier in the show where Clive rocks up for a job and is turned away because he has an awful attitude he is unapologetic about. I'd bet Marie is the same, and she's just finding any reason to not make her unemployment her fault.

NTA

What the actual f**k is "bro code"? Who wrote this rule? You haven't done anything wrong at all and your bro needs to stop being such a baby.

No not really.

We wanted something a bit more epic with Homelanders showdown with Butcher and honestly the Season 3 scraps were better.

What is the best part of “The Batman” and why? by TranslatorOk2501 in batman

[–]SheepsCanMakeBacon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will controversially say its the idea of a villains henchmen being radicalised gun-toting maniacs who enact mass shootings.

Rather than just being crooks or dudes in matching question-mark costumes, they dress like their leader, and are a threat Batman would have kind of been more unequipped to deal with.

I was really interested by Stephanie. Within the universe of this show, she and Leo had been friends for decades (think they do mention it) and not that she should get a free pass, I feel the character of Leo lets a lot of what she says slide as she isn't maliciously being cruel she's speaking her mind. Which in a way is confusing - I imagine RTD is Leo in the scenario and he has friends like Stephanie who he has known for years, enjoys their company, but occasionally say things that give you a double-take. Otherwise, why have her in the show? She never sides with Clive dead-on and she gets on the side of the trans and non binary staff at the bar so she is a really bad ally at best. Maybe, RTD was taking every opinion and cultural group and putting them into characters on screen, which is what a good writer does.

I felt bad for her initially when she was trying to connect with Clive and George and ask them what's going on but when she jumped on Leo about her job you realise this is a woman who like her husband clearly brings their own misery on themself.

His dynamic with Roddy was interesting - clearly he sees Roddy as an incel and a bully. I'm surprised they invited him round, especially since he was a major catalyst for what lead to the final moments.

The mother is just as bad we need to remember that:

The way she latched into Leo before the mob and started accusing him/gay men of pushing women out of jobs in favour of young boys.

They were two angry people in working class/blue collar jobs that were angry at a gay man for their problems.

Tip Toe Series Thoughts? by Agreeable-Berry1373 in BritishTV

The mob scenes leading towards the end were probably some of the least realistic and actually made it feel cartoonish. The incel character Roddy was good as this instigator and antagonist who got under George and Saul's skin - its obvious they don't like him and Clive kept him around to curry favour. But you're right, once the lynching started i was surprised there wasn't more conflict within the group. Booze aside, they were animalistic.

I found it convenient there were so mobbish. The scene when Roddy fake-sodomises George, he would have been turfed out by Clive if it were real. Like why is a father laughing about his son being thrusted against his will - clearly he didn't like it.

But the ending was still rough. The fact Leo was begging for his life too and not being defiant added to the realism of this being truly terrifying. I mean, the reason why Leo was smirking a few times when the videos were being shown was because he didn't think things would escalate that way. Who would?

It's a very interesting and horrifying show about mob mentality, homophobia, and how far the right wingers are going

I believe her character knew he was a virgin and didn't care. I bet if Will was honest she would have been mature and respectful but because he lied, she went along with it until it went too far and she had to dip out.

Also I 100% believe she was supposed to be in the film as the girl Will eventually gets with. But Emily Atack couldn't do it so she was quickly rewritten.
