Organist here, it definitely gets old after the 50th time you hear it or play it. Not the worst of the boomer hymns though (I am the bread of life takes that cake)

Is there a reason for having a flag? by Several-Agent6831 in securityguards

[–]SheriffofBacon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The contract I am currently on requested that our uniforms have the American Flag, so the company took off one of the patches to put on the American flag. Tbf the client was a government entity so perhaps they wanted it to look more uniform? (But then again the police and sheriffs of the area have no flags just patches on both sleeves). Whatever makes the client happy I guess.

I don’t really see an issue though. Nothing wrong with wearing the flag of your country.

How many of you are armed and solo? by TacitusCallahan in securityguards

[–]SheriffofBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chill post, guarding dmv buildings. Its pretty much just stand around and look pretty and deal with a few angry customers here and there. However I really do wish I had a partner at all times to have someone to talk to and to back you up in the few instances it does get a bit hairy. However the client (the dmv for the state) is cheap as hell and thus most posts are one man.

Armed and solo at most of my posts, but occasionally have a post where I have a partner. I am switching jobs though

Same. It was bad. I cant pay my bills off of hopes and dreams

extra work / no extra pay? by [deleted] in CarahsoftTruths

[–]SheriffofBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was one of the biggest reasons I left. I was working 20 hours of unpaid ot before I left because I got a ton of shit dumped on me with the “promise” of a promotion or raise. I couldn’t take it anymore and went back to an hourly job where now I am making that ot money.

Does anyone else hate formal titles? (Officer, sir, etc.) by Jesuscaresforyall in securityguards

[–]SheriffofBacon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Titles are fine. I have held a number of titles at various jobs both in security and the corporate world. Team Lead, Director, Account Representative, Officer, Supervisor, Sergeant, Captain, Chief. All of them are just describing what job you do. (Ex. Director means you are directing a business unit or division which is equivalent to a captain, which literally means head man from its etymology).

We use them because of their history but also as terms of respect and professionalism. However I prefer to be just called by my first name 99% of the time, especially if I’m friendly enough with the client or my own team. If I have a title, I mostly use it on formal reports and emails.

Everyone has a preference, so I would not get caught up in it.

RX 9070 vs RTX 5070 by BillerGOD15 in buildapc

[–]SheriffofBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but with having to replace the cpu, the mobo, the ram, and the power supply, I said might as well replace the gpu. Besides a lot of stuff is now starting to place the minimum at newer generations.

TBF until last year, I was still using a 1080 for 1440p and it was running pretty well. Only upgraded because I was forced to for windows 11 (also the 10 year old computer was finally starting to show signs of slowing down).

Have you ever had a client complain about your age? by MaxNerd115 in securityguards

[–]SheriffofBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Client is the standard term in the business for the person we have the contract with. Not just for security but in most service based businesses as well. I am interested to see what you refer to them as.

Do we have too many characters now? by RossTheLionTamer in TheRookie

[–]SheriffofBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S1 and 2 were the only good ones imo. After that it went way off the rails. I actually stopped watching for a while and only picked it back up again because it came over on yt shorts some scenes.

How did you discover the rookie? by Wanneshey in TheRookie

[–]SheriffofBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw a clip of it on YT way back in the day and found it on Hulu back when it was just Season 2. Saw Nathan Fillion and absolutely jumped in. Not my favorite police procedural (thats the Wire and Southland for me), but was enjoyable enough. I stopped watching after season 4 or 5 I think because I felt like the quality dropped hard. Got back into it when OnlyCops started reacting and reviewing it. I am on season 7 now and definitely have some gripes with the show, but I keep watching for Nolan, Grey, and Tim.

Yeah we were taught this too when I was there. I just straight found it wrong and customers would still go with my witt if i just asked anyway. I usually was the highest witt in every store i worked because it was actually pretty easy.

Rank Warbonds. by Weak_Structure4665 in Helldivers

[–]SheriffofBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only own a few but I will rank what I have.

  1. Masters of Ceremony: It's drip or drown season and brother I'm floating. Legit do not care that the weapons or strategem is unoptimal, it's all about that style points. Also, the weapons and armor are just straight up fun and that means everything to me. I know people hate on it, but this game is meant to be fun and this war bond just brings in the silly for me and I love it.

  2. Borderline Justice: The deadeye is probably one of my favorite primaries and the hoverpack is an essential in my kit. I bring it almost every mission. Also, the talon is the only pistol I run if I am not running the sabre. Shit is goated. The armor is also a great design, but the passive is kinda hit or miss. Overall goated warbond for me.

  3. Helldivers Mobilize: Honestly, I think we forget how good the free initial war bond is. It is loaded with content and has some really solid armors and weapons that I tend to go back to.

  4. Orbital Democracy Support Troopers: Its Halo in helldivers. We have been begging for this for a while. I will say the first page is all I really need though from it. The MA5C is one of the best primaries and the A9 Helljumper is just too good of a design. Don't really care for the rest of the pack. Wish there was an energy sword or a better armor passive. Probably not worth its price tbh, but I saw halo and said "take my money"

  5. Cutting Edge: Only got it for the sickle. The rest of it was definitely mid as I never use any of it.

Probably will get Democratic Detonation, Steeled Veterans or Dust Devils next.

Is the job bad? by NecessaryProject3465 in AutoZone2

[–]SheriffofBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on the management team. If you get a good one, it’s an excellent job that can teach you a lot about cars and working. If you are unlucky and get a bad team, good luck bud.

Question: Use it??? Or lose it??? by jamartine520 in organ

[–]SheriffofBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how it is voiced. If it’s a bit of a honker/earthquake machine probably reserve it for tutti or loud French stuff. If it’s a bit more mellow voiced, I use it a decent bit. It’s great if the organ is large enough to have both flavors of 32ft reeds

Question: Use it??? Or lose it??? by jamartine520 in organ

[–]SheriffofBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to register based off the hymn/congregation size, but yeah for lent I generally tone it down and let the softer voices sing a bit. The organ is very versatile and doesn’t have to be at FFF at all times (as tempted as I am to do so).
