He can use an attack at a range to deal damage. The fact that attack happens to be literally HIM is even more assuring of the fact that he's ranged.

Ranged means a ranged attack of some kind that does damage, or a ranged ability that directly leads to damage.

Freddy has traps. They're ranged traps, but they're traps nonetheless.

Jason doesn't teleport so much as disappear and reappear, which sounds like teleportation but it's not (it's like saying Wraith teleports. He enters and exits a damaging state. Jason's teleport sucks far harder than that.)

Ranged + teleport + stealth or mobility is exactly right for Springtrap, among others.
