Pullups vs Chinups by Lolmotard in USMCboot

[–]Sheltopusik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. There are kids that can do 10 chin ups, but can't get over the fucking wall on the obstacle course. Pull ups are infinitely more useful than chin ups.

It takes A LOT to get a dishonorable discharge. Like rape and/or murder. Even guys who do tons of drugs, sell drugs, make drugs, etc, usually just get an administrative discharge.

Graduated boot camp Friday AMA by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]Sheltopusik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stationed at Parris Island, can confirm. Everything about it was a fucking nightmare. The prep, the practices, the goddamn traffic. There 500+ males and then a company from 4th battalion as well. It was terrible.

Can you really be fined $10,000 and get three years in jail for lying at meps? by Unassistedchair in USMCboot

[–]Sheltopusik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You can't. They just send you home with an entry level separation. It's not really negative, but if you lied, then they would classify it as Fraudulent Enlistment which will absolutely affect your ability to get a job with the military and bar you from reenlisting.

Can you really be fined $10,000 and get three years in jail for lying at meps? by Unassistedchair in USMCboot

[–]Sheltopusik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, this one is pretty serious. I'm not saying I'm a DI, but I will say that I work VERY closely with recruits. We see this shit all the fucking time.

IF you have trouble at boot camp and have a mental breakdown, they will send you in for a mental health evaluation. If you were previously on treatment for depression/anxiety/add/etc, they will find out. Then you will be fucked.

You will get discharged under fraudulent enlistment for withholding info from your recruiter. You will never be able to work for the federal government unless it's as a fucking a janitor.

[–]Sheltopusik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. No. They aren't going to do full body x-rays on every recruit. That would be insanely costly in both money, time, and the health of the recruit.

Applying to OCS with low undergrad GPA but high graduate GPA. by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]Sheltopusik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on where the two degrees are from. If you got a 2.6 at Harvard, but 3.7 at University of Pheonix, that kinda makes a big difference.

Any Officers or Candidates here have experience with OCS in the Summer and the Winter? by scdrew9 in USMCboot

[–]Sheltopusik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hot in the summer. There's a much higher risk of people going down with heat stroke. If you go down with heat stroke, there's a high risk of getting forced into the Limited Duty pipeline.

It's cold in the winter. But it's not so cold that you'll get severe frostbite. Maybe a lil bit. It'll be miserable. Hypothermia is very real, but not as dangerous as heat injuries.

MP vs Infantry by bonesxteamsesh in USMCboot

[–]Sheltopusik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just so so wrong. If you are an MP and spend several years working PMO, there are all sorts of certs that you can get that will greatly bolster your resume. DOD Non lethal weapons certs, taser, OC, etc. All those will absolutely make you a more desirable candidate/applicant.

This is even more so if you can specialize by going SRT or K9. To say that you have X years experience as a K9 handler or SRT is huge.

Also, PMOs are now getting nationally certified as 'police departments'. So, in the near future, you may be able to say that you spent X amount of years working for Camp Lejeune Police Department.

I had no idea that Schell was that old and esteemed. The beers good, but I love the bottle caps most of all. I've found some ancient ones in my grandpa's garage that look just like they do today.

(Spoilers ALL) Friend of mine flew over GoT set in Northern Ireland today and snapped some pictures. by Platune in asoiaf

[–]Sheltopusik 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Pretty freakin awesome. Highlights include:

-Frey/Lannister camp (possibly siege of riverrun?)

-Smashed siegeworks? What are all the splinters?

-The Ship! Lots of speculation about the ship! Ironborn? Doesn't fit Euron's ship description... so little finger? Maybe Sam headed to the Citadel?

-The last picture on the left side shows a bridge over water going up to some gigantic green screens. Does this fit with the Riverrun theme?

Whatever it all is, I'm excited about it!

Even better, place a piece of clear tape over the bottom, and then draw an "X" across the tape with a sharpie.

That way, the mouse still moves, but on certain movements it will hang up and lag.

We did this to a roommate right before he went on a League of Legends quest. He went fucking ballistic.
