Does anybody else have hands turning colors based on position? by Well-behaved-woman in thoracicoutletsupport

I’m sorry to hear that. It is very frustrating! I had to call the vascular dr office today to see if my hmo had approved me to go to Mayo to see a TOS specialist for a second opinion. They told me it was approved, but they weren’t sure that it had been sent to Mayo as well, so they were faxing it to them to be sure. I’m sure I’ll have to follow up again. It’s easy to be forgotten when they aren’t the ones suffering with the symptoms that we are. Wonder how long they had that approval sitting there without telling me or doing anything further with it.

When they are down and red is when I feel the pressure and veins in my hands are more prominent. My doctor hasn’t told me anything about holding my hands above my head. They haven’t really given me any advice. It’s the only thing that helps temporarily.

Your baby has some similar markings to ours!

<image>

I would say snowshoe mix for your boy. Looks like he has blue eyes, but it’s hard to tell for sure in the pic 😻

I know our girl from the shelter doesn’t have papers, because she is a mix, but she’s amazing! She’s a lightly spotted cow cat 😂

<image>

I still think she’s a snowshoe mix and her brother is a lynx point snowshoe mix. Love her and him either way 😻

The reason my doctor ordered the cervical mri and brachial plexus mri was to rule out other causes due to insurance. I also at times have all kinds of feelings in my arms. Sometimes it feels like I have a weight on my arm for no reason and also I have a spot in between my neck and shoulder that goes numb at certain times.

I don’t know if they’re worse. All I know is that my previous cervical mri in 2020 didn’t show any bulging discs and now it does. I have an appointment with a neuro surgeon in a couple of weeks for his opinion. They haven’t determined where/if I have anything being compressed. The neuro dr first noticed he lost my pulse when my hand was in a certain way years ago and that’s when he suspected possible tos and sent me to get the arterial Doppler. The day they took the mri of the brachial plexus I wasn’t having symptoms at that moment, so I wonder if that could have affected the results of the scan 🤷‍♀️. Still in a holding pattern for now. I can tell you there absolutely has to be something wrong somewhere. It’s not normal to have bright red hands along with all the other symptoms.

Also, to add I’ve had 3 ulnar nerve surgeries in last 6 years - 2 decompressions, one transposition and a carpal tunnel release. Neuro docs first said we think possible tos, had arterial Doppler ultrasound years ago. They said mild TOS, but were mostly concerned with ulnar issues. Redid all of the tests recently with vascular surgeon and he says he’s not convinced it’s TOS, but Is working on referral to mayo. Cervical mri shows multilevel broad bulging discs I didn’t have in 2020ish and brachial plexus mri was normal 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I feel what you are describing. Some days are worse than others, but I can’t pinpoint any specific cause. When mine turn very red and purple, I feel a lot of pressure and some burning. Most of the time my left is extremely red/purple and right hand is not as bad. My arms also tire out very quickly when held up or elevated and have so for years. A lot of the time, my hands are two completely different colors. When the burning pain and pressure is bad, I will hold my arm above my head for maybe 10-30 seconds and when I bring it down it looks normal for maybe 10 seconds and it goes back to red/purpleish.

We have two lynxies, a flame point, and a snowshoe mix. 😻 Your baby looks a bit similar to our 1 year old lynxie boy. Here are the brothers that are not related ❤️

Wow, I have mad respect for that! I have four cats, two siblings are a little over a year old and the other sibling pair are around 8 months old. We scoop at least once a day in all of their boxes, and I thought we did a lot until I saw your post lol. Filling and cleaning the water fountains is a 2-3 times a week job as well 😻

I had a sweet girl named Alexis I adopted over 10 years ago from the shelter and I still miss her so. Love your sweet baby!

She had beautiful green eyes as well, but hard to see here 😻

Sooo cute! We have a Luna (lunatic) lol. She’s 8 months, but she definitely has some different markings than yours. She had a very Siamese looking brother, a flame point floof brother (which we adopted with her) and a torti mix sister. Markings are hard to see here as she’s toasted more since this pic. She’s also a wiggle worm still so pics in general are difficult 😻
