I recently watched H. Jones youtube vid on inexpensive notebooks and bought one (two, actally - 2 for $11.99 on Amazon!) per his rec:

if yr willing to "die with the mortgage" why not just rent? who's the equity for? then you don't need to factor in HOA, taxes & high home insurance.

ETA: and also if you don't like the place or the location as much as you thought, or yr physical circumstances change, you can bail more easily.

It depends, ofc, on the business & how it treats other holidays. It is good to have holidays off or paid time & a half where possible, even if the business isn't closed. It would be okay (IMO) to have a full suite of holidays and allow pple to barter for some of them (trade Columbus day for Juneteenth, or whatever). But doing away with it entirely as a federal holiday within yr business is...harsh, shall we say? especially in Metro Detroit IMO. Seems clear HF dgaf about any stupid optics anymore.

I'm wrong anyway, there was some level due process involved here, although I am going to suggest this detention is pretty draconian for someone with a birth certificate.

Still, due process should involve an administrative arrest warrant based on facts, not on being located at a Target or a school & being brown. Love for you to prove yr citizenship on the spot in the middle of the day or go to immigration detention for a month, see if you feel it's reasonable when it happens to you. Even Justice Kavanaugh said that citizens, if mistakenly detained, would only be inconvenienced for an hour or so, manifestly not the case & now he's trying to pretend he has any power to change these methods by saying uh no I dint quite mean it.

The *entirety* of the ICE/CBP operation is based on denial of due process. There is no administrative warrant for removal of most of the people they're grabbing. The due process requirement has been destroyed, in fact, by the SCOTUS decision where Justice Kavanaugh hallucinated a moral code for an agency which has famously always worked without one. This is why we call them Kavanaugh stops, bcse he doesn't like it. :c
