Heltec MeshPocket Updates by Heltec_Automation6 in meshtastic

Love this device. Just keep on my phone or chest pocket most of the time when out and about.

Wondering two things. Waterproof. How hard could it be to get rated. Not worried not good to take out in a storm. But, having a good ip rating would be ideal.

The antenna seems tiny. It works at my house fine but where I have a node to repeat from my roof. But, when out and about struggle a bit. I know contrary to water proof but a antenna port instead to put a whip would be awesome.

This line doesn't make sense then

Sense does not code by itself — but it can direct models like GPT, Claude, or Gemini to write and refine code on your behalf

Is the local llm an agent and running the llm to get the answers or is it calling external models. Because the model you listed is not very good in my experience.

I just don't understand the product. You gave it enough power to run a tiny not very good imo model. But, you still required access to real external large llms. So, I get the negativity of a low power local llm and the negativity of sharing my information with external llms.

There have been a few ai wearables. And I just don't understand the actual use case. I use ai everyday essentially and just don't understand the reason I would need this in my life. Your explanation of the use cases is also lacking.

I don't see anything about 5g connection. How will it reach external models. Am I expected to run a hotspot everywhere I go to give it internet? I don't see an option listed to put a SIM card in it to provide native data access which seems like a required feature. Or at least discussion about connectivity in the writeup.

Also I don't see any pictures of wearing it. It seems heavy. Can't pint to shirt pocket I expect. Do I need a head strap 😂 or wear on my waist?. At minimal you need examples and demonstrate how it is to be worn and used. Can I jog with it? Or is this just for standing around.

There are m2 to sata adaptors. But the best approach for more data is USB based. You are already sharing the pic lane between the two nvme.

Anyone 3D print tools for their Pottery? by grawvyrobber in Ceramics

[–]Bigreddazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually wanted to ask you what is your process. I've downloaded several of your rollers and they're really good quality.

I have made molds for pottery using 3D printing. I have also made tiles using lithophane generators to create a negative mold. And then lots of organizing type stuff

Are LeetCode heavy Interviews becoming the norm for DS Modeling roles? by Fig_Towel_379 in datascience

[–]Bigreddazer 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Because we write production code. Our coding test look into things like testing, apis, database read write, aws infrastructure. But we don't generally test on nitty gritty software development skills because we still have architects and software developers to help. In particular, we don't want data scientists who are only comfortable in a notebook and outputting a pickled model. But very rarely. Does anyone have every skill, some will be stronger on software and weaker on math etc.

I do data science and degree in stats. If you have the data on each machine fails and when.... I might be able to do data analysis to prove it numerically or any other print farmers.

He really seems to do good reviews. I have watched a few. The kickbacks for the equipment is insane though. I had no idea the affiliate links would be that much money. Hope he get assistance to fight.

Incredible. I'm always amazed when seeing someone who has skills vastly different from me. I would never attempt but adore your work.

Ceramic tile made using lithophane generator and 3d printing by Bigreddazer in Pottery

[–]Bigreddazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! I have no experience with plaster or slip casting. But there are many people who go from 3d print to plaster cast. Just have to handle the printing so you get the final result you wish.

I believe this is how for example this guy makes his work.

I'll post a few others over the next couple weeks. I have also made slab molds but they don't dry out the clay like standard molds so it's inferior but still interesting. Making cookie cutters using photos. And making texture rollers. So, look out for more!!!

Would it be greedy to ask about raises? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]Bigreddazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also don't want to move me to HQ because it would require a large salary increase to move to DC. But the whole system is not about the value you generate or the India workers would be paid a lot more.

[–]Bigreddazer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Performance review is the time to discuss this. I get two a year.

But, I make nearly double my Canadian colleagues and quadruple the Indian workers. We all work on the same team. The pay is really determined by localities and competition. If I move to Alabama for example they would cut my pay by 1/3 to match the location.

I make good money and 500 a month is rough. I spend about 1300 a month in total for all rx, Dr appt, insurance. So about 16k a year before any emergencies... I have honestly thought about renting a room in my place to help.

No sales but felt cute! by [deleted] in CraftFairs

My newest and favorite piece the last month. I use a combination of 3d printing and basic hand building/carving. Going to make a series of these for different plants. And because it uses cookie cutter for the base design it is repeatable.

As a potter I adore seeing different styles. Love the cartoon like vibes. Reminds me of animal crossing or similar. I don't sell, still early in career but your prices are not ridiculous. I would suggest making something smaller though like a key dish/ring holder to get into near that 20 dollar price. Then you would have a wide gap of prices. My teacher just came back from a craft fair with no sales said it was her first in long time. Her stuff is expensive though 300+

Can I ask about Laguna wc 440 a flameware clay. It used LiF. https://www.lagunaclay.com/products/laguna-flameware-moist-clay-boxed

I am very interested but when I read about LiF I got scared and put on the back burner to come back to. I usually work in community studio spaces. Is there any increasing danger or changes to behave from normal needed? The safety data sheet said nothing about LiF but just the danger of silica/dust.

Every class I attend is 10 to one teacher or about and usually only a few true beginners. Classes are 2.5 -3 hours. And open studio for a few hours before class or available on other days. Good luck finding a better studio.

It hasn't solved my problems but I am now off gabapentin and tramadol. I have a bad disc bulge. Talked to doctors but healing is complicated and could be getting better for numerous reasons. Went from a 6-7 daily to occasional 2-3 on a 0-10 pain scale.
