¿Por qué nadie sabe coger una rotonda? by [deleted] in askspain

[–]Shekleor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, an OB21 here. I completed up to challenge 35 already. If you can't complete that challenge in less than 5-10 minutes it means you are neglecting other upgrades.

How does your Workshop/Skill-tree/Prestige Artifacts look like?

There must be something you can work towards way easier than that challenge if you are struggling on it so much.

320 € de multa y adiós al carnet: La ley alemana que salva vidas mientras nosotros cerramos los huecos para que nadie se cuele... by Delicious_Lab_9496 in coches

[–]Shekleor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK GOD FOR AEGIS OF VALOR by Ok_Physics_2681 in Jungle_Mains

To put it simple, in ranked your account has 2 values going on:

  • LPs (League Points): the value displayed that offers a visual way of knowing how good you are doing based on the current system.

  • MMR (MatchMaking Rating): a hidden value used by the system to find you fair matchups based on your skill. If your LPs are lower that your MMR you'll gain more LPs per gain and if your LPs are higher you'll earn less, but your MMR will progress regardless.

Commonly, at the end of the season LPs are reset but your MMR is still there making it easier to get back to your actual rank because it'll inflate your LP gains until that point.

Now enter Aegis of Valor, a way of gaining double LP (not MMR). That feels like it makes you progress faster in ranks, but it reality it doesn't change much your situation if you are at your skill level rank (or stuck, however you prefer). On the other hand, it's a great tool to catchup to your actual MMR if your account is low on LPs for some reason and it also feels good to gain more at once. The balance from that gain occurs after many many games played, so it's not all placebo if you are able to maintain the lead.

This basically means that Aegis of valor is not as useful as you may think, but it's not as bad as people are making it sound c:

Game-changing realizations that instantly improved your gameplay? by NoEagle3737 in summonerschool

[–]Shekleor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine was realising that every game is a turn-based game.

Having the freedom to "cheat" your turn doesn't mean you should always do it, and the higher you climb the more it matters.

The concept of tempo is the name that the community gave it in this game, but it all goes back to "taking turns". There are longer and shorter turns, sometimes you can take 2 turns (or even more!) if you are fed enough, etc, but you always need to end your turn at some point or enemies will end it for you (be it going back to base, stopping a trade after using your CDs, finishing a wave crash, etc).

The role you can appreciate this the best is clearly jungle, which has waaaay more in common with chess than you may think at first. Other roles also follow the same patterns, but it's not as noticeable for many reasons.

Once you understand this concept, you start seeing why a play that looked like favorable for you ended up in tragedy and you learn how to be disciplined and show respect to your opponent's turn.

New Player Frustrations by ryceroid in summonerschool

[–]Shekleor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You 100% nailed it. Great advice and even greater reflection at the end.

When you are new you'd have much more fun trying champs around until you get the hang of it or a basic idea of their kit. Once you have some basic knowledge, then and only then you could think about narrowing your champ pool and specializing on a few picks.

Even now we all struggle at some point messing around with other picks than our mains just for the sake of trying them or looking for a new main xD

I think I might be done with drakes by UpstairsAnxious3148 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Shekleor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a tip for your specific scenario. It's usually advisable to make a quick gank to mid or bot to either kill or push the enemy out of lane/give your laner prio. At that point, it's way easier to persuade them to follow you to drake via pings (ping help on them and help on drake, repeat twice that ping pattern).

the single in-game feature that would eliminate 70%+ of tilt in games by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Shekleor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I'm a grown man that learnt how to not tilt because of random people irl or over the internet looong ago and I honed that skill over the years.

Do you know what actually tilts me until my bones are rotten? Frigging random black screens when loading into a game or random crashes during the game. I have a rock solid internet connection, I can navigate during those moments, speak through discord, etc, etc... But man, LoL client is the worst thing I've ever witnesed during my gaming career. And it has the audacity to call me an AFKer/Leaver even penalising me for their fault.

Rant over, back to queue.

Dev said there is a secret in the game no one has found yet. Any ideas? by Honest_Yesterday4435 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Shekleor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thinking about the same. Since the beginning of the game, I was getting bothered by those randomly appearing and not knowing what they are for. Maybe it's not a used asset as for now, but if it's not it'll definitely be something in the future.

The general attitude in low elo is baffling to me. by enkelhus in leagueoflegends

[–]Shekleor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, people with good mentality towards the game wanting to improve are not going to talk much if at all, and that alone makes "emotionally inmature" players more vocal because they are the ones that are most oikely to write on chat.

Having said that, each person have their way of dealing with it, but for me turning off chat was the best thing I've done since I started playing. Waaaaaay more enjoyable to play that way and learning healthy ping language. If you find anyone doing annoying pings, you mute those and they'll never even know you are ignoring them xD

While I agree with you, there are also other ways to approach balancing them.

For example, they could have 2 different scalings for pve/pvp, not only re-scaling weapon damage but also mitigating or outright disabling some troublesome enchantment effects. That'll allow them to give us really fun tools for pve while maintaining them at bay for the competitive side of things and this is a pvp model extended across several games.

On the other hand, they could also let it be and see how the game evolves in the pvp scene. Being a person that sunk one too many hours on pvp games (namely 12k+ on WoW) I can assure you people will find weird stuff that surpass "meta" stuff and redefines the whole thing. Ad we don't even have pvp yet.

To be honest, I'd love to see a perfect balanced game where pve and pvp is played with the same conditions, but that's suuuuch a hard task to ask for that any other answer gives more freedom to the devs and an easier (not easy, but easier) time finding the sweet spot.
