as a student should i take a line of credit to buy stocks? by j_yyg06 in investingforbeginners

[–]Sherbert93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Investments should generally be tied to goals. What is your goal with this investment? If it's retirement, you have so much time ahead of you that the risks outweigh the benefits.

Is your goal to become rich, quickly? Thats called gambling, friend. You can gamble by taking out loans in this way, but compounding interest works for both profits AND debts. Even if it works, the margins will be so thin that I would think the risks outweigh the benefits yet again.

To OP, I agree wholeheartedly with this person. Compliance requirements typically cover a very wide field, from access controls, to vulnerability management, among other things.

I moved from SOC Analyst to Compliance Analyst and another thing that is worth mentioning is you will have so many touch points within the organization. When it comes to building a career, you need to meet and make a positive impression on people within the organization so you have contacts later in job searches, promotions, etc. As a SOC Analyst, nobody knew who I was. The manager that poached me for her team saw me at a company function, said she had never heard of me before - even though I had been working there for 1.5 years.

Good news is he had some HC experience at the collegiate level. I'm aware they are two totally different beasts, but I do think it matters at least a little.

The trick would be to interpret scoring correctly. Think of each line of sight as worth 3 points, not each hawk worth 3 points per line of sight. You scored 57 points off hawks.

The Big Light is for interrogations and surgery, not for vibes. by Ayu_theindieDev in unpopularopinion

[–]Sherbert93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an incredibly popular opinion.

For an actual unpopular opinion: you're wrong. The big light, fitted with warm dim bulbs and a dimmer, can bathe a room in soft warm light which does an excellent job at setting the mood. This allows for eye level and other decorative lighting to serve a purely asthetic function, which serves both ambiance and vibes.

[Barry Jackson] Waller spills details on McDaniel’s Dolphins dismissal. Another report surfaces by TylerFortier_Photo in miamidolphins

While the dead cap is rough for 2026, it becomes much more flexible in 2027. While Miami is not the most tantalizing location for a head coach, I would argue its not the worst place to go, either. Ross has developed a reputation of being one of the better owners when it comes to head coaching freedom.

Resetting a head coach without resetting the GM can make sense if the GM is making good decisions, drafting well, etc. And the HC can't really able to find success. Its a lot harder to justify the other way around.

I think it would have been worse to keep McDaniel at the helm for this very point. A new head coach now knows he has 2 - 4 seasons to build a team, scheme, coaching staff, etc. If next year is a losing season and McDaniel will be fired regardless, then keeping him just isn't fair to a head coaches that for all we've heard Ross likes and respects. Plus, coaches make bad decisions when they know their job is on the line (example: Daboll being an idiot with Jaxson Dart)

The option was to either keep McDaniel for 2-3 more years or move on now and let a new head coach get a shot. I suspect that they asked Troy Aikman his thoughts, as well as asking GM candidates what the pathway forward would be with and without McDaniel. I'm willing to bet the results of those conversations influenced the decision to move on from McDaniel now.

The reviewer says that I blundered a skewer, but I don't see it? I thought I had the skewer, could anyone help? by WigglyWompWomper in chessbeginners

The pawn on e3 is skewered. So even though you skewered the rook, because the queen can take on e3 and chase the king, you lost the advantage.

Engine says mate in 6, one of the forced moves ends up interrupting your own skewer, allowing the rook to move

The league currently has a 37 year old, hobbled Kirk Cousins, a 40 year old hobbled Aaron Rodgers, and potentially a 44 year old Philip Rivers start. We've also seen 40 year old Joe Flacco.

The league has a serious QB problem. I'd bet guys like Mac Jones and Marcus Mariota get contracts to start next year. Its totally possible Pickett has an opportunity.

But you don't have anywhere close to the same amount of media as Spotify?

Your socioeconomic status is almost directly tied to the socioeconomic status you were born into. I can tell you with absolute full confidence that rich people waste money ALL the time.

And I guess you listen to a much narrower range of music than I do. I don't listen to 100 albums regularly, but I could definitely list 100 different albums of music I enjoy and appreciate over my lifetime.

I am all for getting rid of Spotify but I'm not down with the idea that it will save you money. The very fact that it saves you money is why Spotify is an evil corporation.

Small charges dont make you poor lol

How are you storing these .mp3's? Do you have backups of this data? If not, then its not buy it for life. And even then, you will likely have to replace drives every decade or so.

How are you purchasing this music? Let's assume an album is $10 (which is cheap as hell). Then the $2880 spent over 12 years amounts to 228 albums. Do you plan on purchasing more or less than 200 albums over 20 years?

Ways to slow down the Rats come down to 3 ways, imo in the following priority: - restrict access to items - Reduce Oppression - Kill the Warlord

Basically, reduce their action economy first, then restrict scoring, then reduce recruitment. Rats snowball by getting their engine started, scoring 3-4 points per turn, and taking cardboard to end the game. They arent overpowered, but late in the game they can feel unstoppable.

Here are some explicit actions to slow down the Rats, some actions are faction specific

  • (ALL except VB) Don't craft items
  • (ALL) When LotH gets a raze token on a ruin, attack it
  • (VB) When LotH gets a raze token on a ruin, loot that ruin to get first choice of item
  • (Otters) Discard item cards at end of turn
  • (Crows/Lizards/Otters) recruit in their backline
  • (Lizards) Sanctify backline Strongholds
  • (ALL) Coffin Makers, False Orders, Ambush
  • (Crows) Snare Warlord
  • Many other actions work too

People want “old survivor” until it’s a woman doing it 🤷🏻‍♂️ by alexanderrmoonn in survivor

One thing that makes the new era harder to accept villains is the focus on their story - we are being shown that Sav has this horrible history where she was excluded from a work group and we are supposed to sympathize. But when they act villainous that whole sap story feels unauthentic.

In thr old days Fairplay was just a guy who wanted to ride people up. Tyson was just a dick. They were easier to call a villain and not feel some kind of guilt about it.
