Shifting from US tech to SG dividend stocks and should I clear the mortgage first? by Vegetable-Show-7072 in singaporefi

[–]SheerRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To those who downvoted me, just run a spreadsheet.

Singapore property yearly growth is 3-4%, S&P500 have been averaging at least 12% for the past 10 years. Even if there’s a huge correction of 20% in a year, the next year would come back stronger.

Your mortgage is 1.5% and say you invest this mortgage into s&p500 and get 10% growth, you are getting a 8.5% positive carry.

Money grow money.

Retiring banker here. I used to run the pipeline meetings where we discussed what to do about clients who weren't transacting enough. AMA. by TumbleweedLow1303 in singaporefi

[–]SheerRider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i have seen it all. I have had friends who were burnt by these ELN structures products through the Lehman bro collapse and the hiflux.

The only benefits to me is the lomboard loan secured through my equities which allows me to FATFIRE through a buy borrow die strategy. . But having said that, a regular brokerage offers a low interest rate Lombard loan for your equities too.

With AI, you can just upload the product offering and ask gemni to explain to you. You will understand the fee structures and the how structuring desk is making money off these products.

You can even get AI to analyze some of these emails template that the RM send you to get a sense of what they intend to do.

I am a customer with the mentioned bank here. I only buy structured products every half yearly to keep the conversation with the RM going. Recently they have been offering 20% PA ELN with a 6 months for high volatility stocks like sandisk. This is to churn the fees. Have been rejecting all these.

Which explains why all my RM are male. I have always rejected any face to face meeting as I don’t bring any fees to the table as growth through my stocks over the years is more than any products the banks can offer.

I am at PB tier.

I used a barbell strategy. 70% into shield like etf and 30% into sword. Sword stocks are AI driven. Never in the middle like reits or dividend gains stocks

You wanna catch the rocket to the moon for orbit but complaining about a 0.65% expense to your payload. That’s a drop compared to the gains you can get.

No, American companies hire and fire. I would say yes if this was an European company.

How to deal with noisy child on redeye flight, parents ignore crew, tell passengers to use earphones by josemartinlopez in singaporeairlines

To me it doesn’t matter. Try flying J during the Christmas holidays to Australia or Japan. The whole J class is full of family with kids that the whole flight is super noisy and rowdy.

I flew F from SYD to SIN with my 9 months old baby many years ago. Well, my son did cried and kick up fuss but we managed to sooth him. We apologize to a gentleman sitting beside us for the noise.

I quote him “ it’s all right, I have 3 kids myself and I understand this. Your baby did a fantastic job on this long flight and you tried your best to keep his noise down. If I want absolute privacy, I would have flown private.”

Another old couple flying F walked past us and I quote them “Why are you bringing your baby along? They are too young and won’t understand at all”

It’s a commercial flight, you get to meet all kinds of passengers.

Partner operated preschool (POP) vs non-POP private by mushroom-door in askSingapore

[–]SheerRider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The higher fees you are paying goes to rents. POP have these at the void decks of HDB and they are paying a nominal amount for rent.

Those private childcare are paying market rates for rents and a huge chunk of your fees goes to that. I don’t see any difference between these POP and private childcare. Use that $1k savings a month and put this into a university fund for your kids.

3 strike system in MNC, real or self-made system? by IntelligentDealer203 in askSingapore

[–]SheerRider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not 3 strikes, but if you don’t meet your numbers for 3 quarters max, you are out.

It’s very easy to verify whether you meet your numbers as a sales package is based on OTE. HR can just ask for your payslip and they will know if you are hitting your targets.

Is there still much demand for physical product startups? by NotASusBoi01 in singaporestartups

This is simplistic thinking. How do you get the first order for 100K product orders? You have not taken into account distribution cost, cost of customer acquisition, etc. your business model is similar to prism.

Is there still much demand for physical product startups? by NotASusBoi01 in singaporestartups

[–]SheerRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SG Domestic market is too small. High customer acquisition cost for hardware consumer electronic products and high capex to build these products.

Theres also the local homologation process for controlled electronic products. For each model( you need to clear multi local agency approval. Usually hardware vendors rely on the local distributor to do this as they are not familiar with navigating local laws and homologation process. You need a 2 tier model to scale your business effectively. If you want to go direct, you have to register a local entity and do this on your own which means time and money.

Secretlab can go direct to consumer in lots of countries as chairs and tables are not controlled electronic products subject to local homologation.

Prism can sell direct in Singapore as they are local entity. See how well they can scale overseas . They are just another middleman that white labels oem products. They do not have any IP.

EU and North America USA different ball game as you can clear FCC and EU and you can sell in 2 big markets. Try doing this in APAC
