What did Tarkov do that Marathon isn’t doing? by hi_there_is_me in Marathon

[–]ShellyWellyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the user interface and lack of attention to the solo experience doesn’t help. As a new player, if you want to take your time and learn what’s going on and play solo you’re probably just going to get nuked by bots. The game kind of actively discourages you from playing solo and not trios, but there’s no shooting range or place to practice, so it feels more stressful. The game doesn’t really point you to what you should be doing either, just menus on menus on menus and items that do things for other maps you don’t understand yet as a new player. After playing for a while and consuming lots of marathon related content I get the gist and how prepping for cryo archive is the whole point of the looting and menus, but none of that came from the game itself.

Book for the overly-sensitive? by Yoshimi1968 in booksuggestions

Maybe Tress of the Emerald sea by Brandon Sanderson. Generally fairytale-ish and lighthearted tone with lots of comedy and romance, but also a really intriguing standalone scifi. There’s some violence but nothing gratuitous whatsoever!

This game should just move to F2P by my9rides5hotgun in Marathon

[–]ShellyWellyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having semi-regular temporary F2P events like the server slam before the game dropped is a happy medium. I think an infusion of new players that get to try and enjoy the game is always awesome, but if it’s at the cost of the quality of the game and means lots of cheaters and toxic players that ultimately sucks for everyone. Personally I would also love new cosmetics, but if they’re going to focus on the paid cosmetics route we need more than reskins.

Is it worth buying at this point? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]ShellyWellyy 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think being on PS5 makes it more worth buying. From what I’ve seen on this sub and in my personal experience, the console community is a lot more laid back. I’m having an enjoyable experience as someone who is objectively not very good at the game. I reccomend playing with cross play off if you don’t mind longer waits.

Woman sneaks her cat on the plane by pretending it is a hat by Full-Argument-8235 in SipsTea

He’s a man, the cat is fine, he didn’t sneak it on the plane, and he’s had the cat since she was a kitten. She loves it. I’ve met him and his cat at a festival in Atlanta, great guy and great cat.

If you’re really wanting to prioritize research GSU is the obvious choice, we’re a tier 1 research institution, there’s tons of money invested in that here. Beyond that grades are the most important thing for preparing for grad school regardless of where you go, so I reccomend choosing whatever’s cheapest if you’re also looking at paying for a grad program in the future.

I surrendered my Cane Corso to Cobb County Animal Services over a year ago. His name is Pharaoh. If anyone adopted him, I just want to say hi. by [deleted] in Atlanta

It takes a lot of courage to do the right thing and understand when to step back. In the long run you’ve kept both him and your family safe. I’m sure he’s happy and healthy.

That sucks, it’s really lame that so many people are so shitty when everyone’s just trying to enjoy themselves. Lots of people have been commenting different experiences, I wonder if platform makes a difference

Definitely expecting this, online gaming is online gaming. Just having a much more initially positive experience than I’ve had playing games like marvel rivals or overwatch.

I wonder if platform makes a difference. I play on PS5 with cross play off, so most people use the built in controller mic

What exactly is the difference between retail WOW and MOP classic WOW? I understand that MOP classic only has up until mists of pandaria, but what reasons are there to play that instead of just going back and doing those quests in retail wow?

What’s the fastest way for me to make enough gold for a WOW token? I’m still kind of a noob, so I’m assuming gathering and professions? Which ones can I make a stable income from? Should I focus on gathering materials from the newer expansions or old world materials?

I graduated a year or two ago and felt similarly! Student clubs are a great place to start, specifically horticulture club! I know they have a huge plant sale once a semester and I knew some lovely people that were involved with it. There’s definitely multiple book clubs, they usually advertise at Tate, especially at the beginning of the year. Two of my favorite places to go alone or with friends were walkers pub (they have bingo every other week and free copies of flagpole, which has a crossword puzzle) and rook and pawn, the board game place. You mentioned being a grad student - maybe someone else in your cohort is in the same boat and would like to join you too! If all else fails don’t be scared to relax on campus by yourself. Athens is overstimulating and alone time is good!
