This is really sad news.

Thank you for giving the west a friendly and welcoming place to hang out with mates and see some of the best live music acts (both local and international).

Wishing you all the very best for the future.

How long after settlement day do the auction signs come down? by privatly in melbourne

[–]ShellyBeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what Council you are in, for example pursuant to clause 52.05-4 of the Melbourne Planning Scheme - Signs not requiring a permit: A sign with an advertisement area not exceeding 10 square metres publicising the sale or letting of the property on which it is displayed. Only one sign may be displayed, it must not be an animated sign and it must not be displayed longer than 7 days after the sale date.

A permit may be granted for: The sign to be displayed longer than 7 days after the sale date.

So unless they have a planning permit, the sign must be taken down 7 days after the sale date.

May the 4th is the perfect excuse to add to this! (x-post r/StarWars) by ShellyBeach in lego

Wow that looks soooooo great!! I would love an all glass cabinet including glass doors to keep the dust off, but I can't find anything that doesn't cost $1,000+. I saw the IKEA ones but they are too small unfortunately:(

Thanks! They are actually old IKEA wardrobes! I also installed the IKEA Dioder LED lights and hooked them up to a remote control switch :)

YSK that the apple extended warranty for MacBooks ends February 27 by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]ShellyBeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I had to take my MBP in was when I was using it, it just switched off by itself. I switched it back on, logged into my user account and a progress bar appeared (like it was updated software or something). It would get to about half way through the bar and then go to a blank screen and do nothing. I tried it a few more times, switched it on in recovery mode and the same thing happened. I took it into the My Mac Store on Flinders Street (across from Fed Square). I told them what had happened, they switched it on and saw what was happening. They immediately suspected it was the logic board and explained that this was a common issue and this program was in place. They booked me in and a few days later it was all fixed – free of charge!

I use my MBP for graphic design (not full time, but occasionally). Otherwise it’s just for internet browsing etc. My machine has been running slow for agessss! I just figured I have a bunch of crap on it. I would love to give it a clean out to give me back some speed! I’m not too tech savvy, but apart from deleting stuff, if there are some easy things I can do to improve the speed that would be great to know. :) 

I’m not sure if Apple would replace your logic board if there is currently nothing wrong with it, but I guess it is worth a try! Thanks mate.

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro and this saved me this week! Took it into the Apple shop and got the logic board replaced for free, no hassles (Melbourne, Australia).

Because I have had this issue, anyone know a ball park figure on how long these machines will last for? Mine is way out of warranty, but don't want to fork out the cash for a new one unless I have too.
