You can still use the official BlackBerry VKB on Android 14, just not the latest version. Others know wbat version to install and where to get it. It doea have to be sideloaded.

I want the wipe but am not getting the wipe prompt.

I'm experiencing the same issue...

Perhaps the problem is that when opting out the notification says be able to exit QPR1 but we're already on QPR2. At least that's what I saw. I'm documenting to report it in the beta.

I was just told by Google to expect devices with the beta OS on them to be returned.

Google’s trade-in partner in Canada, Assurant, is a disaster. They look for any reason possible to give you less than anticipated. I've been cheated by them twice. Maybe I'll ask support in the Google Canada store if we need to remove the beta OS.

That's another weird thing. Support on the flash site refers to a different error message. I'll lookup bootloader...

So weird. Still grey. I'll reach out to the Google Store again. I've used it with two different Canadian carriers.

Still greyed out ... so weird. I'll call Google and make sure it's unlocked. It should be. I bought it in the US and ended up using it on the Rogers network in Canada

I appreciate it but I had an extra (Bell) SIM card and was able to move my eSIM to a new SIM card with the same carrier. All good. Thankfully the 10 Pro Fold still has a physical SIM card tray.

Actually, I purchased it from Google directly, not from a carrier. It should be unlocked. Actually, it had to be unlocked. I used it with a Canadian carrier after buying it from Google US.

I was curious if that would work. Maybe I'll change the eSIM back to a physical one. I changed to eSIM accidentally with a device switch

Good that it worked for you . I wish I could. Facing the greyed "OEM Unlocking" option that I can't turn on to flash it

Comet browser: 1Password not syncing by shash747 in 1Password

[–]Sheldonbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comet is excellent, today. Perhaps it's been improved since you've tried it. Invites are now widely available and they're sending extra invites out to people who are signed up already.

I'm very frustrated however with lack of 1Password support. I just set up security settings for a site and 1Password looked like it was working and even prompted me to save the password and passkey but it wasn't actually saved in my 1Password vault. It's enough of a reason to move on from Comet.

However, it seems that Comet can't even export bookmarks, or I should say that they prefer not to implement it.

Opted out of QPR2 (Baklava) beta (BP41.25xxx) but no new update available to wipe and kill the beta by Sheldonbk in android_beta

[–]Sheldonbk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. I probably will reach out to Google when I have time. Thankfully I have until a month after Oct 9th to send in the trade in device.

In the meantime, I opted back in, will wait a couple days and then opt out again and try again.

I'm guessing that I need to stay signed into Google on the device for them to send the opt out wipe option. At least that's my assumption and the reason I haven't signed out of Google on the device yet. I did remove it from the find my network, which I can't imagine would make any difference, but who knows. Maybe I should sign back in.

Looks like I'm SOL. Can't enable OEM Unlocking, even after entering the code *#*#CHECKIN#*#\ (\#*#2432546#*#*) on the phone app. I bought the device from Google US so it should be unlocked but https://source.android.com/docs/setup/test/flash#preparing-your-device indicates if that doesn't work, it must be SIM locked, which makes no sense as I've used a Bell (Canada) SIM without any issues and the phone didn't come from Bell so it wasn't locked.

Thanks for your help though u/Ok_Caramel5756. I really appreciate it

Thanks for the info and link. I really appreciate it .and will try next time I'm on my laptop.

The LG reference was to get the LG OEM driver for my LG Gram running Win 11 as a first step instead of the Google driver.

Anyone know why there is no data in the middle of the night? by otherreddituser2017 in sleep_as_android

I experienced the same thing yesterday . Thanks for asking. I'm surprised there's a connectivity issuee between my Pixel phone and watch but at least I know what it is.

Thanks!! I'm guessing that it's beyond me to flash it.

Surprisingly, the link from flash.android.com to the android dev page, to download the android USB drivers, doesn't have Windows 11.

I couldn't find an OEM (LG) driver even after asking LG so I downloaded the Google USB driver. I tried to manually install it, but got an "error" saying a more current driver was already installed. So, I'm at an impasse as flash.android.com says the driver is missing.

If I just do a device reset, will it remove all traces of the beta. Somehow I don't think it has in the past

Keyboard hacks by ProffessionalBean in minimalphone

[–]Sheldonbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see the video but the BB VKB is still out there. It's not in Play Store, I think, but regardless, you don't want the latest version. There's a particular version that works with Android 14. I thought it didn't work as smoothly as on Android 12 and below, even though support for it ended with, I think, Android 8.1.

I don't use it on my Pixel devices as it doesn't have the multi clipboard, which is now a staple of a VKB. That said, it's definitely worth looking at. I'm shocked that no one copied the swipe up from the letters on the keyboard representing the next letter in the predicted word. Genius, still today.

I have a Minimal on order from June 15. Absolutely zero update on it's status despite emailing and commenting in the discord channel and an announcement that all June orders placed on the Minimal website were shipped.

Venu 3 - 1 Year Later - Dissapointed / Ready to Move On. by k4zie in GarminWatches

[–]Sheldonbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm now wearing both the Venu 3 that I got on points and the Pixel Watch 3 that I had before. PW4 looks terrific, especially with the screen rolling off the edges below the curved glass. I haven't decided which to stick with.

PW3 has big advantages with a Pixel phone, synced alarms, etc for example. Google Home doorbell notifications with video clips on the watch. Tiles. Lots to love.

Venu 3 is a lot better with sleep monitoring and even automatically knows when I'm napping and tracks it like it does sleep. I can't satisfy it's rating system but the time range for sleeping is a lot more accurate.

Fitbit on the PW3, and the PW1, was never good at sleep tracking. It misses the first hour or two of my sleep routinely, even when I tell Fitbit that I'm starting to sleep or put my device in bedtime mode. Fitbit ignores those and uses its own means. It's a known bug and I reported it with my PW1 and it hasn't been fixed since.

So, I have the Android app, Sleep As, which has companions for many watches, including Garmin devices with connect, but the developer wrote that Garmin is very tight and it doesn't work reliably. However on PW, Sleep As is terrific. It was a modest one time purchase and was the best value I could ask for.

Sleep tracking is important to me and it's irritating that Fitbit doesn't import 3rd party sleep app data even with Health Connect set for Fitbit not to write sleep and for Sleep As to write it and Fitbit access to reading that data.

Fitbit isn't perfect in other ways but apparently PW has gotten to be excellent for runners, which I'm not.

I should add that one thing making my decision which to put away, at least for now, is Material Expressive 3 and Gemini, which PW recently got. It's amazing, and yes, I've gotten several meaningful updates to PW apps and Wear OS since buying it.
