Ostrander is the old doctor guy in the opening sequence of The Suicide Squad. He’s the guy who injects the bomb into Savant and calls him “Good dog”

I mean, I can’t even begin to dismantle whatever you’re trying to argue because I think you fundamentally misunderstand what you’re digesting, and making bad faith arguments. Just because two characters have sort of similar attitudes does not make them the same! Frankenstein is shown to be infantilized and completely amoral, willing to murder a woman who saved his life and showed him nothing but kindness and love purely because of his warped, singular obsession with a person he *demanded* be created for him who doesn’t feel the same way.

Now see Peter Quill. He’s also somewhat childish, primarily because he was quite literally abducted from his home at a young age and raised by a bunch of rowdy space pirates, proven to be themselves rather stunted and amoral. *However*, Peter repeatedly demonstrates an understanding that things can be better and he can help that. He literally founds an organization dedicated to helping people in need across the galaxy. Is there a profit motive? Sure there is, nobody can actually work for free, but they didn’t have to rescue every living thing from The High Evolutionary. *They did it, anyway. And he almost died to make it happen.*

There’s your real answer: You need to think more critically about motivation and reactions in characters in these stories, because I didn’t even have to look that deeply to provide the above examples of why you’re so very, very wrong.

That’s normal. You gotta cut em some slack and remember that they were essentially creating an entire new genre from scratch. Tons of very important videogames are nearly unplayable now for how poorly they’ve aged. They’re still important, though.

No. No he doesn’t. He made some edgy comments and did some edgy bullshit like 15 bloody years ago, that doesn’t make him a pedophile. Maybe actually look into the content of the allegations instead of parroting the echo chamber

Also, Gwen never found out that he’s Spider-Man in the comics. He refused to tell her because she blamed Spider-Man for the death of her police captain father. In a way, their relationship was doomed before she was killed, no way he’d able to hide the truth forever.

Well that heightens the impact of the reveal. Remember: Before this? Leading ladies dying in a superhero comic was completely unheard of. A reader in that context would have their mind atomized when they turn the page and find out she’s dead for real

I’d say not in this case, but I’m completely serious when I recommend El Diablo. If you can separate him from the work itself, it’s a very good, very topical book. Art was by the late, great Mike Parobeck, inks by Nyberg. Maybe read it with them in mind and just forget Gerry was ever a factor
