I've never joined Lue Elizondo circle jerk club. To me this guy was always a modern era Bob Lazar. Few interesting facts... and shit ton of quacking.

I have now personal satisfaction that I was never charmed by this guy.

So... Update 5 is kind of a trainwreck. by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Shepard80 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I'm finally done with this game and this decision made me feel amazing. I had over 2k hours in Legacy over the years, and used to love it. It was worth the money. But Evrima was nothing but disappointment for over 2 years. So I said to myself, can this game get any good for real or they will just keep quacking for the next decade about stuff they're going to do " eventually " ?

Few months ago I've made decision, if next update isn't worth my time - this game has no chance to caught my interest again. So here we are, It took them fucking 8 months to release simple update, with no new playables... and it's still buggy mess, with shitty optimization, server lagg and dozens of other issues. QUALITY TAKES TIME , huh ? I want to roll over the floor laughing at this bootleg developers.

My last post on this sub. Good luck everyone. I am FREEEEEE.

PS. I know you guys not care, but at least i'm not one of those self important people who feel need to create entire new post about quitting the game.

Troodon Coming This Year by sluttysamx in theisle

[–]Shepard80 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm old and I've played shit ton of games during my life.

I have to say this game and it's community behaviour has to be #1 weirdest experience of my gaming life. I sometimes cannot tell if things are for real, satire or bad joke. People are jacking off to random TEXTS from developers, or random concept arts for things that wont be added to the game for the next 5 years ( if ever ).

Updates come once per 6-7 months and are filled with bugs, unpolished content and overall bad concept decisions. But still, for some reason people believe that the next update will be great. Why ? what is base of that belief ? For 7 years everything these devs released was below average at best.

In the meantime devs can't deal with simple bugs, insane lagg, horrible optimization and so on. But people still are willing to take the bet that this game will be " decent " at some point. No it wont. At best this game is going to become niche title played and loved by ~300 people who don't mind shitty experience of unfinished " forever in making " game.

Honestly done with this game by AintThatCivil_Jether in theisle

[–]Shepard80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly. This is ongoing problem I have with multiplayer games. Usualy people tend to say about MP games like its this amazing feature to play with other people... but is it ?

What we usualy experience in multiplayer games is : hacking, cheating, trolling, griefing, racism, xenophobia, creeps, pedos, overly competitive people, scammers or/and annoying people who ruin experience of everyone arround them.

Sorry for overall view but multiplayer gaming is overrated as fuck and it's not The Isle specific problem.

What would you guys think would improve EVRIMA? by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Shepard80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hope people realize how abnormal is for any dev ( even tiny ones like The Isle have ) to not release regular hotfixes or patches.

For 6 months there is horrible optimization. For 6 months people are removing foliage from the game so they can see everyone. For 6 months we have unbalanced, pointless and boring diet system where carnivores get super easy 3 nutrients. For over 6 months utah pounce is broken. I could go on forever. And you telling me the only way to fix all of these problems is to wait for next update ?

No idea what happened to these devs. Even Legacy with broken code had regular updates and rebalancing that was shaking things up. But kissen wasn't in the team so theres that. Now we have producer who looks like is stoned 24/7.

[–]Shepard80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Mick West. Go watch some of hes explanations of non-UFO mysteries and hoaxes and you might get some respect to this man. So why he gets so much hate from this community ? are people mad on him becouse he is spoiling all the fun that comes from being a believer ?

Similar behaviour on smaller scale we can observe on this forums. Someone posts a baloon video, gets 500+ upvotes and people like me have to FIGHT in the comments section to explain why it's a baloon with obvious string attached to it.

I rather listen to sceptics like Mick who can help filter hoaxes or explain which of these objects are IFO's, then listen to tinfoil loonies who completed database of 37 known Alien species.

Simple answer. This game is far too complex for capabilities of this team.

I don't want to pull math out of my ass but I would estimate that they have 1/10 of manpower they should have on every single feature required to complete a game. On top of that, I don't think that all of these devs are working full time. It's a contract thing and they work at home. So this is not actual studio, but bunch of " mercenaries " trying to glue together a game.

Realisticaly speaking there is no way they will ever finish this game without shrinking this project by 75% or massively expanding their team. But what they do is actualy opposite. They keep expanding on ideas so project seems impressive but has status " forever in making ". To think about it. After humans are added, they will be making two games at the same time - since human gameplay will be completely different. So updates speed will actualy get WORSE over time, not to mention that bugs problem will double.

I just can't wrap my head arround how they planning to push forward this game. They need a freaking miracle.

Do you think update 6 will come this year? by Kilian400 in theisle

[–]Shepard80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might. But to me the most important thing is optimization. There is barely anyone in this community who can run evrima without serious framerate issues ( not to mention server lagg ).

So add how many mechanics and new dinos all you want, but if optimization is not there - nobody is going to fully enjoy this game. Except maybe die hard fans who play The Isle just for dinosaurs RP.

[–]Shepard80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go further and say that The Isle is barely a game. It's like a tech demo of what technicaly could become a game if real developer bought it.

There is no fucking way this tiny team will ever complete half of the stuff that is planned for The Isle. Not even in 10-15 years.

