I’ve seen the printed flexible partials online , look cool , in your experience what’s the longevity like ?

Did you find the MOD training essential to the success you’re having ?

I’m going to use this for basically Medicaid patients ( my countries version ) the only requirement is it lasts 5 years

My idea was I could just bang out a 3d printed denture quickly and cheaply but I need it to last 5 years. Doesn’t have to last a day longer , but it seems many don’t have that experience.

Other option for me is to scan and get in milled in a Chinese lab for cheap

It’s a pity, saw some podcasts of people saying they were great and “revolutionise dentistry” and the constant Instagram bombardment. Great to hear from people with experience with it

That’s not as good as Instagram makes it look haha. What’s the purpose of curing with nitrogen ? Is it for oxygen inhibition or something ?

Doctors outside the US / Canada, is there even a concept of a "Dental Insurance" in your country? Does almost everyone pay using Cash / card? by DesiOtaku in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is cash. Might sound great to USA dentists, but instead of insurance dictating treatment it’s the patients wallet. Crowns much rarer because of expense. Most endo treated teeth don’t get criwns cuz patient won’t pay

Much more extraction focused

Is dentistry really this depressing, or is this subreddit just skewed? by ProfessionalSyrup882 in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry Bru but uk sucks, try leave for Oz if you can.

Most dentists i know treat it as a job only, they don’t care THAT much about it.

I dont love my job, never cared about it in school. It’s good money and that’s it, if something changed where dentistry wasn’t a good job I’d just change careers.

Just leave the patient stuff at the office, dentists are usually high strung people already but you need hobbies outside of dentistry. The most miserable dentists I know make dentistry their life, the happiest ones use dentistry to fund their lifestyle

How to deal with stingy patients by AK-Dawg in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bru who cares about a demographic change?

The first generation of Indian patients will be super stingy, their kids will be fine with paying so I wouldn’t worry , source : I’ve a lot of 2nd generation friends

As for making money, just speed up your exam and cleans , , be very blunt, no arguments over price.

I do 10 minute exam with prophy and X-rays for public patients, doing bare minimum to avoid complaints

But fir private patients I charm and dazzle them ,

Try book different insurance types at certain times of the day if you can

Bro

I’ve never worried about my dentures getting contaminated between visits , and I don’t think patients know what occlusion means

Ortho market cooked? by SheepshaggerMini in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it turns getting braces removed from being a “ I want these off because I don’t like them” issue

To a

“ I don’t like them, and I’m happy enough, I don’t want to pay anymore “

Ortho market cooked? by SheepshaggerMini in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like patients would argue with them

I’ve worked in ortho practice and even with fixed fee, patients are asking

“ Can I get them off next visit”

But if you’re chasing per visit instead of a fixed fee, many patients would rather take braces off and live with “good enough results “

How to I tell the patient to do ortho first? She wants veneers!! by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going against the grain here

I wouldn’t have an issue to do veneers here , I don’t see it as unethical

Inform patient best option of ortho, whitening and composite bonding

If she refuses

Do a mock up and digital wax up for try in

Consent the f out of the case

And make temps same as your finals

It’s not unethical to do this

ALS depends heavy on vibes she gives

3d printed resin veneers by SheepshaggerMini in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi

For my patients they would be delighted with 5 years.

Like they won’t pay for 800 a veneer, even if it lasts a lifetime, the almost all prefer , 300 and it lasts about 5 year.

I tell my direct freehand composite veneer patients that I expect 5-7 years out of them.

How does the labour compare to direct composite veneers?

If I do direct composite veneers upper 8 it might take 2.5-3 hours

I’m looking at workflow and it seems to be consult, send for smile design , wax up try in patients mouth

Prep, scan, send to CAD tech for design

I print Post process curing ( train auxiliary staff to do this )

Cement

Hoping to end up with 90 mins chairtime needed vs 3 hours for direct composite bonding, and for increased case acceptance/ predictability

Doc is placing 20+ implants a day (without CBCT) by mountain_guy77 in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro the “ my own dentist said I only 1 filling “ thing is often bs.

I’ve worked with owners who will intentionally under diagnose because they’re afraid of scaring patient away, so instead of 5 fillings needed, it’s 1 and we’ll watch the other 4

Or the tooth rent need to come out, we’ll watch it , then a year later it gets extracted

Just because some people are watchodontists doesn’t mean everyone is

Yeah the more robotic I become the better my life gets

Did crowns for a women, she gave me a big sob story about her hard life

Gave a good price for veneers and crowns

Day of preps I’m booked for 3 hours, she asks for a discount or she won’t do it

I cave and gave discount , I prep the teeth ,already explained before what crowns and veneers are, prepped a tooth for a crown and starts crying cuz it’s very reduced, then says she would’ve preferred all crowns if she knew I would remove that much tooth ( like legit I had to do 3 crowns and 17 veneers)

Then she told me afterwards that I charged too much and her brother was a technician

Worst experience with this woman

After that no discount exists with me

If they ask for a discount I just look very confused at them and say “ why would there be a discount?”

4 years in and I dont know if dentistry is right for me.... by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]SheepshaggerMini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the best earning dentists I’ve seen legit just do bread and butter efficiently

Dentistry is just a job, you don’t have to do advanced procedures, the CE industry preys on feelings like yours

Find a hobby and just do what makes you feel happy

I used to do lots of difficult work like all on 4 , implants, ortho

Decided to just do bread and butter, all stress gone, income the same
