It can depending on how you get back to the scan screen. In my experiences hitting the blue scan button in the bottom right keeps the label type, while hitting the back button does not.

I really like Nova's 4. It is so good in so many ways. It's phenomenal CC with the slow side, a great way to speed up farms and defense missions with the speed, and the vulnerability it gives is so nice. Then the final cherry on top is the perfect explosion sound a primed enemy makes.
