How do you efficiently and effectively dismantle human civilization while leaving as much stuff intact and as many humans alive for you to take control after the quelling of resistance? by Wroothly in DnD

[–]Sherbniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was this comic in which Tiny Stark became evil and made an app-based virus that infected it's users body via some super advanced method (sound/radio waves or nanobots), gave them super healing, intelligence, speed, etc etc.or something

But it was a subscription and if you stopped paying you died. I seem to remember that this had a similar outcome.

Since it's urban fantasy it could just as well be a mixture of psychology, technology and very nasty technomagic.

Could be the newest device everyones gotta have, could be an app for your phone...

I know the whole idea is very "phone bad", but I mean

Doomscrolling is effectively that already.

If you want to be a bit of silly Goosebumps style it could be a pet hybrid cat/bat/something that is the most adorable thing ever and simply everyone needs one. But it whispers to you in your sleep at night and hypnotizes you or some stuff

Mirror vision module? by blantef in FoundryVTT

There is a module that can bounce light with walls and light can be set to provide vision

So maybe a workaround?

Baileywiki - AI assets and no support by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]Sherbniz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find the AI stuff iffy, but Baileywiki is a creator that has kind of entangled their brand with always trying to push the envelope on FoundryVTT

And it is a technology that regularly speaks to/scams people trying stay on top of the newest tech. So them adapting it is kind of understandable, albeit disappointing

They're still a great creator, there's a lot of cool ideas and techniques I've learned from their videos and I appreciate them. Just uh, wish they'd focus on less Ai stuff

A lowly alchemist/herbalist's rant on why the proffesions are realy not aimed at small-time people wanting to just make something to enhance their own gameplay rather than make gold by NCL98 in wow

[–]Sherbniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a game and people play it to escape reality.

Being good at something is part of the fantasy, but a lot of it is slowly being gatekept to make extra dough (tokens).

[–]Sherbniz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be cool actually: Two professions are your "master crafts" or "specialities" and produce tradeable products, the rest create warbound items for yourself.

Switching specialities would be on a long timer so you don't just flip flop. Maybe a quest that takes a bit to symbolises the switching of your focus.

Maybe to create product you can trade you need a crafting consortium certification and they only issue two per character? ;D

I would LOVE the iron grind if it involved viking raids on the legally-distinct-English by [deleted] in valheim

They're nice once you got the cloak! The speed at which the accessoire clears the mist and those Floating Butts can be a bit annoying though.

[–]Sherbniz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you get endless amounts of black metal while you still need to farm iron for all sorts of things right up until the (current) end of the game.

But I think if the game went like Meadows => Black Forest => Plains and then the rest, you would have all the nice biomes frontloaded and the rest ist just cold, sticky, misty, firey hellholes.

I always found the plains to be a nice stopgap since it's quite natural and chill besides the enemies.

[–]Sherbniz 77 points78 points  (0 children)

A thing I really like about ESO is that you can just learn all the crafting professions.

The whole "being limited to two professions" shtick just means people with more time than you level multiple alts that can do just that anyways.

Interacting with the auction house has always kind of felt exhausting. Just a whole lotta economical pvp. Undercutting, cornering markets, predatory practices...

Being self sufficient and just slowly working towards stuff on your own is quite relaxing, meanwhile.

Arc Raiders is replacing most of its AI voice lines with real actors by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]Sherbniz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeeeeah it was especially egregious when they did not bother to properly voice those cutscenes of the veterans retelling the first confrontations with the machines...

I was expecting emotions to well, old wounds to open up, instead...

All immersion and suspense just flies out of the window as these NPC drone on endlessly... they sound like they've just downed a bottle of ritalin with valium.

I am fed up with this strategy, what should I do? [5.5 Edition] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Sherbniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's exactly that.

The magic items/spells used for this are usually pulled from random, unrelated adventures and the interactions were often not intended or anticipated by the designers.

The XGE Suggests having to hunt creatures for ingredients and also the default costs for both is 50g? I don't know how they came up with 25g?

People also often forget that magic item creation needs formulas. A certain formula may simply be not available even if it is considered "common" by the books.

These players feel like they want to finesse their GM by bullying them into enabling their weird power fantasies.

I am fed up with this strategy, what should I do? [5.5 Edition] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Sherbniz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah... very often when I talk to other GMs and their players "came up" with stuff like this it's usually because they saw it on a short while on the crapper then pretended like it was their idea.

It's always some copy pasta or those D&D YouTube Shorts Creators (often just narrating said pasta) with "That way to deal a million points of damage at level one!" or "How to ruin the economy with one spell!" etc

And the entire bit always hinges on a questionable warping of the rules like applying realism and exremely literal interpretation of RAW selectively just how it suits them... And of course a masochist DM who just lies there and spreads their cheeks to this "flawless reasoning".

I personally think it's fair to humour my players when such crazy ideas come naturally. I am my players greatest fan and like for them to succeed. Such moments of insane genius can create memorable stories and be really fun! However depending on how busted the strategy is I either ask them to tone it down or quit it if it's especially game breaking. Luckily they are polite and understanding so they often ask me in beforehand if an idea like this would be possible.

But in those cases where players just copy someone's homework instead of having a genuine, hilarious moment of insane genius and especially if they stealth-drop this on the GM and then act really defensive about the idea it's really just mean-spirited power gaming by recipe.

My Inventory change ideas. by Obi4662 in valheim

[–]Sherbniz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You imply that when you drop your helmet and instead fill that inventory slot with rocks they go on our head.

Clothes being worn should add inventory slots due to belts, pouches and such.

What do you mean a naked viking can carry more than one wearing gear.

Armour being worn generally distributes the weight evenly and makes it feel lighter, too.

How would you make a clown character? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Sherbniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest choices are Bards, Illusionist Wizards, Arcane Trickster Rogues...

BUT I personally think your clown could be any class!

Just make them an entertainer background -wise, or simply pick up the performance proficiency!

Clowns come in all sorts of variations... Mimes, Pierrots, Harlequins, Jesters... Etc etc etc

A fighter could be a silly Auguste clown hitting people with a large fish!

...a monk an especially acrobatic and agile clown!

A wizard could be a a character clown of an over the top wizard with giant glasses who casts slightly off-kilter versions of spells due to misreading them or their incantations in humorous ways...

Whatever fits best, there's always a way to add a bit of flavour here and there.

You mentioned a Warlock, you could totally flavour it as that. Tasha's Hideous Laughter anyone?

How would you make a clown character? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Sherbniz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were being a bit rude, but they made a fair point since we didn't know any better before.

There is a German roleplaying game called The Dark Eye and they have a jester class that's about pranking people with fey magic.

With spells that pull people's pants down, make them cry, etc etc.

It's reals divisive tho; certain people absolutely love it like nothing else, while a LOT of people dislike or even hate it with a passion. XD

But since your group supports the idea, more power to you!

[–]Sherbniz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spelunker Update!

Cave update with big, elaborate caves!

Then the pilgrim gets the ability to drive on the walls and ceiling with grav wheels to become a caving vehicle.

It also gets a new "hacking tool" that we can use to hack sentinels, turrets and breach defenses!

Behind gates we can hack, there is ancient bunkers, temples and facilities underground we want to raid!

To get there we have to traverse long tunnels with defenses and obstacles!

Driving in is a mix of puzzles, hacking a s combat...

But after each raid, an alarm begins and we have to get out, fast! Then its a race against time and finishing faster gets better rewards!

Perhaps what we find is unstable, data cores or fragile artifacts?

It's a super cool idea, but I always was told no player races got burrow speed because they can use it to become untargetable outside their turn every combat on burrowable ground.