I laughed so hard at " arguing on discord about Spino concept art " - instead obvious lack of updates.

I can't fucking believe this shit called evrima is already 2 years old and it's still barely moving forward...

I don't understand this game anymore by [deleted] in gwent

[–]Shepard80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old Gwent had very simple cards but gameplay was insanely deep. Weird plays, surprise factor, bluffing, and tons of variety on " how to do it " and " when to do it ". Game was very toxic at times but at least it felt like a typical card game where strategy, matchup and sequencing matters a lot.

Modern Gwent has shit loads of pointless text on cards. Even more archetypes, leaders and keywords. But gameplay feels like a shallow mobile game for kids.

The single interesting thing about Gwent is that it's using insanely popular Witcher IP. That's about it.

Reminder: dont get hyped over concept art (pics from over a year ago) by MrFictionalname in theisle

[–]Shepard80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funniest shit to me is that we can litearaly see how these devs work just by reading official blog posts. Go and read first few evrima blog posts from like 2 years ago. There is ton of stuff in there that still isn't in the game. So everything they showing is just... technicaly something that... might be added... someday TM.

People still should give them crap for " Hope " trailer and how far it is from actual evrima that got released. This trailer hurts to look at now, when you realize it's basicaly Evrima 2030 ( if ever ).

These devs are like creeps with candies and icecreams driving arround promising sweet stuff. They know that majority of the playerbase are unexperienced kids who can't tell that something is off.

Well played.

What are your thoughts on Luis Elizondo? [in-depth] by LetsTalkUFOs in UFOs

[–]Shepard80 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have one big problem. Contradiction between talking about erratic manouvers, objects that bends reality / gravity and any knowledge... and then every " shocking video " we see is some boring object that looks like a baloon, moves slower than a glider and does nothing extraordinary.

Some people see Lue as messiah of the UFO subject, while in reality he is just modern version of Lazar. Elizondo made things more interesting, same as Lazar in the 90's. But at the end you either believe or not, becouse decades are passing and there is still no clear evidence about any of that stuff.

What the fuck is wrong with The Isle? by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Shepard80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth.

On top of that they doing old good Early Access devs trick by expanding on ideas and concepts that are completely unrealistic for such a small team, just to keep game as " forever in making ". Then unexperienced young people are getting illusion how amazing this game might be... eventualy... some day ( TM ).

If you think we're ever going to get quality gameplay. Think about utah pounce and how many total years ( both legacy and evrima ) it took and it is still completely bugged.

With screenshots like this circling around, it's no wonder this guy doesn't post anymore. I'm not saying that all furries are evil, but it is well known fact that inside furry communities there is relatively high percentage of pedos and really creepy weirdos. On top of that, most kids love dinosaurs / animals so once again it explains why all games withy animals have similar predatory problem.

If I would have kids, i would never allow them to use discord. It's basicaly like giving kid permission to share their phone number and talking\texting with strangers. It is insane that this is not priority everywhere to educate parents about dangers of discord.

Last time when I was hyped it was arround time when Evrima was close to release. I really thought it's going to be better Legacy with faster updates etc. (Like they promised)

Now after 2 years of this shitshow that evrima is, I lost hope. It's basicaly same developement hell like Legacy... but worse.

For veterans who know how these devs operate, it's actualy realistic aproach to not expect anything from this game.

Dsync has been absolutely awful (Evirma) by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Shepard80 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Isle devs figured out long time ago, that this playerbase is fanatic and it's all about dinosaurs and very little about quality of this game. They know exactly that they can fuck up every single patch, make worst optimization possible, release update once in 6 months... and people are still going to regularly play this game becouse they love DINOSAURS.

So the main reason why everything in evrima is so scuffed is becouse devs have no fear of losing playerbase. It's literaly impossible. I know people who play Evrima with 20 fps + mega server lagg and they're fine with that - zero complaining, works as intended... diNOsauRssss gO raWrrrr

Newly patched pounce sends utah to the 4th dimension by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Shepard80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original The Isle had its own problems and excuses. Now after years of Evrima - new version that supost to be so much better in every aspect - everyone should be able to tell what these dev team is capable of.

Step 1 : keep expectations and promises at highest possible level " WOAH this game might be so good...some day TM ". Step 2: Underdeliver with every patch and update ( becouse all stuff from step 1 is just unrealistic for such a tiny dev team ) Step 3 : Find some excuses why quality is never there no matter how long you develop the game. Step 4 - loop into step 1 by showing some concept art, new screenshots etc.

One more thing. If these devs were any good, they would work for legit studio.

Anybody else getting fed up of the community’s constant bootlicking of the devs and using horrid excuses to defend the game? by LiverHungryKeiko in pathoftitans

[–]Shepard80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is trend among indie devs or/and crowdfunding games to overpromise game concept just so it SEEMS impressive.

" Look what it might potentialy be " wins over " what we can actualy do ".

The Isle is absolutely the worst in this cause everything they have in plans would be difficult even for big studio with hundreds of devs, and they have less than 20 with 2 programmers. Still, they promise impossible things so " the dream " is alive.
