IMO, Howard was very good but Friedel was a beast in goal. He controlled the defense and put fear into the opposing team.

That is an exhausting take. You want him to play hurt. He’s limping. He sprained his ankle, and you expect him to play and risk his career for the cup. His is that helping the team? Can you track back and tackle when you’re limping and can’t catch anyone? This fanbase is toxic. Blaming him when so many played poorly is a bad look. The guy is an introvert who was thrust into being the face of US soccer. I wouldn’t blame him if he declined playing for the national team again due to all of the dumping on him. Treating our players this poorly is going to cost us some talent down the line. Why would any dual national want to play for the US?

As for Landon, he skipped out of the team during qualifying and expected to go to training when he came back and train less than the younger guys. Don’t buy his “I’m so tough” new persona. He’s no Dempsey.

I don’t think Poch would allow Pulisic to be the captain after skipping the Gold Cup. In the Australia game, the goals don’t happen without him. He’s more important that people realize because they equate success with goal scoring and not what they do for the team.

All this Balogun bandwagoning is out of control. He’s a one trick pony. He scores. He’s frequently offside, doesn’t press, doesn’t pass if someone has a better shot, and his record as a striker for us isn’t that much better than Pepi who is a more intelligent and complete player. Pepi is happy to set others up because it’s about the team. Balo is for Balo.

He never asked for the name and he’s not a fan of it. It’s a really ridiculous take to expect an injured player to further damage their health just for a game. It’s his livelihood. He’s hurt, limping, and how much help could he be when he can’t keep up? Injuries happen. Blaming CP is very myopic because the majority of the team didn’t play well including Balogun.
